This is where the pope lives

    • Richard Banville February 18th, 2016 at 15:02

I have been to Vatican City. Crossing the border was a matter of stepping over a white line set in the pavement.

      • Gina Bousquet February 18th, 2016 at 16:19

Merci pour ce commentaire Banville. :)

    • whatthe46 February 18th, 2016 at 16:56

and our presidents live in the white house. and is guarded 24/7. neither preach hate towards another and care about all, what’s your point?

    • Tim Coolio February 18th, 2016 at 19:00

He needs a good secure building.

    • robert February 19th, 2016 at 00:32

      very good RER your learning

    • bpollen February 19th, 2016 at 02:12

A head of a sovereign state residing in a secure compound. How unusual.

    • Roctuna February 19th, 2016 at 08:53

Wasted no time in getting your talking point from El Rushbo I see. So your point is what, exactly? Ancient walls dating from the era of warrior popes are equivalent to Herr Trumps lamebrained idea? Here’s another pic for you. Note that the walls you just learned about yesterday comprise less than 50% of the perimeter of Vatican City (point A to point B). I couldn’t believe you actually got 3 upvotes, then I saw who and understood.

  2. Landscapegoat February 18th, 2016 at 12:45

    Take that, phoney Christian conservatives.

    • Tim Coolio February 18th, 2016 at 13:25

They sit at the front of the church on Sunday then go to work and endeavor to treat the poor unlike Jesus would have.

  3. Bunya February 18th, 2016 at 13:20

…And those who can afford to give their cardinals $34 million mansions, complete with maids and butlers to live in, should use some of that money to feed and house the poor, instead of depending on your congregation (most of them on social security) to pony up.
    Just sayin’.

    • Dwendt44 February 18th, 2016 at 19:34

The Catholic Church is the largest land lord in the world. Billions in real estate; residences and business space both.

      • Bunya February 18th, 2016 at 22:20

Not only that, but the Catholic church should be the LAST organization to pass judgement on ANYONE. Now, I’m no fan of Trump, but a bunch of pedophiles suggesting someone else is immoral, is going too far.

  4. Tim Coolio February 18th, 2016 at 13:26

GOP = the new modern Pharasees.

  5. Suzanne McFly February 18th, 2016 at 13:44

It is disgraceful when someone questions another persons faith? Should we ask Muslims how they feel about that quote?

  6. mistlesuede February 18th, 2016 at 13:55

I may not be the Pope, but I can tell you “the Donald” is not a Christian too.

  7. Gina Bousquet February 18th, 2016 at 16:20

    Good one Francis!

    • whatthe46 February 18th, 2016 at 16:49

apparently they don’t give a damn about anything. other than a leader of hatred. like the murder of anyone and being divisive and wait that’s the teachings of satan. they’ve found it in all they follow.

      • Gina Bousquet February 18th, 2016 at 16:52

I think you’re right, and it’s real scary!

    • Mensa Member February 18th, 2016 at 23:41

I’m and Evangelical Christian and I care about the pope.

Like a lot of people I like what I’ve seen, so far, but I’m not sure that even the pope can make the kind of reforms I’d like to see in the Roman Catholic Church.

As for his comment about bridges versus walls — I think this is a beautiful analogy for Christ and those of us who follow him.

      • Gina Bousquet February 19th, 2016 at 11:24

        It’s indeed a beautiful analogy.

      • DownriverDem February 19th, 2016 at 12:32

Do you vote repub or for the Dems?

  8. maggie February 18th, 2016 at 17:39

the pope is conceding that medical abortion is a humanitarian necessity so I guess the catholic church is compassion requires us to act to alleviate suffering….I think that means women are entitled to medical abortions. preventive as well. and contraception. maybe the zika virus will be a terrible blessing in disguise and open the way for reproductive rights ….of course he’s claiming divine right of decision making over the definition of compassion….still a misogynist …if I were latin america I would not waste any time….PP gettting 40 50 calls from latin america a day seeking medical abortion due to exposure to virus…I think giving money to combat the causes at the medical level or the environmental level should be conditional on allowing access to contraception and medical abortions…;)

    • Tim Coolio February 18th, 2016 at 18:59

Change the subject when out of material.

      • maggie February 18th, 2016 at 19:02

        I know ;)

      • maggie February 18th, 2016 at 21:26

I know….I guess I was tired of immigration since I have no problem with it

  9. Tim Coolio February 18th, 2016 at 18:59

The GOP is full of bible-thumping frauds who mascarade
    as Christians.

  10. Dwendt44 February 18th, 2016 at 19:37

That is just the Popes opinion. There’s nothing at all in the bible about building or not building walls.
The Jews have built walls for protection. The Vatican has walls around the Popes residence, White House, and many other countries have walls around high security buildings.
“course Trump’s wall is for spite, not really protection.

    • Mensa Member February 18th, 2016 at 23:50

      >> That is just the Popes opinion. There’s nothing at all in the bible about building or not building walls.

But there is a lot in the bible about welcoming foreigners. Christians can’t do that, when they are walled-out.

    • robert February 19th, 2016 at 04:17

border walls ( in the past ) have also been built to keep people in

  11. Isiah Abraham February 18th, 2016 at 19:46

“Pope on Trump: Anyone who wants to build a wall ‘is not Christian’”

I wonder if this goes for fences too? Lol!!

Secondly, I guess this means that a carpenter or a house-builder is not a Christian? Lol!!

Thirdly, I wonder when Catholics and all “true” Christians who are anti-walls are going to start abandoning their walled apartments, condos, houses, etc.. for the preferred wall-less and wonderful “Christian” teepees and tents? Lol!!

    • Mensa Member February 18th, 2016 at 23:34

The Pope’s Christianity is about welcoming people, not rejecting them.

But, I suspect you understand this and are just playing dumb.

      • Kevin February 18th, 2016 at 23:50

Yes, the Pope was speaking philosophically about building walls that divide people and not building bridges to unite people, he wasn’t talking about physical structures. The Pope leads by example, building bridges where many have and would only build walls.

        • Isiah Abraham February 20th, 2016 at 16:46

Kevin: “Yes, the Pope was speaking philosophically about building walls that divide people and not building bridges to unite people, he wasn’t talking about physical structures.”

So then why has everyone concluded that Mr. Trump himself is talking about a “physical structure” when he calls for a
policy of deportation and the building of a wall, Kevin? I guess what I’m trying to ask is this: If the Pope was referring to Mr. Trump and his immigration policy of deportation and the wall that has been proposed, and in doing so the Pope wasn’t talking about any
physical structures, then we would have to conclude that Mr. Trump himself is not speaking in terms of any physical
structures when he refers to an immigration policy that consists of deportation and building a wall, right? Because if in referring to Mr. Trump’s call for deportation and a wall, the Pope is referring to things that are not physical, then can Mr. Trump’s call for deportation and a wall be a reference to things physical? Are they not themselves simply “philosophical calls?”

      • Isiah Abraham February 19th, 2016 at 19:48

Mensa Member: “The Pope’s Christianity is about welcoming people, not rejecting them.”

And yet, it would appear that with the Christianity that you want us to believe is simply about “welcoming people,” he would reject and not welcome those that are for building walls. Lol!

Secondly, since you want us to believe that the Pope’s Christianity is simply about welcoming any and everybody while rejecting nobody, may you please explain these reports:

        I. Pope ‘rejects’ France’s gay envoy to Vatican
Published: 10 Apr 2015 The Local

        From Article:
“Pope Francis’ liberal credentials have taken a blow after the Vatican reportedly refused to accept the nomination of the new French ambassador, a close aide of President François Hollande, because he is gay.

Laurent Stefanini, a senior diplomat and French President François Hollande’s chief of protocol, was nominated in early January but the Vatican has yet to accept his credentials, officials in Paris said.

Normally a new ambassador’s credentials are accepted within a month and a half. The Vatican does not usually explicitly refuse an envoy’s credentials, but a prolonged silence after a nomination is interpreted as a rejection.

The Vatican declined to comment when asked by The Local if Stefanini, who is openly gay, was being rejected and if this was due to his sexuality.”

II. REPORTS: France Gives Up Trying to Appoint Gay Vatican Ambassador
BY DAWN ENNIS OCTOBER 12 2015 THE ADVOCATE

        FROM ARTICLE:
“French officials are choosing to send no one to the Vatican represent France, rather than try to convince the Holy See to accept a gay Catholic diplomat as its ambassador, following an impasse that began earlier this year, according to reports in the French news media cited by U.K. newspaper, The Guardian.

Although Laurent Stefanini was second in command of the Vatican embassy a decade ago, and is widely respected as President François Hollande’s chief of protocol, his credentials were not accepted by the Vatican after his appointment in January. As The Advocate previously reported, Stefanini was reportedly rejected by Pope Francis himself. Notably, his nomination as ambassador was supported by the archbishop of Paris.

Normally, the credentialing process takes no more than a few weeks, and the Vatican never explicitly rejected Stefanini’s appointment.

But according to Libération, “It’s dead,” says a sources at the Élysée palace, telling the newspaper Hollande has given up his efforts to push through the appointment.

Both Élysée and Vatican officials declined to comment on the reports.”

III. France Backs Off Appointment of Openly Gay Ambassador to Vatican
        BREITBART by THOMAS D. WILLIAMS, PH.D. 13 Oct 2015

        Article Piece:
“In the immediate wake of the Vatican sacking of a gay priest who attempted to upstage the Vatican Synod on the Family by “coming out” with his boyfriend the day before it began, Socialist French President François Hollande has withdrawn his proposal of Laurent Stefanini, an openly gay official, for the post of ambassador to the Holy See.

Hollande named Stefanini to the post, reportedly with the support of the Archbishop of Paris, Cardinal Vingt-Trois, last January, but the appointment was never approved by the Holy See. Usually, a new ambassador’s credentials are accepted within a month-and-a-half, and the Vatican’s prolonged silence was interpreted as a rejection of Hollande’s choice.

Now, France’s Libération newspaper has cited official sources as saying the French President had finally given up after months of trying to appoint Stefanini.”

So what gives? Why do we see rejection coming from the individual that you want us to believe has a Christianity that is simply “about welcoming people, not rejecting them”?

#2 Mensa Member: “But, I suspect you understand this and are just playing dumb.”

Actually, compared to you I am really dumb. After all you are the Mensa member.

  12. Mensa Member February 18th, 2016 at 23:47

The Bible is clear — God is the judge, not humans.

So, I’ll let God be the judge of Trump’s Christianity.

But I’ll say this — the pope seems have a deep and profound understanding of the bible and Jesus. I’ve never got that impression from Trump.

if the donald had read his family bible, he would realize that heaven itself is a walled city.
    too late now …
I guess the donald got punked by the pope?

The pope also says we can suit up now.

We can suit up to protect us from the Mika virus.

Hating on Catholics. Yea that’s the key Donald. There was a time when Catholics were hated in this country. Is that what Trump means by making America great again?
