Beverages offering secret ingredient: real sugar

Posted by | March 30, 2016 18:51 | Filed under: Planet

They finally realized that sugar substitutes are worse for you than the real thing.

Boylan Bottling Co.’s line of a dozen soda flavors touts “cane sugar” in capital letters on the label. Puck’s fountain sodas, available at restaurant chains in Los Angeles and Washington, D.C., say they are made with “bagged sugar from cane.”

This week, PepsiCo is rolling out a line of soda the company says is inspired by the original cola formula created by its founder in 1893. Cans list “real sugar” among the ingredients. New television ads to launch next week will feature a sommelier in a leather chair swirling the soft drink in a brandy glass before chugging it. “Refined,” he says.

The goal for soda companies is to spritz up fizzling soft-drink sales. The appeal: Sugar is natural.

    It’s still sugar.

While it’s still sugar, there’s a vast difference between different types of sugar.
For example, how corn syrup and natural sugars in fruits and vegetables are two totally different things.
They act differently in the body.

So, it’s still a lot of refined sugar from sugar cane or beets (most likely).
And it’s less a question of “what’s healthier” and more a question of “what’s least unhealthy”.
With that in mind, natural sugar makes a big difference.

Plus, as I said in my other comment… I like the taste better. :)

Um… Pepsi, didn’t you just end a campaign like this?
Don’t get me wrong, I love the idea of Pepsi with real sugar coming back to market, but that’s just it… it’s not new, it’s old.
    Twice over now.

But yeah, I prefer Pepsi with real sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup.

I am getting a salary of 6600 dollars each week. Over a year ago I was in a horrible condition , jobless and no bank credit ..oss Thanks to one of my friends who showed me a way where I was able to gather myself and making average of 58 d/h. So it can change your life as it has changed mine. Why not try this.

      Look here for details

      That was their “Throwback” campaign.
And IMO, Mountain Dew Throwback tastes better too.

I had that also and you’re right… it is better.
I’m used to the regular stuff again at this point, but I miss the Throwback line.

Thanks for reminding me of the name of it, I couldn’t remember for the life of me.
But after a while, they stopped using the “Throwback” label and instead they just had Pepsi (high fructose) vs Pepsi-Cola (regular sugar).
Now it’s all gone and I has a sad.
