Trump University Lawsuit Closer To Trial

Donald Trump may face trial on allegations his “Trump University” misled people who spent up to $35,000 and got little in return.

Trump and his institution, now known as the Trump Entrepreneur Initiative, lost a bid Wednesday in U.S. District Court in San Diego to throw out claims by former students, who were allegedly promised seminars as good as the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton business school –- Trump’s alma mater – that would be taught by “handpicked” instructors.

A pretrial hearing for the five-year-old lawsuit is set for January, according to Bloomberg. The former Trump University students sued in 2010, claiming they were duped by real estate seminars promising “one-on-one mentorship, practical and fail-safe real estate techniques,” and a “power team” of real estate agents, lenders, property managers and contractors.

The school’s initial response to the lawsuit was to countersue the woman who filed it, accusing her of making false statements. Those defamation claims were thrown out last year.

From the first I heard about this, I agreed that tRump was cheating people, but I can’t have much sympathy for people who would listen to the spiel and keep throwing more money down a shithole. What would possess someone to keep paying, up to $35,000, when you saw what they were running? Robert Guillo, the guy in the Daily News story, said this: “As soon as I attended the first workshop, I knew I had been scammed,” Guillo said. “Every single workshop, they charged you another amount. Everything was to get you to spend more and more and more.”
So he knew from the beginning it was a scam, but he kept attending, and kept paying? Doesn’t say much for his smarts.

But somehow he won’t be found personally liable. As with all corporate crimes, no one ever goes to prison. They pay a fine, which comes from the shareholders, and the suits continue to collect their millions and stock options. Jamie Dimon is a perfect example of that. If the execs can take credit for the good times, why don’t they get the blame for criminal acts?

Donnie’s litigation trial may prove fraud, breach and a pattern of corruption for hiring numerous real estate instructors who had declared “Bankruptcy”: “one-on-one mentorship, practical and fail-safe real estate techniques,” and a “power team” of (“Bankrupt”) real estate agents, lenders, property managers and contractors.

In NY real estate most anybody who dealt with Donnie one time, NEVER repeated their mistake ever again.
