Trump’s claim IRS is persecuting him for being Christian debunked–by his own lawyers

Donald Trump has claimed the IRS is auditing him because he’s a “strong Christian.” His lawyers say that’s not the issue.

Trump’s campaign shed some light on the issue yesterday when it released a letter from his lawyers confirming that the candidate is being audited.  But, at the same time, it undermined Trump’s claim that he is facing specific targeting for his well-known Christian beliefs:

Trump’s tax returns have been under “continuous examination” by the IRS since 2002, “consistent with the IRS’ practice for large and complex businesses,” the lawyers wrote.

Seeing that the lawyers called the audits “consistent with the IRS’ practice for large and complex businesses,” we are not sure how Trump can continue to say with a straight face that the audit is actually an act of anti-Christian persecution.

So far the repubs have proved, beyond a shadow of doubt, you don’t have to be very smart to be a brain surgeon or a billionare.

Trump is not being persecuted — prosecuted someday, perhaps, but not persecuted — and not for being a Christian — for being a tax evader, it may turn out, but not for rendering unto Caesar.

Color me NOT surprised that Trump would lie in his attempt to claim the IRS is persecuting him for religious reasons in order to pander for the votes of fundamentalists. Cheating and lying for personal gain seems to be one of his major character traits.

    I don’t even understand Trump’s claim.

How are his casinos (or whatever) Christian?

Seriously, what is he even claiming?

When I looked at the draft of 6589 dollars, I have faith that brother of my friend was like really generating cash in his free time with his PC..oaf His aunt’s neighbor has done this for only 11 months and by now repaid the loan on their home and bought a new Car.

Don’t worry Trump. The IRS is an equal-opportunity persecutor. There are a lot of people (including me) who are being “persecuted” every year by the IRS – Atheist, Jews, Muslims, Hindus, white collar workers, blue collar workers, etc.
