Texas Spends Taxpayer Dollars Suing Feds Over Refugees

Posted by | December 2, 2015 22:00 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics

Texas is suing the federal government to try to stop refugees from coming to the state.

Texas has gone to federal court in its efforts to keep Syrian refugees out of the state, filing suit against the federal government and a refugee resettlement nonprofit.

In a lawsuit filed Wednesday afternoon in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, Attorney General Ken Paxtonclaims the federal government and the International Rescue Committee — one of about 20 private nonprofits that have a state contract to resettle refugees in Texas — are violating federal law by moving forward with the planned resettlement of two Syrian families. One such family is expected to arrive in Texas as soon as Friday.

The lawsuit argues that the federal government and resettlement group have not fulfilled their contractual obligations to consult with, and provide information to, state officials.

Not welcomed, which is a shame! We as Americans have a chance to show the world, even with our faults, that a country with different races can get it together but in comes Trump fu*king up the program with his “speeches”!

as a member of the Union, they are REQUIRED to accept the rulings of the federal government on federal matters (eg: non discrimination of persons for national origin, religious beliefs, color of skin or sexual orientation). an open violation such as this will only result in a federal ruling against Texas – just as Arizona – or any other state that refuses to uphold federal laws of the union.

I have generated 63,000 dollars so far this year working online and I am a full time student. I am attached with an online business entity that I heard about and I have earned such great cash. It is really user friendly and I feel myself lucky to have that option. Why not try this. ewq…

They have the same chance of succeeding at this as they do of seceding from the Union.

It’s a disgrace the way republicans waste taxpayer dollars on lawsuits they know they can’t win, just for political grandstanding. The politicians should have to pay the cost for theses failed lawsuits not the taxpayers. Essentially they are using taxpayer dollars to advertise themselves and they should burden that cost, not the taxpayer.
