Playboy for sale for $500m

That’s a lot of shekels for the privilege of owning a magazine that doesn’t even show nudes anymore.

Playboy, which has a footprint in 180 countries, publishes the magazine, sells merchandise with its famous bunny logo and creates videos and other content for TV networks, websites, apps and radio stations. The company went private in a 2011 deal that priced it at $207 million.

Playboy in 2015 grossed $38 million from media content and $55 million from licensing its brand to other firms, according to documents obtained by WSJ. Hefner, 89, owns one third of Playboy alongside private equity firm Rizvi Traverse Management.

Its flagship magazine boasted a circulation of 5.6 million in 1975 but its print reach has dropped to 800,000, Alliance for Audited Media figures show. Executives at Larry Flynt’s competitor company Hustler told the Daily News in January they’re interested in buying the Playboy Mansion but not for $200 million.

    Playboy’s days are numbered…

$500 Million is too much for the magazine and brand, it’s worth less in my opinion. They should have seen how the internet would change the world of pornography and other print media. The appeal to Playboy was “classy nudity”. I suppose they were behind the curve. Other print media entities were quick to jump on the possibilities of the internet back when it came out during the AOL days. I’d be surprised if anyone pays the asking price.

Is it even worth half that…???

I highly doubt it. The profit margin isn’t good. Unless they get back into making movies and streaming it online, maybe.

The clubs, hotels, and naked women, are gone … that was the brand …all they have to sell now are memories.

When I looked at the draft of 6455 dollars, I have faith that brother of my friend was like really generating cash in his free time with his PC..wtu His aunt’s neighbor has done this for only 11 months and by now repaid the loan on their home and bought a new Car.

$500 million? Seems way low. Hugh must be at the end. Selling off the mansion and the company.
