I can understand the FBI trying to avoid turning these asses into martyrs but why was the electricity and phones left on? In an eastern Oregon winter without heat would shorten the occupation.

I think the Feds played a long game on them. Coddled them into comfort, allowed them to come and go freely, then arranged a meeting that would lure them way out into the wilderness where they could safely apprehend them, with no danger to the residents. If the gang had attempted a shootout, they would have all died like Finicum. Surrendering was the only smart thing they have done since they started.

In 2008 a group called “the Million Patriot March” tried to organize that many RWNJs to gather on the Mall, then march en-mass to the White House. They planned to arrest president Obama for being a Socialist. Seriously.
Total turnout was about fifteen or twenty people. Probably including some of these same loons.
Which is good because the organizers only rented a couple of porta-potties.

The RWNJ party will show only the frame where Finicum’s hands are up. They will not say that he had already fled from a previous stop, was attempting to run the next gauntlet, just missed hitting an officer, then hit a big rock. If he was indeed a “peaceful warrior” he should have stayed in the car. He may have had a chance to survive. Once he stepped out, he signed his life away.
