334 Days, 351 Mass Shootings
There have been more mass shooting this year in America than there have been days.
It is just the latest in a year of more-than-daily mass shootings in America. In fact, there had already been one mass shooting on Friday — in the early morning hours, two people were killed and two injured in a shooting at a restaurant in Sacramento. Another mass shooting incident in Boston in the early hours of Thanksgiving Day took the life of a Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority rail conductor.
There have been at least 351 mass shootings so far this year, according tonews reports collected by a reddit community that tracks these incidents. The reddit tracker defines mass shootings as incidents in which four or more people, including the gunman, are killed or injured by gunfire. The Mass Shooting Tracker is different from other shooting databases in that it uses a broader definition of mass shooting — the old FBI definition focused on four or more people killed as part of a single shooting.
There were at least 12 mass shootings in the U.S. last week so far, counting the Colorado Springs shooting. That shooting would also be the second mass shooting in Colorado Springs this month.

I wonder how many of those that were injured or murdered were gun zealots? it would be interesting to know. or family members. were they for tighter gun control measures? I don’t know the political make up of San Bernardino.

Slightly off topic, but did you know that the incarceration rate for white males is greater than for black females? Everyone knows there is a big difference between whites and blacks, but few people realize that there is a LARGER difference between males and females. Maybe when we equalize women’s pay we can also equalize the incarceration rates. Deal?

Imprisonment rates:
All Males: 890 per 100,000
All Females: 65 per 100,000
Males are 13.69 times more likely to be incarcerated than females.
Black Males: 2724 per 100,000
White Males: 465 per 100,000
Black males are 5.86 times higher than white males.
Black Females: 109 per 100,000
White Females: 53 per 100,000
Black females are 2.06 times higher than white females.
As you can plainly see, the largest disparity is between males and females. The male/female difference is 13.69, but the black/white difference is only 5.86 for males and 2.06 for females.
White men are incarcerated at 4.27 times the rate of black females. If the black/white disparities prove discrimination against blacks, then the male/female difference proves discrimination against men even more!

If the stats mean nothing, then how do you know that blacks are incarcerated at higher rates than whites? Your reasoning is circular. If the stats are correct, then they prove both your point AND mine.
If the system discriminates against blacks, then it discriminates against men even more. A man is 13 times more likely than a woman to be incarcerated. A black man is 6 times more likely than a white male. If these numbers prove discrimination, then the GENDER discrimination is TWICE as larges as the RACIAL discrimination.
Why don’t more people question that? Why do most people think it is normal to have 13 times as many men in prison as women? People are always complaining about men dominating the workplace, but men also dominate the prison population. There are two sides to this coin.

What you’re ignoring is that only about 10% of the population is black, so black men being incarcerated 5 times more is a ratio abour 40 times as large per capita. Or is the rate determined by % of total population, rather than numbers?

I based my comparison on the rate per 100,000 population. Black males are incarcerated at 6 times the rate (per 100,000) of white men. Men are incarcerated at 13 times the rate of women (per 100,000).
If you think the racial disparity indicates a racial bias in the justice system, how can you NOT think that the gender bias indicates a gender bias? The racial disparity gets a lot of attention, as it should. But the gender disparity is seldom discussed.
If someone says “blacks are more likely to commit crimes than whites”, it is considered racist. But if someone says “men are more likely to commit crimes than women”, that is considered to be “just common sense”. So nobody seems to question the fact that men are incarcerated at 13 times the rate of women. It’s the elephant in the living room that nobody seems to notice.
