Rove: Climate Change Treaty ‘BS’ Because ‘We’ll All Be Dead’ By 2080

Posted by | December 13, 2015 12:32 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Planet Politics

Why worry about what the world is like when we’re all dead?

“We’ll all be dead and very few people sitting in Paris will be alive at that point, I suspect, when we get to 2080,” he opined. “The United States has reduced its greenhouse gas emissions. It has done so, not because some international treaty, we have put the focus on energy efficiency, we’re a market economy, we’re a wealthy country that can afford to do this. And we have done it.”

“What we are now saying to emerging economies, ‘Keep your people poor, keep them in poverty because you cannot use cheap fuels, namely natural gas, coal and other fossil fuels to power your economy.’ And it’s ridiculous.”

Rove proves once again that neither he nor the gopee are scientists

    • Rose McFrog December 13th, 2015 at 13:44

Rove also proves that GOOPers don’t give a shit about our kids.

  2. Larry Schmitt December 13th, 2015 at 12:40

We’ve reduced our emissions? How come I haven’t heard this before? I’m sure it would have been in the news. Not surprised, when I saw it was on Fox, that he wasn’t asked to provide proof of that.

  3. Boltorama December 13th, 2015 at 12:42

Yeah ham and glasses that’s because we’ll be in our late 80s or early 90s.

    • Larry Schmitt December 13th, 2015 at 12:45

      Not me, I’ll be 130.

      • Boltorama December 13th, 2015 at 12:46

I’ll be 86 by then. Damn it I thought me and you could play checkers and remember the good ole days.

        • Larry Schmitt December 13th, 2015 at 12:47

As long as it’s not chess. I hate chess.

          • Boltorama December 13th, 2015 at 12:48

Haha me too. I always lost badly.

            • Larry Schmitt December 13th, 2015 at 12:50

My father taught me how to play when I was a kid, and then, so he would have someone to play against, he bought me a set every Christmas, and I was forced to play him every night during Christmas break. I knew how to play, but I wasn’t interested in developing any strategy, so I was just going through the motions. I was glad when I got old enough to tell him no.

              • Boltorama December 13th, 2015 at 12:56

Wow I imagine it must have been hard finding space in your bedroom or closet for those sets! I played chess with my friends when we were about 10. Had no idea at all how to play LOL. But I was good at jenga. The game where you pile blocks on top of each other without causing the tower to fall.

Oh, there several, but they pop in and out. They also change names so as to try and fool us. But their comments give them away in a hurry. Their one weakness is that they love to argue any thing. And they will try to keep a conversation going as long as they can get someone to argue with them.

                    • Boltorama December 13th, 2015 at 22:40

                      Well there’s strength in numbers.

C’mon, it’s ridiculous to claim we’re asking “emerging economies” to “Keep your people poor…”. Climate change affects the poorest in developing these countries and they know it, it will cost them billions to deal with the changes certain to take place….that’s why the world agreed in Paris that Climate Change is not only real, but a threat. It’s basically 195 countries, 98.8% of scientists, and even the crotchety old Catholic Church vs the Republican Party on this issue….

  7. MyDogsAreSmarterThanYou December 13th, 2015 at 13:20

No sh*t we’ll all be dead by 2080. With a**hats wanting to make sand “glow in the dark,” I doubt we’ll make it another 10 years before there’s global Armageddon.

Fuel is becoming cheap now because you. errrrr I mean your bush is no longer in office, and guess what turd? I am not rich and neither are any of my friends or family. No one that was poor due to your boys term in office is not rich now because the current President has gotten fuel prices down, one does not create the other.

When you show up it has the same effect as someone bringing a big bouquet of flowers into the room. Not only are they lovely and smell nice, but people smile more and feel happier.

                • Suzanne McFly December 14th, 2015 at 19:06

Well we can never meet in person, I don’t want to ruin that thought lol.

                  • burqa December 14th, 2015 at 20:19

                    Tee hee hee!
I think if we met you’d enjoy my company.
I also think I said previously that if we had the Chat Room going I would try to get you in there.
We had a number of people who were pleasant company. It was quite a mix.
There was one Chinese woman in Hong Kong, which is a 12-hour time difference, so 1 in the afternoon here is 1 in the morning there. We had a guy from New Zealand and another from Australia. One woman who was a lot of fun is in Chicago and she’s blind and so sometimes we had to change the way we would type to her. Another major figure was a teenaged gal who was into being a hippy and was loads of fun. There were a couple conservative guys who were also good company, one living in the mountains of southwestern Virginia and the other in North Carolina.
Since we didn’t talk politics much, those differences were taken off the table.

Out of curiosity I just went back and clicked on the Chat Room to see if anyone was there, but the page wouldn’t open. It has, or had a private message feature that was also nice. The rest was primitive as can be. But that was ok, because the main thing all along was communication. Sometimes it got pretty deep and serious, and others it was light and fun.
I think it would be very enjoyable to visit with you in such a forum and I’d like to find one like that somewhere on the internet.

                    • Suzanne McFly December 14th, 2015 at 20:28

I would like to get to know a few people here better also, I thought the chat room was a neat idea. I looked on the new Colmes feed site, but I didn’t see anywhere to click for a chat room, am I looking in the wrong spot?

                    • burqa December 16th, 2015 at 18:00

It’s right at the tippy top of this page in the blue bar with the Alan.com logo. It says “Chat Live.”
I have tried it a few times lately but get an error message.
It used to have this scrolling screen that wasn’t very big.
What made the thing great was the group of people there.
It came to an end when one guy, who seemed ok, was made a moderator and then went nuts! nuts! nuts! and had to argue with everyone all the time.

We used to watch the show and comment. Alan used to have 3 computer screens in front of him. One was Twitter and one was the Chat Room. It was a hoot when the women would get to posting stuff that was beyond flirtatious.

It was so much fun and I liked the others so much I put a lot of effort into being creative and came up with a number of things. I didn’t mind putting in the effort because I liked everyone so much. An example would be my entrances. A lot of times I would wait until I knew everyone else was there to log in. Instead of just showing up, I’d write an intro of a paragraph or two. It would be something like,

[Burqa digs his heels in deeper into the ground and leans backward further, pushing himself backward against the increasing resistance of the giant rubber band he has fastened to two trees and which goes around behind his back. Back….back…..back…..then he lifts his feet and is shot high in the air, doing somersaults, during which he is somehow able to pull out his bong, and take a hit before going through the opened skylight and dropping into his La-Z-Boy in the Chat Room ]
                      Hi everyone!

That’s a short one. Usually for an entrance like that I’d riccochet off buildings before bouncing off a store awning or something, but they always ended with me in my La-Z-Boy and then greeting those present. I mighta been a wisp of smoke coming in under the door that materialized into me, or I might jump out of a soap bubble that drifted in, shoot, there were dozens of them. After a while it wasn’t easy coming up with some new elaborate way of making my entrance so I’d just log on early and be there when the others showed up.

Since we were all listening to the show and talking about it, we’d also call occasionally or wait and have comments for the “Radio Graffiti” feature at the end of the show. Then we’d talk about our calls and that got to be a lot of fun, too.

It was really nice being able to talk with grown-ups in a grown-up fashion. A lot of the time we kept it kinda light, but other times we got into some pretty rich, deep, personal discussions.
We found it worked best with about 8 people in there. When there was a lot the thing would go so fast it was hard to keep up a coherent conversation where everyone was involved.

It finally came crashing down about 2 years ago, but I’m still in frequent contact with a couple of the others. It’s a shame what happened, but for years it was a wonderful, rewarding time in there.
It was an example of what one of these forums can be when there are people of good will and a good moderator.

                    • Suzanne McFly December 16th, 2015 at 20:27

Sounds interesting. I clicked on the link and it said there was an error. I have listened to his show online and there were only a couple people there on the page ‘talking’. I posted a few comments with them and they replied but I was still new here and I felt like I was an outsider. If I went there more often, I would become comfortable with the conversation eventually.

                    • burqa December 16th, 2015 at 21:50

I keep getting that error message too. I didn’t think anyone was there any more. Do you remember the screen names of who was there?

One of my fave creative things I did on there one night was I logged on before anyone and it was a while before anyone showed up so, out of boredom, I started doing my own radio show.
Then as people logged in It would go like this:
Me: “Our next caller is Joe. Where you calling from Joe?”
                      Joe: “Huh”
                      Me: “Where you from?”
                      Joe: “Richmond.”
Me: “Ok, Joe from Richmond, what’s on your mind?”
                      Joe: “Huh?”
Me: “Did you hear the president’s speech tonight?”
Joe: “Uh, well I didn’t want to talk about that”
Me: “Hold on a minute, Joe from Richmond. I need you to turn your radio down.”
                      Joe: “Huh?”
Me: “We’re on tape delay and hearing your radio in the background is distracting. Please turn down your radio.”
                      Joe: “Huh?”
Me:”I need you to turn your radio down.”
                      Joe:”Ok”
Me: “That’s better, what’s on your mind, Joe?”
                      Joe: “Huh?”
Me: “What’s on your mind? If you don’t havet’s on your mind? If you don’t have anything to say I’ll have to move on to the next caller.”

I kept it up for over 2 hours, and asked everyone logging in to turn their radio down. I was even doing commercials and announcing “traffic and weather together on the fives” and all the usual radio schtick.

Lol, pretty funny. I can’t remember their names, it was almost a year ago and I was only there for maybe an hour. I believe they were both women from what I recall, or that is what I got from their avatars and/or names.

I’ll ask around, maybe if a few others are interested in coming back we can get it going again. If so, I’d want you there. You are a fine conversationalist and I like that a lot…..

You’ll be the first I contact.
I hope you saw my post in the Open Thread on “A Christmas Memory.” I have a feeling you would really enjoy it and be moved as I am every year when I watch it. It’s a thing of beauty.

“We’ll all be dead… when we get to 2080…”

–did Karl just let slip… the NeoCon’s proposed nuclear war with Russia??? If we keep on following Karl rove’s buddies Neocon policies, that will probably be true.
