MS state rep tells woman he ‘could care less’ what she thinks, tells her to leave state

A Mississippi lawmaker responded to an email from a Gulfport woman to tell her he ‘could care less’ about her concerns, according to The Clarion-Ledger. Rep. Karl Oliver (R-Winona) also suggested that Becky Guidry move out of Mississippi. Guidry emailed the freshman lawmaker to express her concerns about the tax breaks which are being considered by…

We all know this is the Republican mindset towards the public. It’s their way or the highway.

Karl Oliver made the mistake of putting it in writing.

What a complete and utter a$$hole. His reply is full of contradictions. He starts with “our great state” then disproves that immediately by claiming that most people agree with him. Then he says he couldn’t care less about her views, but ends “with warmest regards.” He might as well have closed with “f*ck you.” I’m sure he will have no trouble getting re-elected forever.

    • Roctuna March 19th, 2016 at 14:05

“our great state” He forgets he’s Mississippi. Molly Ivins used to say “Texas is like Mississippi, but with better roads”.

      • Larry Schmitt March 19th, 2016 at 14:05

Mississippi is there to give the people of West Virginia someone to look down on.

Well bless his heart…..I always loved that back-handed complement.

    • cogitoergodavesum March 19th, 2016 at 16:51

He says he “could care less” which, while true, isn’t what he actually meant.

There you go again, using facts regarding GOP behavior.

I would apologize, but the comments are only being read by us.

  3. KABoink_after_wingnut_hacker March 19th, 2016 at 13:57

The actual saying is: “I couldn’t care less”….. meaning you have no point to consider.
By saying: “I could care less” means that what she has to say has some importance.
So this POS republican asshat is not only ignorant and illiterate, but also a misogynistic prick.

That’s the very reason that Mississippi is the poorest state and probably the lowest graduation numbers.

It is pure arrogance to dismiss and denigrate a state resident that a so-called state representative serves. Rep. Oliver deliberately sent a response to smugly proclaim his GOP majority legislative power in Mississippi.

A few years ago, I sent a letter to my state rep (R) here in PA with concerns about the adverse consequences of the GOP slashing one billion from state education funding in the budget. – His response to me contained one sentence: “I am in receipt of your letter.”

Unfortunately, Mississippi is stuck with this slimy snake until 2020. – Whenever and wherever possible, VOTE these malicious GOP out of office!

  11. M.C.A. March 19th, 2016 at 23:05

First of all the lady wasn’t a resident of that state but the governor of MN did tell his Conservative citizens that they can leave if they don’t accept Syrian, Bosnian, Myanmar and Somalian refugees due to Islamist concerns and these concerns are real because several Muslims have returned back to the battle to fight Westerner’s, thankfully some never return…Lol.

    • cogitoergodavesum March 20th, 2016 at 00:04

First of all, the lady IS a resident of that state.
Second, Governor Dayton’s comment is an example of passionate public hyperbole, unlike the personal and insulting dismissal of a constituent by Representative Oliver.
Third, Oliver’s use of “I could care less” is indicative of a literacy level equal to that exhibited by the redundancy of “returned back,” and an apostrophe in the word “Westerners” in a run-on sentence,

      • M.C.A. March 20th, 2016 at 02:45

Notice you didn’t address what happened in MN, the Democratic representative couldn’t care less about citizen concerns, so I guess it’s a one way conversation sort of like traveling to the Trump rally in AZ only to find a handful of extremist liberals blocking the road, nothing much matters, right it’s aaaaalllll good.

        • cogitoergodavesum March 20th, 2016 at 08:53

Talking to me is just like going to Arizona? Okay…
I did address the Governor’s response to the ignorant bigots’ expression of disdain for the plight of refugees. I pointed out that it was not comparable to a personal attack on a taxpayer who had expressed concern about the state budget.

          • M.C.A. March 20th, 2016 at 10:24

You think America can afford to keep taking in refugee’s, ND is full of them, many are also elderly. Aren’t you concerned that they take valuable jobs from High School graduates, is everyone college material? Tax incentives are given out to employers that hire refugee’s, they get the prime jobs. How many states are in the negative with their budgets due to the huge influx of Mexicans and refugee’s, schools do drain the system so do social services.

            • tracey marie March 20th, 2016 at 10:31

No, people are people and deserve respect and help, period.

              • M.C.A. March 20th, 2016 at 22:15

I agree but we are borrowing money from China and these refugee’s should be helped in their own country we are letting in too many poor people and workers here on a work Visa, they do take jobs, I had a very hard time finding a job in my home state, never had that problem before but now we have so many refugee’s.

            • oldfart March 20th, 2016 at 10:36

Notice you cant seem to stay on topic either, it’s about Mississippi.
Do try to keep up and stay on topic.

            • cogitoergodavesum March 20th, 2016 at 12:24

“You think America can afford to keep taking in refugee’s, ND is full of them, many are also elderly.” Yes, no it isn’t, and so what?

“Aren’t you concerned that they take valuable jobs from High School graduates, is everyone college material?” I assume your concern is more for high school dropouts than graduates. And yeah, pretty much everyone will get something out of post secondary education.

“Tax incentives are given out to employers that hire refugee’s, they get the
prime jobs” Okay now you’re just making up stuff.

” How many states are in the negative with their budgets due to the huge influx of Mexicans and refugee’s” Education budgets are in trouble because of decades of insufficient funding, as you have demonstrated. Immigrants use fewer social services and contribute more to the economy, per capita, than non-immigrants, particularly in the red states.

              • M.C.A. March 20th, 2016 at 22:13

                http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2058450/US-economy-8-states-including-Alaska-Mississippi-budget-surplus-revealed.html

                • bpollen March 21st, 2016 at 00:18

That was a pointless little excursion into irrelevancy.

As MCA said: “You think America can afford to keep taking in refugee’s, ND is full of them, many are also elderly.”

Then you post a link to an article that states that ND has a surplus. There went your whole “immigrants and refugees are putting states in the red” argument. Your own link disproves it.

I will say, it is nice of you to post the links that debunk the shite you claim.

                  • M.C.A. March 21st, 2016 at 02:22

I left alot out, the refugee will get the prime jobs, and the citizens get stuck with part time fast food or part time work. ND has a huge surplus due to the oil fields that have been there a very long time, trouble is that it’s a big state and doesn’t have that many people.

                    • bpollen March 21st, 2016 at 05:02

So, you can predict hiring practices in North Dakota, both for refugees and for current residents of the state. Seems like the problem you, the seer and sage, see coming is because of the people HIRING and not the people fleeing violence. But you would rather bemoan the refugees than the people who are actually DOING what you fear-monger about. See, the people who would rather hire an illegal immigrant or refugee than you contribute massively to the Republicans who are telling you that it’s the IMMIGRANTS’ fault that their campaign contributors are willing to hire illegal immigrants. Or, to put it another way, gullible people are convinced to blame anybody but the guilty.

If you don’t like the reality you describe, perhaps you shouldn’t be voting for those in the pay of the architects of this economic reality. Immigrants didn’t decimate the middle class. Immigrants didn’t make almost all the gains in the economy go to the 1%. Minorities don’t pass laws to raise taxes on the middle class and reduce them on those who need the break least. The “other” is not responsible for the failure of trickle down Republican promises.

      • M.C.A. March 20th, 2016 at 02:51

She’s from illinois, you can’t just move from state to state and change your residency, it’s not that easy and you have to be resident for certain amount of time before you can acquire certain benefits. My brother moved from ND to be next to his favorite ball team the Cubs it was his lifelong dream but after living there for 3 years he has had enough of Chicago and is planning his move next year, I’m trying talk him into Hampton VA, it seemed like quiet peaceful and clean area, no thugs and socialist cry babies.

        • cogitoergodavesum March 20th, 2016 at 09:07

I’m not familiar with your state’s rules, but I expect that if you were employed you would pay income tax to the state in which you worked. She made it clear that she is in fact a Mississippi taxpayer. Her potential and hypothetical acquisition of “certain benefits” is hardly relevant to her right to be concerned over how her taxes are allocated.
Your brother’s globetrotting is even less relevant to this discussion, although I assume he either has school age children whom he wants properly educated, or does not own a corporation, since you aren’t urging him to move to Mississippi.

          MISSISSIPPI VOTER REGISTRATION QUALIFICATIONS.
          .
Residency: Must be a resident of Mississippi and the county, city or town for 30 days prior to the election.

          • M.C.A. March 21st, 2016 at 11:51

Well you see how that works, I guess you haven’t moved around much, the state you grew up in and spent most of your young adulthood is the state that will take care of you, don’t expect too much when you move, especially from such a state as Illinois, you can get a real good example of what it’s like dealing with Chicago citizens from the Hardcore Pawn reality show. http://www.mlive.com/entertainment/detroit/index.ssf/2013/01/detroits_american_jewelry_and_2.html

            • Granite Skyline March 21st, 2016 at 12:03

What part of “Must be a resident of Mississippi … for 30 days prior to the election, did you not comprehend? Is the word “prior” too complex for you?

    • bpollen March 20th, 2016 at 01:59

Didn’t read the article before vomiting up your response? And I quote: “A Mississippi resident is concerned over the budget crisis so he basically told her he doesn’t give a shit about her.” So the very article you comment on proves your comment wrong.

Since when has a republican ever given a shit about what voters want? They only care about what their owners/donors ie. what rich people want and that has always been true of republicans since the party was formed.

The arrogance afforded to this particular POS has been bought and paid for by Billionaires and corporations working tirelessly to assure gerrymandered districts, thereby enabling their ability to give anyone and everyone, the one finger salute. The grand scheme by the grand old party will ultimately be made mute when the white population becomes a minority by 2050.
Small comfort right now that citizens may not in fact be able to vote them out…
BUT by golly, they CANT live forever.

  16. M.C.A. March 20th, 2016 at 22:16

She’s not originally from Mississippi hippie.

    • bpollen March 20th, 2016 at 22:50

Let me quote someone you probably know. He goes by MCA:

“First of all the lady wasn’t a resident of that state…”

Now let’s quote the definition of “resident”:

: living in a particular place usually for a long period of time

So, you don’t have to be BORN in the place you are a RESIDENT of. You said that she wasn’t a resident. You were wrong. Calling me a hippie, besides showing your lack of rational responses, doesn’t change the English language. You should learn it sometime.

      Here, a little English lesson:

Native: a person born in a specified place or associated with a place by birth, whether subsequently resident there or not.

      • MagnaDave March 20th, 2016 at 22:53

      • M.C.A. March 21st, 2016 at 02:27

There are limitations to how many states you can be affiliated with, you pay federal taxes for your resident state and then taxes in another along with drivers license and insurance, I’ve been there done that in the military. This trouble maker was asked to go back to Chicago where she belongs, it’s good to shovel back to citizens, look how bad the customers treat employees in the US, you won’t find that kind of crazy anywhere else because it is not tolerated.

        • bpollen March 21st, 2016 at 04:50

Doesn’t matter… she was a resident of the state, even though you seem to be horrible confused about the subject. She was a legal resident of the state, legally able to vote, paid taxes. She was a… wait for it… a constituent!

Oh, yeah, Motor Club of America, there are other veterans, myself included, who think serving in the military was for ALL American citizens, not just the ones who agree with you. Apparently you lied your tuches off when you took your oath that started “I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States…”

        • cogitoergodavesum March 21st, 2016 at 10:53

“it’s good to shovel back to citizens, look how bad the customers treat employees in the US, you won’t find that kind of crazy anywhere else because it is not tolerated.”

Can anybody explain what this means??

          • M.C.A. March 21st, 2016 at 11:18

Yea I live in a 3rd world and that stuff don’t happen here…Lol wake up, you’ll end up in jail, beaten or possibly killed for acting up. I’ve never seen a SE Asian citizen act up in public as badly as we allow in the states. Here’s an example, this lady is also a liberal and highly educated, enjoy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=06sao4GwfbU
