Bundy Rejects Offer Of Safe Passage Out Of Federal Building
Ammon Bundy has rejected a safe offer to end the standoff in Oregon.
Bundy met with Harney County Sheriff David Ward, who offered to escort the occupiers out of the state as a way to end the standoff, but Bundy declined.
Bundy had left the compound with other occupiers in two vehicles to meet the sheriff at a neutral location.

An armed conflict would elevate their cause and increase their national exposure. They are simply petty criminals. Treating them as idiots who chose to occupy the most non strategic piece of federal property in the west is likely part of the plan. The American population sees them as annoying idiots who forgot to bring lunch. Little more than the petulant 8 year old who runs away from home and makes it as fat as the back yard.
Charging them with trying to overthrow the government would suggest that they were capable of it. A defense lawyer could easily say to a jury “Ladies and gentlemen does this gaggle of idiots look like they could overthrow a government?”
Wait until they get tired, cold and run out of money and support. Hand them all a summons for trespassing, ask for 30 days in the county lockup, a stiff fine and community service fixing up the park and cleaning up trash.
Save the serious stuff for serious criminals. These guys are a comedy act at best.

well, i might find the fact that they didn’t bring enough supplies to last the years they stated they wait it out, but, i don’t find it funny in the least nor insignificant that they are committing a serious crime. weapons and threats are serious to me. they need to be locked up for a long time not a slap on the damn wrist and 30 days in county. if you’re gonna spend tax dollars on locking them up, make it count.

If there were hostages involved or potential serious damage I could agree. Right now they are squatting in a building made of rocks in the dead of winter at a closed bird sanctuary. I’m not sure what the courts will do. It will be fun to watch.
