Greenwald: Media Is ‘Hungry For War’

Posted by | November 20, 2015 17:56 | Filed under: Media/Show Business War & Peace

Nothing makes a good media story like a war, and Glenn Greenwald recognizes that is what is driving much of the narrative.

“Journalists are hungry for war,” Greenwald said. “You can basically see them drooling.”

Greenwald said “a huge number of people watch CNN and MSNBC when there are wars,” and pointed to President Obama’s news conference in Turkey, “where (journalists) tried to badger him into sending ground troops.”

I am not seeing that at all. I don’t know who Greenwald is, but the shows I watch talks about how we need to avoid war.

I get that but that does not make his word credible, if anything that removes any sense of credibility he may of ever had.

Greenwald, a “journalist” is best known for being the public face of Edward Snowden. People tend to love or hate him. The Daily Banter hates him, HuffPo sees him differently.

there is more then you can handle on fox news with very little interruption on keeping the peace

#1 for 80 year old men who are pervs and want to see a lot of cleavage and thighs as they are told they are the true Americans.

any group of woman who look forward to fleet week in NYC isn’t worth fantasizing over.

Glenn Greendrone is a self aggrandizing sensationalist who plays loose with facts and is the darling of some on the left. After years of commenting on Crooks & Liars, I was banned for not showing enough Greenwald worship and not enough admiration for Snowden (his pet cause).

      • Suzanne McFly November 21st, 2015 at 20:22

Screw that, I am not automatically on the side of people simply because they claim to be a leftist. On the left, we can think for ourselves and that is where our strength lies, not in blindly supporting people we don’t even know, that is what is destroying the right. They opened the doors to the cruz and rumpster types, now they are on the Titanic trying to throw each other off.

I appreciate differences of opinions on issues…..you are one of those people who expresses yourself appropriately… moderators shouldn’t exit people for simply disagreeing….only if they are being threatening….

Here’s a CNN reporter basically proving Greenwald’s thesis:

      • Suzanne McFly November 22nd, 2015 at 10:29

Don’t be silly, one event does not prove a thesis, but that was cute. President Obama did respond using strong language and made the guy look kind of clueless, so if that is all the media has in trying to get us back into war, I consider it an epic fail.

        • Chris November 22nd, 2015 at 13:09

I understand one reporter does not make the case. But you must also consider just these other examples:

          1. The amount of adulatory and uncritical press Netanyahu got in this country pushing us for war with Iran. http://www.mintpressnews.com/torpedoing-the-deal-us-media-promotes-israel-lobbys-campaign-against-iran-deal/209200/

          2. The thinly veiled Rubio bleatings about shooting down Russian planes, an act of war of course, with little press comment. http://www.breitbart.com/video/2015/10/10/marco-rubio-urges-attacks-russian-aircraft-syria/

          3. Trump. Take your pick. He on a weekly basis makes at least one comment beating the war drums with China, Russian, Iran, etc. You could make the case that it’s hard for the press to keep up with the insanity, and I could sympathize. But that’s their job.

And, of course, in 2002-2003, the uncritical press the Bush administration rolled over in the run-up to the Iraq War.

Of course, we can’t say EVERYONE in the press is for war. That’s nonsensical. But I would have to agree with Greenwald’s general premise. And I, as a rule, do not usually agree with Greenwald.

No one drools more for war than the gopee…they revel in the blood, gore , pain and useless loss of life…not to mention all the money they make

  3. Tommie November 20th, 2015 at 23:30

There is nothing more important then those ratings and getting that advertisement money!

  4. fahvel November 21st, 2015 at 02:42

  5. Warman1138 November 21st, 2015 at 03:06

” Remember the Maine ”, that sold a lot of newspapers and got us into a war. Isn’t much different today, that’s what handed GW a blank check.

the media does certainly bait the political conversation….and they are hawks…basically ….from the nut jobs to the moderates….
