This time the promised storm actually arrived, unlike all those times they get us excited about a snow day and it never comes.

It’s just nice to be in WNY and not be part of the big storm, which is considered a small one here anyway. We get all the jokes and stupid press coverage as if we are the North pole normally.

    • StoneyCurtisll January 22nd, 2016 at 22:50

      Stay warm and safe~!

      • Hirightnow January 22nd, 2016 at 22:55

We’re heading towards the 40s here in Titusville; smell of smoke is everywhere.
Can’t imagine what people here would do if there was snow…probably start rioting and burning the historic courthouse for warmth…

It’s all good here. We had a little sunshine, but mostly cloudy, no snow from that storm and it’s about 20 outside. :)

Hmmmm. I’m originally from Buffalo. Blizzard of 77 and all that. I don’t miss it.

      • mistlesuede January 23rd, 2016 at 16:14

Well then you can certainly understand my saying it’s so nice this year with El Nino to not be included in the swath of areas getting the storm right now! Although we would have no problems handling it either.
You might remember us in the news in November 2014 with 5-8 feet of snow that came in one day? It was called the Snovember storm.
The Blizzard of 77 brings back memories of abandoning my car because there were semi trucks jack knifed on Walden Avenue just a short way from one of my bosses houses. It was their great idea I’d be safer following them because I lived out in the country at that time. I often wonder if I’d been better off setting out on my own. I had to stay with them five days. A local garage finally was able to get my car out and the tires were frozen to the street, so four new tires later, I went home. Snowmobiles delivering medications to houses there were driving over our cars not knowing they were there. No damage to them.
        Fun times. Not really.
I wouldn’t miss winter here at all, that’s why I’m so enjoying this mild one!

During that blizzard I was actually working on the second floor of the federal building on Huron street..( Navy Recruiter) At 3 AM everything quieted down, and another recruiter and I went to the basement garage and drove the trusty Navy Dodge valiant to within a mile of our quarters at base housing within the Niagara fall air force base. We walked the rest of the way home.

    • Hirightnow January 23rd, 2016 at 00:01

Why should I have to pay for that? We don’t get snow in Florida.

      • mistlesuede January 23rd, 2016 at 11:52

Why should we pay for your hurricane damage? We don’t get them in NY. :)

        • Hirightnow January 23rd, 2016 at 15:34

          HEY! THAT’S DIFFERENT!

          :P

      • Ed VanDyke January 24th, 2016 at 03:43

Due to your diligent economic patriotism, we pre-melt the snow for you in a giant centrifuge before it even touches Florida ground… ;)

Here in Alexandria we’ve got plenty of snow. Started falling yesterday afternoon, still falling at 6:30, supposed to get heavy for a few hours today. Metro announced yesterday that all buses and trains would not run Saturday and Sunday. All the schools have been closed since Thursday, before the snow even started. Anyone who didn’t get their supplies yesterday, they’re out of luck, because nothing will be open. As long as the power stays on, I’m good.

hehehe….Hunker down Larry…Spring is just around the corner….I have to keep telling me that, so I don’t get so Cabin Crazy…we had our three feet the end of December….My drive way two weeks ago…I am so tired of shoveling snow…

      • Larry Schmitt January 23rd, 2016 at 12:07

I rent, so I don’t have to worry about shoveling, and they’re pretty good about getting it cleared.

For anyone who is interested. That weird act when Sarah Palin blamed the President for her idiot kids PTSD? Well as it turns out, he never saw combat.
    It’s confirmed.
    Track is just an a**hole.

    • Larry Schmitt January 23rd, 2016 at 15:42

So evidently the trauma was when he separated, and found out he might actually have to get a job.

    • robert January 23rd, 2016 at 17:31

this might be news if sarah ever told the truth I think most if not all fact checking websites have her needle as seen below

    • StoneyCurtisll January 23rd, 2016 at 17:41

      No combat…
      Imagine that.

    • maggie January 23rd, 2016 at 18:00

I’m not surprised she’d lie…would not surprise me is Trump is paying Palin….for her “marketing”

      • StoneyCurtisll January 23rd, 2016 at 18:07

Palin is making a god living off her Super PAC..(SarahPAC)
It works just like those TV preachers asking for “seed money”…

Sarah ask for donations to her SarahPAC, (Millions of dollars flow in) she takes a fee for herself, and even more for “consultants” (her family and friends)..
And there are no laws to prevent people stupid enough to send her money.

      • William January 24th, 2016 at 10:44

If he is paying her minimum wage, he’s getting ripped off.

I had read somewhere that he drove officers around in the Green Zone…the stress must have been unbearable….

  14. Larry Schmitt January 23rd, 2016 at 15:43

The snow and wind have picked up again, just like they forecast. It’s cold out there.

    • maggie January 23rd, 2016 at 17:59

      west coast…sun shining…a little rain,…it just sucks…;)

      • StoneyCurtisll January 23rd, 2016 at 18:00

        Thats it….
        Rub it in….;)

      • eyelashviper January 24th, 2016 at 13:28

Cold here in Floriduh, also too. All my semi tropical plants took a hit, and there was ICE in the bird baths…birds very pissed.
Sigh, the only reason to live in Floriduh, and to deal with hurricanes, bugs, gators, rightwing nitwits, and Rick Scott is to have a warm winter..I want my money back.

OT, but a very good read.
