You Can Post Here And Our Changes For 2016

Posted by | December 28, 2015 11:13 | Filed under: Forum

Peace on earth would be good place to start. Good will toward all is another. Happy New Year, and here’s to a great 2016. We’ll be making alan.com more of a home page with windows to ColmesFeed.com and Liberaland.com and other sites we have in development. We won’t lose our sense of community, as we’ll have open threads and our chat room on alan.com.

I am grateful for your continued support of this site, and hope you’ll come to love the new ones as well.

Thank you, and Happy New Year!

Alan

Colmesfeed and Liberaland still did not win hearts. Please don’t make substantial change to Alan.com…

    • mea_mark December 28th, 2015 at 11:46

They might work better as windows, especially if there is a way to see what is happening at the other sites while remaining here.

      • Gina Bousquet December 28th, 2015 at 11:54

As long as we keep here the threads where we meet to chat and comment…

        • Alan December 28th, 2015 at 13:27

yes, Gina, there will be threads to comment on alan.com and every story on Colmesfeed.

          • Gina Bousquet December 28th, 2015 at 13:39

Unless all stories here have threads to comment on you know we might disperse.

            • Alan December 28th, 2015 at 15:28

on colmesfeed, every story permits comments as well

              • Gina Bousquet December 28th, 2015 at 16:14

Yes, but you know Colmesfeed was not a success with us!

                • mea_mark December 28th, 2015 at 17:58

I don’t think Alan was targeting the people leaving comments here when he created colmesfeed. It looks to me like he is trying to reach more people by expanding. You can’t measure the success of a site by how many people leave comments. It also takes time for people to even realize something exists. It would be nice if more of us left comments there to help Alan out, but nobody is required to, that’s for sure.

                  • Gina Bousquet December 28th, 2015 at 18:06

Expanding and reaching more people is very good. I think most of us have been there and did not like the format though.

                    • mea_mark December 28th, 2015 at 18:20

Yeah, it’s a wide open format and doesn’t have that small comfy feel that you get here.

                    • Gina Bousquet December 28th, 2015 at 18:43

                      Exactly!

                    • Alan December 28th, 2015 at 20:45

You will have that comfy feeling on the alan.com page before you get to the other sites.

                    • Alan December 28th, 2015 at 18:21

did you take a survey? Would love to see data on that ;)

                    • Gina Bousquet December 28th, 2015 at 18:42

We just left the comments on your first thread presenting the new outlets. I remember our reaction. At least Tracey, Rg, me and about for or five others. The rest did not bother commenting, or going there… Maybe I should have said most of us did not bother…

                  • Alan December 28th, 2015 at 18:21

Mark is correct. My effort is to be as broadly appealing to progressives as possible.

                • Alan December 28th, 2015 at 18:20

Gina, I can’t please everyone, but I hope come to enjoy it.

                  • Gina Bousquet December 28th, 2015 at 18:47

I think you should experiment new possibilities, by all means! But I believe changing what is so appreciated already, as Alan.com is, may be disastrous. Unless you don’t mind losing the regulars.

              • mea_mark December 28th, 2015 at 18:03

Would it be possible to have a list of stories that are at colmesfeed but not here? Perhaps to the right of the page, under the ‘Hot Off the Liberaland Press …’ list of articles.

                • Alan December 28th, 2015 at 18:08

they’ll all be on Colmesfeed, and there’s be a stream of them on the alan.com homepage

                  • mea_mark December 28th, 2015 at 18:16

I was thinking of a list of stuff not here. I want to see what I am missing, without having to figure out if it is at both sites. I would like to easily see and access the stories not being covered here. Right now there is no way to tell at colmesfeed what you are covering here.

For that matter, It might be interesting to experiment with the idea of having the comments section come here, from colmesfeed, when you are covering the story here also. We don’t really need two places to leave comments on the same story.

                    • Alan December 28th, 2015 at 20:47

there won’t be two places. The stuff we cover here will be on Colmesfeed in that format with a comment section. Alan.com will have a post like this where users can post. But if you look at this thread, it’s three people, not the number of people I need to reach to sustain a site.

Good luck, wishing good things to be abundant for you during the New Year that is approaching Alan.
Now, it might just be me and my apple phone, but I’m finding certain post topics to be lacking the full story. I get maybe one paragraph of a story then I search for the “read more” link only to be disappointed it’s a tease.

Thanks for your attention and site, Mr Colmes.

    Craig

    • Alan December 28th, 2015 at 13:27

not sure why that’s happening. I’m hoping it’s your phone and not us :)

    • Gina Bousquet December 28th, 2015 at 13:37

It happens in my phone too, exactly the same.

      • craig7120 December 28th, 2015 at 18:34

        Yeah, weird stuff
Difficult to comment on a subject when you’re getting a portion of the story.
        Happy New Year, Gina
        Be safe

        • Gina Bousquet December 28th, 2015 at 18:50

          You too Craig! :)

keep up the good work….I’m stuck in the Confederacy for a few more years and places like this remind me that the USA still exists! # lifesaver
