Missouri Senate threatening Planned Parenthood exec with jail

Posted by | April 5, 2016 11:19 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics

The Missouri Senate is threatening to hold the head of the St. Louis-area Planned Parenthood in contempt for not submitting private medical documents.

The move comes after the state general assembly’s committee on the sanctity of life subpoenaed documents from Mary Kogut, the president and CEO of Planned Parenthood of the St Louis Region and Southwest Missouri, in an investigation into her organization.

The subpoena, issued in November, called for Kogut to turn over any and all consent forms signed by the patient in the process of receiving abortion care at the St Louis affiliate. It also seeks documents that make reference to Dr Mary Gatter and Dr Deborah Nucatola, two Planned Parenthood staff members who are prominently featured in widely debunked “sting” videos by the activist group the Center for Medical Progress (CMP). The videos alleged that Planned Parenthood affiliate health centers throughout the US were engaging in the illegal sale of fetal tissue donation.

A lawyer responded on behalf of Planned Parenthood that the committee did not have the authority to subpoena these documents, and that handing them over would violate federal privacy law.

How about charging these Senate members with trying to violate patient privacy laws?

Kurt Schaefer wants to be the next AG, and is the chairperson for the “sanctity of life committee”. Practically every day I wonder why my state has a “sanctity” committee at all. He is also the head of the Appropriations committee – so defunding is big on his list.

The KC Star called him the scariest man in MO – a politician with the talent and ambition to acquire power and a willingness to misuse it.

Sums up the repukes pretty well. Get in and abuse their power at the expense of the people they’re suppose to represent. Disgusting.

I find this guy even more frightening to our state…

Rex Sinquefield, Billionaire who gave Kurt Schaefer 750,000k towards getting him elected and is behind the effort to get rid of the E-Tax here in KC..
And many other anti-union efforts across the state, (right to work)

Yep, and this morning I heard he’s proposing a bill to create a committee to oversee the functions at MU. I think MO women should create a committee to oversee his actions.

Missouri, the state with crushing debt and constantly rising unemployment, is doing their part to make things better by putting Planned Parenthood execs in jail. Way to go, MO!

Forgive me for questioning your comment but…
You might be thinking of Kansas who has both of the above…:)

Kansas, Mississippi, Missouri… I can’t tell the difference anymore.

I know exactly what you mean….

DOJ should come down very hard on these GOP bastards ASAP as a warning for other GOP States.
