And what would be so wrong with that – it seems to be working in Australia?

  2. whatthe46 January 20th, 2016 at 19:57

boy the NRA sure does know how to reel in the stupid. when any of these idiots read what the Aussies have done (which works great by the way) more paranoid bastards are going to go on another buying spree.

  3. jybarz January 20th, 2016 at 20:20

Yes it will be very bad for the gun/firearm industry, but very good for the country.

    • JoseM4 January 20th, 2016 at 20:28

The NRA mentions it to scare people and increase gun sales.

      • jybarz January 20th, 2016 at 20:59

I know, but I’m talking about real confiscation.

Dog Whistle: “buy more guns…buy more guns…buy more guns…

Idiots fall for it EVERY TIME

The Gun biz is a really crappy way to make money. It’s not just the social stigma increasingly attached to the trade – which has led to boycotts by pension managers and the divestment of Remington Outdoor by Cerberus. These boom-and-bust cycles make it hard to plan for the future and appropriately allocate capital. In this respect, the periodic scares about new gun rules more closely echo the economic consequences of zero interest rates – they bring forward future demand in ways that can backfire.

It explains, for instance, the fate of Colt Defense, the Connecticut-based maker of the revolver that won the West. When times were good in 2009, it engorged on debt to pay dividends to its owners. As demand fell, Colt filed for bankruptcy last year. While Remington has managed to stay afloat, its equity accounted for less than a tenth of its enterprise value when Cerberus offloaded the firm last May.

And everyone will tell you Obama is the greatest gun salesman in the US…truth is, he’s killing the industry.

      Good

    • fahvel January 21st, 2016 at 03:30

are the gun makers and sellers and user any different than the folks who comprise the drug industry, (legal and illegal drugs: pharma and cartel)?

      • Mike January 21st, 2016 at 17:22

Generally speaking, drugs work, and people are living better/happier/longer lives because of it. Even with all the cons, when compared to guns you can’t say we’re living better/happier/longer lives because of them …JMO

If only America would follow Australia.

A lot more of our children would be alive.

Japan’s gun laws are the way to go!

    • Mensa Member January 20th, 2016 at 22:25

I had to Google Japan’s gun laws.

They allow guns for hunting, only.

In 2014, Japan had 0 gun deaths per 100,000!

      • Tommie January 20th, 2016 at 22:28

I also think people should have a right to have guns to protect their families but what you have to go through to get a gun is solid, imo!

        • Mensa Member January 20th, 2016 at 22:36

For good or bad, the current activist Supreme Court agrees with you.

I think their new-found “right” is illegitimate but I can live with it.

A right to “self-protection” is not a right to unregulated military-style weapons.

          • whatthe46 January 20th, 2016 at 22:38

            precisely!!!!!

            • Mensa Member January 20th, 2016 at 22:44

              Thanks for the kudos.

I’m a country-guy who grew up in the gun culture. I understand that people in rural America have different needs for self-protection.

But, I know that a long-barrel shotgun is great self-protection. Nobody needs more than that.

Nobody needs an AR-15, a Glock or military-style weapon for self protection. A shotgun is enough.

image: mensa dude swinging the long barreled shotgun from bad guy to bad guy without touching a single lamp or cup or saucer. You can pretend to be as ready as anyone but you still need to know how to kill – that’s sadly what you are advocating (tommie too) – can you kill, watch that bad guy fly through the air with a belly full of double0.
ugly image, especially if the baddy bleeds all over the white leather couch – get real folks, life in the usa is benign and generally safe.

              • JoseM4 January 21st, 2016 at 03:45

I’m not sure what is more troubling, the number of guns or the destructiveness of those guns (AR-15).

Mine has rock salt in it…I live in a swamp, the rock salt isn’t very good for the gators who like to sun them selves on the patio but it is great for the drug addled scrapers who slide in to raid hubby’s layout yard every year around Christmas.

The only time I have used it was when a particularly naughty, escape artist, billy goat was making hash of the roof of my car.
I missed because I would not get off the porch as long as he was out LOL.

Just shooting it into the air works great for the scrappers though and I don’t have to get off the porch for that ether.

        • fahvel January 21st, 2016 at 03:25

with a gun, how would you protect your family and from whom would you be protecting it from? are you on an ever ready alert system in the home – with at least one family member armed and patrolling at all times? the protection babble is just noise from scared people.

Not a bad idea and the FEMA camps for NRA members

  9. fahvel January 21st, 2016 at 03:22

I saw obama with bear (bare) gryllis(?) last night. Fine to see the pres wandering with an outdoor smile with a creep who kills critters so he can pretend to be a survivor – it only works when there is a cameraman though – all the critters: snakes, turtles, insects occasional unlucky rabbit

    • Candide Thirtythree January 21st, 2016 at 05:47

Is that that barefooted guy? I don’t watch TV but I have passed the den and saw hubby watching it LOL. I thought it was one of the more ridiculous things he has watched and I catch him watching Spongebob or Southpark sometimes hahaha! The funny part is that he is almost 60 and I still would rather him watch cartoons.

  10. JoseM4 January 21st, 2016 at 03:49

Some reasonable people oppose common sense gun control laws because they’re afraid it’s only the first step towards a complete gun confiscation.

  11. William January 21st, 2016 at 08:27

    Just sayin

  12. William January 21st, 2016 at 08:51
