Florida governor signs medical marijuana bill

Posted by | March 28, 2016 20:27 | Filed under: Good News Politics

Even a conservative like Rick Scott can do it.

Gov. Rick Scott signed a bill Friday to expand Florida’s “Right To Try” compassionate use registry to allow terminally ill patients to use medical marijuana.

The bill, which was one of the most hotly-debated pieces of legislation during this year’s regular session in Tallahassee, overwhelmingly won the approval of state lawmakers earlier this month.

The bill, HB 307, would create new regulations for medical marijuana use in the Sunshine State. Floridians who have less than a year to live would be able to use certain non-smokable forms of medical marijuana.

Dang, We woke up to about six inches of new snow this morning and it is still coming down. I don’t think the motor home will climb the driveway to get out of here. Well, here I go again, missing all of the Good Stuff. :+)

We’re had strange weather here all month. Lots of high winds with gusts to match. I woke this morning and realized it was the silence and about 59 degrees and they say that there’s no climate change. You and yours stay safe and warm alright?

            • The Original Just Me March 29th, 2016 at 17:25

We have six inches of fresh wet snow so far today and it is still snowing. Tomorrow will be 52 and pushing 70 by Fri. Get out the Float tubes Ma ! It’s FLOOD TIME ! We are high enough not to get flooded at the house or yard but the pasture will be nice for water skiing. :+)

              • allison1050 March 29th, 2016 at 18:49

In that case I’m glad I’m here and not there! ;o)

                • The Original Just Me March 29th, 2016 at 20:35

I don’t worry no more. We have been here almost 37 years now and I have seen at least 30 floods in that time. No big deal anymore.

                  • allison1050 March 29th, 2016 at 21:41

I certainly hope you and your Mrs. are safe!

We will be fine. I build our house and shops on a little higher piece of our land close to the main road. It is only the pasture that floods and there is nothing in it, Some of our neighbors do get their feet wet but everything will be okay in about a week. That’s for being concerned. :+)

Hi! Glad to hear that you 2 are safe, warm and dry. ;o)

Shocker, seeing as he doesn’t seem to give a crapola about his state’s citizens.

While it looks like a step in the right direction, It’s extremely restrictive and serves as few people as possible.
By limiting the patients to those with less than a year to live and further restricting what they can purchase to edibles, Rick Scott has found a way to appear pro pot while doing everything he can to make sure people never legally get high in his state…
    Read the bill…it’s complete bullsh!t…

Thanks for harshing the buzz of Floridians..:)

      • Mike March 28th, 2016 at 23:19

I’m thinking this is a political ploy by Scott…there’s a move to get pot on the ballot this year and I have a feeling Scott is looking to head it off at the pass claiming we have a medical marijuana program in place and there’s no need for legislation…it’s just not like him to sign this bill, he has been a vociferous enemy of pot legislation…sumptin’s zup…

        • StoneyCurtisll March 29th, 2016 at 00:34

          Excellent point…

It’s not even “medical marijuana” it’s end of life palliative care for the terminally ill.

          .

I read something a while back about Scott only wanting to allow Marinol…of course he was hooked up somehow with the manufacturers…hard to know what’s true since Scott took the Sunshine out of our Sunshine laws by allowing trust investments to remain secret.
I think we both know Scott doesn’t do anything unless it serves his purposes.

Creak, Crack, the door is open. Now watch the crowd burst through it.

      • Mike March 28th, 2016 at 23:36

Normally I’d agree with that statement, but we’re talking about Floriduh…our governor is a criminal, republicans control both houses, and Pam Bondi got reelected…this is some kind of ploy.

    At last…
Something out of Florida that doesn’t involve a gun killing..
Or something equally as ignorant as a, gun killing..
Now there is something to look up to Florida about.

    • CHOCOL8MILK March 28th, 2016 at 22:43

I have mixed feelings about this. I hope that because of available marijuana, the wacky and strange news from Florida doesn’t end.

      • StoneyCurtisll March 28th, 2016 at 22:44

        I know…
Be careful what we wish for…
Cause it might be what Florida will give ya..:)

Hey, they had to do something to get high. The Sea is rising, Flood time if you don’t get to the High. Does any of what I just said make any sense ?

    They’ll be sorry.

  7. The Original Just Me March 28th, 2016 at 23:14

Did I hear a Creak in the Crack of the Door ? Let’s see, folks who are going to die can now party It up Legally in Florida. Hummmm, isn’t Florida the Retirement CAPITOL OF THE WORLD ? Where Old Folks go to die ? If it works, Don’t Fix It. Just TAX IT TO DEATH and make money.
