Allen West criticizes U.S. soldiers captured by Iran for not fighting
Former Rep. Allen West continues to show why he should not be in public office.
“The result of two U.S. Navy vessels being boarded and seized by an enemy — which is what the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Navy is — is disturbing,” he wrote on his blog.
“The images and video they took depicting our soldiers on their knees in the position of surrender is damning,” West continued. “This, folks, is an act of war, and our soldiers were captured. Our honor calls upon us to fight, to resist, not surrender.
“The ramifications of not doing so means our honor is now being mocked and we’re seen as nothing more than cowards on our knees. Say what you wish, but that’s the perception in the Middle East, especially to our enemies.”

Exactly. They all want blood and more blood. This is precisely how diplomacy is supposed to work. The vessels were in Iranian waters. Once Iran determined the sailors were not a threat, they fed them and returned them. The sailors thanked the Iranians for their hospitality.
Right wing chickenhawks are always so generous with other peoples lives.

I read that they had engine failure, I am wondering if maybe one did and the other boat stayed to provide protection? It just seems odd these 2 small boats were there without some type of protection.

I am about to get kicked out of one of my Facebook places. My old squadron reunion site. Lots of bloodlust rhetoric and even a meme that spells “My Navy as gone from this (a picture of John Paul Jones to a photo of the Iranians boarding the boats). The Meme maker misspelled the word “has”. I pointed out that we are not at war with Iran. They did just what we would have done, then they fed and returned the sailors. Everyone seems pissed that they didn’t fight it out (even though it looks like they didn’t have ammunition).
I’m sure I’ll be soon branded a “commie”.

Yeah, I only have one squadron buddy I can talk politics too, the rest are right wing nuts. I love talking to them about anything else, but not politics. I posted a cute animal picture on my facebook and one of my ‘buddies’ typed beneath it “I wish people cared more about all the aborted babies like they care about these animals”. I replied “if you ever put this sh!t on my page again, you will be removed. I don’t give two shakes about your beliefs, but you will not share this crap on my page.” He apologized claiming he didn’t realize I posted the picture, he claimed he thought it was just some post that came up on his page and he deleted his comments. I haven’t heard from him since and I don’t feel bad for doing that.

Did it ever occur to you that our boats did go into their waters by mistake and that talking about what happened was all that was necessary?
