Finally, a Republican who won’t vote Republican just because the candidate claims to be a Republican.

“I’ll either vote for a conservative who runs or I’ll write in the name of a conservative,” Romney said during an interview on the “Fox Business Network” on Friday.

“I cannot in good conscience vote for a person who has been as degrading and disruptive and unhinged as I’ve seen Donald Trump be,” Romney told host Neil Cavuto.

question – do all these little appearances by mitt suggest he actually thinks he’ll be snatched out of the woodwork as the great saving grace for a dead party?

I don’t think so. I think he’s literally scared for his party’s survival. Romney is bad in many ways, but he *is* a moderate (still right-wing, but to the left within the Republican party). He had to run to the right to satisfy the donors, who are far to the right, after he got the nomination because he was seen as “most electable” (read: moderate).

That’s why he’s focusing all of his comments at Trump. If he wanted to be the “saving grace”, he’d target all three, in the hopes that all three tank in popularity and he can step in as the only feasible candidate.

Your hypothetical needs Trump to start losing and the rest to start winning…no very likely…there is a clear path to 1,237 for Trump
Can Romney be The Chosen One…?? This article claims that the candidate needs at least 1 delegate vote to be considered…
      But the rules are murky…

I don’t think he wants to give up his new career.
