Didn’t criminals do that before? Because as far as i know, Criminals were never granted permits. Being a criminal means you are prohibited from owning a gun.

I am conflicted on concealed weapons permits. I am glad for the minimal vetting it takes to get one but I don’t feel any safer.
(But, I would rather people just openly carry their guns. At least I would then know who is armed and dangerous. )
My desire for gun control is that ALL gun owners be licensed — with safety training and yearly background checks.
After they are determined safe and sane, they can carry it however they want.
