You can now borrow a dog

New York City has a dog borrowing service.

Bark’N’Borrow is a service that connects dog owners with dog lovers who don’t or can’t have their own furry companions. The dog lovers can borrow other people’s dogs for short visits or even overnight stays.

“This is the next best thing between not owning a dog and committing to one,” said Bark’N’Borrow CEO and Founder Liam Berkeley.

    I don’t know why this bothers me…but it just doesn’t seem right…

I’m wondering about the dog’s say in all this…
Dogs aren’t objects like cars that you rent for a couple days and return with a full tank…

I will say this…there is a good deal of research into “therapy Dogs”…It works for me…My dogs are very good at that…I feel so much better after a good run and a good rub down…then I pet the dogs…just kidding…I noticed that when people meet Noodles, most are Terrified and shy away…but, after I introduce him, I have a hard time separating them…He loves people…he is a good judge of character…better than me, sometimes…and he has more friends than I do…

But your dogs are coming home to a stable loving environment every night…and I don’t think you’re doing this every day…
I wonder how a commercial operation would treat the dogs given the history of animal abuse in this country…
I’m with you….i just sounds like a bad idea all around

There is no way I am letting strangers keep my baby overnight, there isn’t enough money in the world.

I know what ya mean…there were a few times I had to board Noodles at the vet’s for a few days…They were impressed with his vocals…He howled and moaned for the two days we were gone…the Veternarians were very, very happy to see us come get him…He was not a problem other than his loud vocal pining…they were willing to pay us to take him home…

I had to put mine in kennels a few times, but they were kept together so they weren’t completely alone. It was hard, but they forgave me for doing that every time :)

ummm…the reunion is the best part…if ya like pitt bull lower lip slobber…for me, it is a sign of love…

Oooh, I miss that slobber. My Frankie (in the pic with me) was the most loving baby I ever knew. He was literally a “rescue”, if he didn’t find me he wouldn’t have made it much longer. He was my world and now he is one of my angels.

yeah…I have a couple of doggie angels myself…I swore that after losing my Dawg, I wouldn’t ever have another one…then came Noodles all needle teeth and drool…it was instant love…I am an old softy when it comes to canines…I have a four pound Tea Cup Chihuahua, that is the leader of the pack tho…

Funny you say that, at one time I had a Pitt, two Rotties, and my Chihuahua who like yours, is also the boss. I still have my little Chihuahua with me, but the rest are my angels.

Its bad enough that parents who have no choice but to work have to trust their baby to strangers. Why do it just cause.

I know, but in the human baby setting, there is oversight. Where animals are concerned, there maybe oversight, but very little and is not enforced nearly at the same level, not even close.

I feel the same way. There is no way on earth I would loan out my dog to anyone!

It would seem to me that volunteering at a shelter would be more fulfilling.

    • whatthe46 March 24th, 2016 at 10:49

      that’s too funny and cute.

    • mistlesuede March 24th, 2016 at 13:04

I have a red and white Corgi. :)

I guess I’m going to be mean and say that if you aren’t willing to commit to a dog and own one, then you should not have one at all. This idea gives me the creeps.

Isn’t this just basically getting a dog-sitter for free?

Anyway, I love dogs but can’t have one, so where do I sign up?!
