The father and son at the heart of the issue. Dwight and Steven Hammond, have turned themselves in, but the militia, whose help they don’t want, isn’t leaving a federal building it is occupying.

The father and son turned themselves in to authorities Monday to serve their sentences, Sheriff David Ward of Harney County, Oregon, told reporters.

Addressing the armed protesters at the federal building directly, Ward said: “You said you were here to help the citizens of Harney County. That help ended when a peaceful protest became an armed occupation. The Hammonds have turned themselves in. It’s time for you to leave our community, go home to your families and end this peacefully.”

Bundy said officials are unfairly punishing the Hammonds for refusing to sell their land. He said it’s an example of the government’s overreach, especially when it comes to land rights.

But according to Billy J. Williams, the acting U.S. attorney in Oregon, the Hammonds were rightfully convicted after setting fire to about 130 acres of public land in an attempt to cover up poaching.

    Bundy is a liar for he claimed his Militia had all it needed to stay where it is for a long time. Bundy then proceeds to send out a call for food and different supplies that they need. Anyone ignorant enough to try to give these people anything should be arrest for attempting to provide aide to enemies of the USA.

    Also by this announcement Bundy is bringing out in the open his true reason for being in Oregon. He and his Militia are there for publicity and to scam off of the public anything else they can get! Do not be fooled by these fakes. Give them nothing!

        strangely enough, they may actually be winning the war against the US Government. With their being CONTINUOUSLY ALLOWED to merely walk away with their STOLEN US MILITARY WEAPONS,

        CONTINUOUSLY ALLOWED to make a complete mockery of the FEDERAL LAW ENFORCEMENT

        CONTINUOUSLY ALLOWED to make a complete mockery of the US JUDICIAL SYSTEM

        THEREBY GIVING FULL CREDENCE TO DPRK rebuttal of Human Rights Violations by pointing out the RACIAL GENOCIDE allowed by the US Government of non whites as being the GREATER VIOLATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS.

        eventually giving complete and total free passes to the WHITE RACIST TERRORIST organizations with every blundering attempt they make at all out armed acts of sedition will wear the people’s will down to the point they will either find another government that guarantees EQUAL TREATMENT UNDER THE LAW or form another government of their own.

    I did a bit of research and discovered that the Hammonds’ case goes back to 2001. This has me wondering why the militia groups waited 14+ years to show their support for them. I’ve reached the same conclusion as Sheriff Ward—they’re using this case to push their anti-government agenda, attempt to create an insurrection and aren’t the least bit interested in really helping the Hammonds.
