Report: Suspected Terrorists Buying Guns In U.S.

Posted by | November 18, 2015 14:49 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics

With our lax gun laws, it’s not surprising to learn that it’s a haven for terrorists buying guns.

As early as 2011, an American traitor, a so-called Jihad Joe (a man named Adam Gadahn) started urging American wannabe jihadists via YouTube to take advantage of lax American gun laws, which he called a “golden opportunity,” to rush out and legally buy assault weapons in order to kill us.

And we did nothing.

To this day, our laws still allow suspected terrorists to buy hand guns and assault weapons.

Despite that disgusting video — in which the Oregon-born, California-bred, now-dead terrorist who sounds like a TV pitchman on Prozac — the NRA, along with too many pols and lunatics running for President, continue to pledge to block any attempts to change guns laws.

That’s one helluva golden opportunity in the land of opportunity.

Gadahn, a homeschooled hoodlum in a headscarf, even advised: “America is absolutely awash in easily obtainable firearms. You can easily go to the local gun show … and come away with a fully loaded assault rifle without a background check and most likely without having to show an identification card.”

The one that now limits membership to Republicans only.

  2. Willys41 November 18th, 2015 at 15:47

Yeah, this is now the new right-wing-dimwit argument for rejecting immigrants and refugees: it’s too easy for terrorists to buy guns here.

    • granpa.usthai November 18th, 2015 at 18:49

to rush out and legally buy assault weapons in order to kill us.

And we did nothing…….Well that is inaccurate, we did a lot of things like removing the need for background checks or not stopping people from buying 100 high-power rifles with a million bullets. We have done a lot, but not to protect us.

    • Kyle November 18th, 2015 at 21:55

You must submit to a background check when you purchase a firearm, it’s the law. Has been for quite some time.

      • Obewon November 18th, 2015 at 22:00

The gun show loophole, the friends/straw-buyer loophole & the internet gun buys are why the FBI/ATF says: 35% to 40% of U.S. guns sold evade background checks. And the 2% of FFL’s who are illegal crooks selling to DHS watch listed Terrorist suspects and convicted FELON murderers!

        • Kyle November 18th, 2015 at 23:02

Lol, the gun show loophole. There it is. The outright lie all Obama-lovers believe. The FBI never said such a thing. Even internet gun purchases require a background check, sweet cheeks.

          • William November 18th, 2015 at 23:04

I purchased my Swedish Mauser at a gun show. Time about 10 minutes cash deal.
            Try again

            • Kyle November 18th, 2015 at 23:05

              Licensed dealer, or private transfer?

              • William November 18th, 2015 at 23:07

THat’s the whole point of this conversation numbnuts.
                I don’t actually know.
I also bought a nice barrel for my M-1 Garand. I didn’t even have my wallet on me.

                • Kyle November 18th, 2015 at 23:09

Well, numbnuts, learn the law. You should have asked, because if he was dealer, you both committed a felony. You paid cash for a gun without your wallet. Do you also walk without legs?

                  • William November 18th, 2015 at 23:12

THe whole point of this post is how easy it is to purchase a gun. The gunshow loophole does exist. I carry cash in my righthand pocket and usually leave my wallet in my vehicle console. You are clearly ignorant of the law.

                    • Kyle November 18th, 2015 at 23:14

It can be depending on the circumstances. Legal or illegal. But, it’s all the more reason to give people the means to protect themselves. There will always be black market guns. France is a good example of how strict gun laws fail. Congratulations on your felony.

                    • William November 19th, 2015 at 00:19

It can be depending on the circumstances.

                      Whoa whoa..Stop trying to divert.

YOU indicated here that the gun show loophole doesn’t exist. You’re clearly full of shit on that one. Now you want to talk about France.

So? Lets talk about France shall we?

Based on numbers from The Washington Post in 2012, the U.S. averaged 3.2 gun-related homicides per 100k people – the overwhelming leader in the modern world. How many did France average? A grand total of .06 gun-related homicides per 100k people.

                      Your move Scooter.

                    • William November 18th, 2015 at 23:25

Wrong again Skippy. I have accessed NCIC (that’s the actual acronym) myself and surprisingly you can enter or access people who don’t *gasp* have a drivers license. Not all gun owners drive.
                      Keep embarrassing yourself

                    • Kyle November 18th, 2015 at 23:40

Yes, most people call it’s NICS, but NCICS is the proper acronym. You can get state or government issued ID, can you not? A drivers license is not the only form of ID.

                    • William November 18th, 2015 at 23:42

You didn’t write that. you wrote.

“A license is required for NICS.”
Seriously? Do you simply brush it off every time you get caught in a lie, or do you just think nobody notices?

                    • Kyle November 18th, 2015 at 23:54

A License, or govt issued ID(all similar) is required. You have to prove who you are. Of course since you can’t logically argue, you would cling to something like “license”. But, what do you care? You buy guns illegally.

                    • William November 18th, 2015 at 23:57

Stop back peddling every time you get caught lying, it’s degrading

                    • Kyle November 19th, 2015 at 00:09

How is that lying?… Oh wait, your a liberal… ‘nough said.

                    • William November 19th, 2015 at 00:15

You stated a person needed a license for NCIS. That’s a lie. Is your short term memory just as screwed up as your understanding of basic mathematics?

                    • whatthe46 November 19th, 2015 at 00:22

the Iraq’s attacked us on 9/11. repuking lie. the iraq’s had wmd. repuking lie. PP is selling baby parts. repuking lie. a live baby was filmed being cut apart by PP. repuking lie. well, you get the picture.

                    • whatthe46 November 18th, 2015 at 23:26

“It can be depending on the circumstances. Legal or illegal. But, it’s
all the more reason to give people the means to protect themselves.” the fact that you had the audacity to spew that retarded ass post seriously suggest you are among the fk’n dumbest dipshits and deserve the most assinine statement in the last fk’n decade.

murder by gun in France 2012 – 140. murder by gun in the US the same year, over 8000. so, what were you saying?

                    • Kyle November 18th, 2015 at 23:33

Another failed attempt. Account for population, spunky, and the US falls on the list. 66 million vs. 319 million, and suddenly we see why there’s such a big difference.

We can get our asinine awards together. But, I seriously doubt I would win.

                    • whatthe46 November 18th, 2015 at 23:55

ok dipshit. do you think that 140 deaths is high because of the population? 66 million people is nothing to fk’n sneeze at. 140 can happen in a month in the US. and it would be much less than 8+thousand if there were stricter gun laws. babies die everyday here because of guns, because anyone can possess one. your argument over population size means nothing.

                    • William November 18th, 2015 at 23:58

Scroll up. I posted the per 100 k deaths for France and the USA and he actually didn’t understand it. Someone that dim shouldn’t have weapons.

                    • Kyle November 18th, 2015 at 23:59

Yes, your own post that you don’t understand. Do you know why they use a per 100K figure?

                    • William November 19th, 2015 at 00:00

                      (this should be good)
                      Go ahead… *snicker*

                    • Kyle November 19th, 2015 at 00:03

I replied to your other post. It’s awaiting approval from liberland.

                    • Kyle November 19th, 2015 at 01:04

Yes, understand your own logic. Per 100K people does not account for population differences. It’s just the manner a study was conducted. It would be per 100K people for 66 million total vs the US at per 100K for 319 million total. Get it, stupid. That’s why those studies are shit and liberals use them

                    • MyDogsAreSmarterThanYou November 19th, 2015 at 10:04

                      Good? I doubt it.
Hilarious, and yet absolutely pathetic? Most assuredly.

                    • MyDogsAreSmarterThanYou November 19th, 2015 at 10:03

Elementary school level probability is not a liberal plot, you retard.

                    • whatthe46 November 19th, 2015 at 00:02

that’s why it’s fricken useless trying to explain.

                    • William November 19th, 2015 at 00:11

Seriously. I mean a number per 100k. How hard is that? I could get a 9 year old on board with that in like 10 minutes.
                      3.2 per 100k
                      Vs.
                      0.6 per 100K
This is way too much like trying to teach a turtle to sing.

                    • granpa.usthai November 19th, 2015 at 03:35

don’t know about that, granpa wil.

nothing in the 2nd amendment says you have to have any coherent intelligence which is why it might be a good idea to start having mental institutions arming up with Tsar bombs without instructions !?! (WTH good are written instructions to crazy people in any language?)

but- I just got this feeling that Kyle may have just chosen to strap on a big plastic water filled dildo, which, is also perfectly legal under the 2nd amendment (no specifications of types of arms) and it would be illegal for any of US to infringe on his right to do so.

                    • William November 19th, 2015 at 09:21

LOL I believe you have found a new term to describe your incredible gift with words. I’m going to call it “Snogic”. It’s a delicious blend of snark and logic. Thanks. I’m still laughing.

                    • Kyle November 18th, 2015 at 23:58

That’s just one night, top shot. We tried stricter gun laws, and they didn’t help. Violent crime is at a 50 year low.

                    • granpa.usthai November 19th, 2015 at 03:25

so, China has about 1,500,000,000 and India has about 1,300,000,000. what exactly are you trying to get at?

                    • MyDogsAreSmarterThanYou November 19th, 2015 at 10:00

He always gets to the same place.
                      “I am an absolute moran.”

                    • MyDogsAreSmarterThanYou November 19th, 2015 at 09:59

Okay, dingaling, let’s play it your way. France had 140 murders by gun, the US had 8000. France has 66 million people, the US 319 million. I’ll do the necessary math to figure out what number we need to multiply France’s gun deaths by in order to make it comparable to the US number, as you’re likely to start bleeding out of your wherevers if you were to try. The number is 4.83. So, we multiply 4.83 by 140 and get roughly 677. Now I suppose you’re going to tell me that 677 is greater than 8,000.

                    • Larry Schmitt November 19th, 2015 at 10:07

Using MyDogs’ figures, the French murder rate by guns is .0000021, the US rate is .000025. Their rate is 8.4% of ours. Does that make it plain enough? You have to talk about rates, not absolute numbers.

                    • William November 18th, 2015 at 23:27

                      Speaking of France…

Based on numbers from The Washington Post in 2012, the U.S. averaged 3.2 gun-related homicides per 100k people – the overwhelming leader in the modern world. How many did France average? A grand total of .06 gun-related homicides per 100k people.

You’re batting about zero there Corky. Care for a lifeline?

                    • Kyle November 18th, 2015 at 23:34

                      Population, sparky, population….

                    • William November 18th, 2015 at 23:38

Hey stupid..what is it about PER 100K you don’t understand?
I’ll break it down for you and type slowly
that’s murders per 100 thousand people
USA 3.2 gun related homicides per 100 thousand.
France .06 gun related homicides per 100 thousand.
Read slowly, and don’t hurt your forehead when you finally get it.

                      geezers!

hey, Kyle, do you guys use slippery soap in the showers?

                    • Kyle November 18th, 2015 at 23:37

130 people dead in one night in a country where guns are heavily restricted. Our worst mass shooting was 32 people. Care to explain how that’s possible? Need a lifeline?

                    • William November 18th, 2015 at 23:39

Not all of them were shot. there were grenades involved as well as a suicide bomb.
have you figured out per thousand yet?

                    • Kyle November 19th, 2015 at 01:12

Have you? Nobody died from the suicide vest. Understand your own logic. Per 100K people does not account for population differences. It’s just the manner a study was conducted. It would be per 100K people for 66 million total vs the US at per 100K for 319 million total. Get it, stupid. That’s why those studies are shit and liberals use them

NRA’s gun injured in the U.S. average more than 100,000 people shot annually! Every day in the USA an average of 289 people are shot by guns. http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/01/16/16547690-just-the-facts-gun-violence-in-america?lite White guys remain most likely to shoot themselves.

Eighty-six of them die: 30 are murdered, 53 kill themselves, two die accidentally, and one is shot in a police intervention, the Brady Campaign reports. Each year 33,000 are killed by guns in the USA with 100,000 shot annually.

                    • MyDogsAreSmarterThanYou November 19th, 2015 at 09:40

Yes, 130 dead in one night. Now, do you think there have been more, or less, than 130 homicides by firearm in the US since last Friday?

Only FFL dealers are required to process background checks, you freaking moron. There is no requirement that a gun show only host FFL dealers.

folks can carry other stuff in their pockets without a wallet, legally, even a big plastic dildo that squirts water! Nothing in the 2nd amendment says you can only carry specified arms.

                    JUMP INTO LIFE BOY!

Oh, who am I kidding. You don’t even think people can buy firearms at a gun show with a background check.

                  springfield, winchester or other?
use to have a Winchester years ago but very few places to shoot in NC so traded to replace some stolen tools.
(kinda lost my interest in guns over the years, then, when a 14 year old girl was killed at Carowinds from a stray 7.63 x 39 mm round fired by a MORON an estimated half mile away, lost interest completely).
one of the best and most accurate rifles of all time.
30.06 – 8 shot clips and a very sore thumb if not careful.
hope you are using special caution with it?
168 grams of hot lead traveling along at 2800 feet per second could give anybody a bad DU day.
TOO much power for the east coast, but I’ve got an old acquaintance I met years ago swears by the 30.06 when hunting in Idaho.

                  • William November 19th, 2015 at 09:26

The Garand was one of those rifles squirreled back to the USA in the 80’s. The barrel was hopelessly pitted (mercuric primers I suppose). I refinished the wood cleaned it up and keep it as a piece of history. It’s illegal to hunt with a large capacity magazine or clip in Maine on a semi auto. A well meaning friend made a 4 round magazine and gave it to me.
Just in case I wanted to actually go deer hunting with a rifle that weighs nearly 12 pounds.
I haven’t hunted in decades but my caliber of choice is 8mm mauser.

“Federal law does not require dealers to conduct a background check

            if a
firearm purchaser presents a state permit to purchase or possess
firearms that meets certain conditions. As a result, handgun license
holders in Texas are exempt from the federal background check requirement when purchasing a handgun.2
(Note, however, that people who have become prohibited from possessing
firearms may continue to hold state firearms licenses if the state fails
to remove these licenses in a timely fashion.)” “Texas does not require private sellers (sellers who are not licensed
dealers) to initiate a background check when transferring a firearm. See our Private Sales policy summary for a comprehensive discussion of this issue.”

            http://smartgunlaws.org/background-checks-in-texas/

            • Kyle November 18th, 2015 at 23:26

Because they have a state permit, jackass. They already submitted to a background check. It is federal law, and has been for a long time. The situation is similar in NJ. You apply for a purchasing permit through the state, then go buy a gun and show the dealer your permit.

              • whatthe46 November 18th, 2015 at 23:35

and if you get that permit before being restricted for lets say a felony, you can still purchase a weapon, because there’s no requirement to see if he/she has a record.

and private sellers doesn’t require a permit or a background check.

              • whatthe46 November 18th, 2015 at 23:41

lets try this again, pay attention. Known as the “gun show loophole,” most states do not require background checks for firearms purchased at gun shows from private individuals — federal law only requires licensed dealers to conduct checks.

                • Kyle November 19th, 2015 at 00:11

Private transfers are totally legal. And very few guns are obtained this way. About 11 percent.

                  • whatthe46 November 19th, 2015 at 00:53

that’s not true, the number is much higher than that.
“More than a decade ago, Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold opened fire on
their classmates at Columbine High School using a semiautomatic rifle,
pistol and shotguns they purchased through acquaintances who had visited
a local gun show. There was no required record of the sale and no
background check; just an exchange of cash and a handshake.”

“In March 2010, John Patrick Bedell strolled up to the Pentagon and
started shooting at two police officers with a semiautomatic handgun.
Months before the attack, he tried to buy a gun in California but was denied, after a background check showed he had a documented history of mental illness. So Bedell instead went to neighboring Nevada, where gun laws are more lenient, and bought a 9mm handgun from a private seller who didn’t have to check out his history.”

“Both incidents point to a major loophole in the nation’s system of regulating firearms,
experts say: Private parties can buy and sell guns in many parts of the
country with little or no scrutiny from state and federal authorities. Nearly 40 percent of gun transactions in America occur through so-called private party sales, creating a secondary firearms market that is largely invisible.”

                    11% my ass.

                    • William November 19th, 2015 at 00:55

Hence the dilemma. Do I simply deduce that Goofus is trying to weasel his way out of his own lies, bullshit and innuendo, or do I except the fact that he doesn’t understand basic fractions. In the case of the former I have wasted my time. As for as the latter, I have likely taken advantage of someone who for reasons of genetics, environment or perhaps cranial injury has lost a lot of insulation in his attic. That unto itself is beneath the art of debate.

                • Dwendt44 November 19th, 2015 at 00:11

And dealers avoid that law, if it is even a law, when they set up at a gun show as a private citizen and not as an ‘official’ dealer.
Texas doesn’t require a background check and some states only require one for handguns, not rifles.

                  • whatthe46 November 19th, 2015 at 00:42

exactly. dealers don’t care about a piece of paper unless it’s green and made by the govt. or your card reads approved when swiped. and i don’t understand why background checks are required for rifles. if i’m not mistaken, don’t they use bullets that can kill as well.

              • MyDogsAreSmarterThanYou November 19th, 2015 at 09:28

Not all states require a permit, jackass. And no background check is mandated by federal law for private sales. God, you’re dumb.

actually they can get a much better deal on the Asian ‘black market’ than the republican buy 1 assault weapon and get 2 free sales pitch.

since the {collapse} of the Soviet union there are many central Asian ‘republics’ strapped for cash that are awash with old style nuclear weapons. While not as pretty and shiny as the newly made ones, they still pack quite a wallop – AND – with adequate carrying systems.

all ISIS needs to do is have enough finances through offshore banks that need not inform the US Government of their ‘profit making’ schemes and WHALA!

ISISland is fully nuclearized – now what?

Yes many liberals here are gun owners, many are also former gun owners.
Even you Pat Riot may be able to guess: why the USA went from 51% gun owner households in the late 1970’s, plummeting to just 31% today?
Why did so many give up gun owning?

      • Kyle November 18th, 2015 at 22:01

Oh, yeah? They own an item they speak out against? That’s very liberal. I don’t know where you get your numbers, but that’s a pretty poor attempt to bash gun ownership. It’s the highest it’s ever been. There more guns now than ever.

            • granpa.usthai November 19th, 2015 at 01:55

who jumped to Republican during the early 60’s.

            • MyDogsAreSmarterThanYou November 19th, 2015 at 09:12

Yeah, because absolutely nothing has changed concerning America’s political parties and their ideologies in the last 150 years or so.

            • arc99 November 19th, 2015 at 11:12

back when Democrats were the more CONSERVATIVE of the two parties. no surprise at all..

        • William November 18th, 2015 at 22:05

You seem to have made the mistake of believing that somehow liberals don’t own guns.

I can assure you we do

Further. The filthiest of gun hugging draft dodging pedophiles

              Hey stupid
Bill Clinton is NOT a conservative
              try again.

            • MyDogsAreSmarterThanYou November 19th, 2015 at 09:11

              Bill Clinton entered the draft.

          • Dwendt44 November 19th, 2015 at 00:05

Not to mention Wayne Lapew, the ‘face’ of the NRA, a terrorist organization. Old LaPew got out of the draft due to a mental condition.

        • Dwendt44 November 19th, 2015 at 00:02

There may well be more guns now than ever, but they are in the hands of fewer and fewer people. It’s not unusual to find gun nuts with 30,40 and even 50 guns. With only two hands, one wonders why.

        • MyDogsAreSmarterThanYou November 19th, 2015 at 09:06

Yeah, there’s a difference between the gun ownership rate, and the number of guns owned in total. You’re no good at this.

          • whatthe46 November 19th, 2015 at 09:16

he’s good at being ignorant. and willfully so.

      • Kyle November 18th, 2015 at 22:06

Interesting picture. But, guns are used 2.5 million times a year in self-defense. Law-abiding citizens use guns to defend themselves against criminals as many as 2.5 million times every year — or about 6,850 times a day. This means that each year, firearms are used more than 80 times more often to protect the lives of honest citizens than to take lives. As many as 200,000 women use a gun every year to defend themselves against sexual abuse.

Armed citizens kill more criminals than the police. Citizens shoot and kill at least twice as many criminals as police do every year (1,527 to 606) And, only 2 percent of civilian shootings involved an innocent person mistakenly identified as a criminal. The ‘error rate’ for the police, however, was 11 percent, more than five times as high.

    • William November 18th, 2015 at 21:59

I am a retired member of the military. I am also a former police officer. I was qualified in four specific handguns as well as the rifle and shotgun carried in my cruiser.
I have a modest collection and am very well versed in ballistics as well as the origin and identification of weapons on an international basis.
So why don’t you take your condescending trolling bullshit somewhere else.
      Adults are talking

      • Kyle November 18th, 2015 at 22:10

What bullshit would you be referring to? Do you consider a constitutional right to be bullshit?

What branch did you serve in? How many years? And what was your MOS?

        • William November 18th, 2015 at 22:18

          USN, we don’t have MOS’s 20 years six months 13 days. 8251.
Not that it has anything to do with gun control.
Chiming in here and spouting BS and simply assuming nobody here has ever purchased a weapon was your first mistake.
Trying to hide behind the second amendment as an excuse for the slaughter of this nations citizens is your second.
I’m sure you’ll make a few more before you’re done.

I didn’t know the NRA supported water squirting arms?

so – you can like legally strap on a big plastic dildo that squirts water and walk around walmart and nobody can stop you without violating your 2nd amendment right to keep and ‘bare’ ’cause they are not allowed to infringe?

                sheesh!

          • Kyle November 18th, 2015 at 22:31

            Precisely.

Most liberals haven’t the slightest idea how to handle a firearm, or even the buying process. Now, the 2ND Amendment is some slaughter clause in our constitution? It’s what enables you to protect yourself against senseless slaughter. When seconds count the police are minutes away.

            • whatthe46 November 18th, 2015 at 22:42

millions upon millions of liberals own guns. the difference between us the the rwnj’s is, liberals don’t need a penis substitute, rwnj’s do.

            • William November 18th, 2015 at 22:43

Well you are of course wrong again. You somehow want to label people. I come from a family of liberals. All the males since 1842 (except grandpa) served. Dad, WWII south pacific, all my brothers, veterans. I’d say about 60 percent of my VFW and American legion friends Democrats and maybe half of those die hard liberals.
You are no different than the other “patriots” who chimed in here and started spouting nonsense about liberals not having any idea or knowledge of weapons. There are more than a few. Including a Viet Nam combat veteran.
You somehow want to give the impression that conservatives have a monopoly on gun expertise and liberals have for the most part have never held a weapon.
You will find some of the most ardent supporters of sensible gun control here are such partially because of their hands on experience.
You can cut and paste all the NRA “armed citizen” propaganda that you want but the fact is more kids die from gunshots in this country then from cancer. We lead the developed world in gun violence, and that is a simple fact.
Your insecurities do not trump the lives of my kids or grandchildren.
Quoting a select part of a Constitutional amendment is a pathetic excuse to condone the death of children. You’re a disgrace.

              • Kyle November 18th, 2015 at 22:52

Well, by your logic I guess it would really be the founding fathers who condone the death children. They wrote the amendment, not me. I just support it.

Actually when you account for population, we don’t lead the world in gun violence. Keep trying.

                • William November 18th, 2015 at 22:58

Stop telling me what my logic dictates. The old Limbaugh “What you REALLY think, is, must be etc.” doesn’t work here.
The founding fathers have nothing to do with the slaughter of children in the twenty first century. Try to stay on subject.
                  BTW
The so called “founding fathers” were largely white slave owners who didn’t want to pay taxes.
                  Further.
Jefferson would in todays world be likely be in jail and at very least be listed as a lifetime sex offender for impregnating his 14 year old servant.
Seriously knock it off with the founding fathers crap.

only takes a nuke a millisecond to take out any ‘senseless slaughter’ once critical mass is reached.

that’s much faster than the time frame you’re setting up – AND anything that has upset you, caused you pain or grief (nosey neighbor-white racist terrorist THAT ARE illegally armed with STOLEN US MILITARY WEAPONS they transport freely across the USA such as in Nevada) anywhere in your city and/or half county…

              POOF!

all little tiny specks of green glowing dust floating serenely high up in the upper stratosphere.

can’t be much safer than that.

and the United States Constitution sez you have the right to keep and bear them and not be infringed upon.

When brains count, you’re sh*t out of luck.
The buying process? You mean the process the moron in Maine was going through when he shot his girlfriend in the head in a supermarket parking lot while attempting to sell a weapon? That process? Surely you’re not suggesting that purchasing a gun in the US is really all that difficult.
As for most liberals not having the slightest idea on how to handle a firearm, I suppose all those stupid Open Carry idjits that like to flag people on a regular basis are liberals. Haha, tell me another one.

“Well regulated”-2nd Amendment ratified omitted from NRA HQ wall.

thank you for letting more people in the USA know it is their CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT to have a fully functional nuclear arms in their homes. sometimes I don’t think they understand what shall not be infringed really means.
Ain’t it wonderful to know our Muslim Americans have the right to defend themselves against WHITE RACIST TERRORIST with arms they have a full Constitutional Right to keep and bear?

“Per 100K people does not account for population differences”
    Are you kidding
per 100K is EXACTLY what is used to show comparisons because of population differences.
    Seriously. Get your GED.

  15. Obewon November 19th, 2015 at 02:26

You remain unanimously debunked by facts: 33,000 Americans are killed by U.S. guns annually, plus 100,000 shot in the USA each year.

    • granpa.usthai November 19th, 2015 at 03:18

duh – I’d like to come to the defense of Alaska if I may.
This is the land of wild party goers that often become very violent when drunk and not be able to remember who they are, so naturally, one would expect there to be a slightly higher death rate.

      • Obewon November 19th, 2015 at 03:25

Yeah right. If only the Palinbrawlers had guns! The little ones were playing on an active runway, after the the moms were repeatedly told ‘get your kids off of the runway! Planes are landing now…’ Luckily no Granny Palin, Trig, or Trip runway splats at their drunken brawl.

Freaking idiot doesn’t even understand elementary school level probability. We’re clearly wasting our time here, but sometimes it’s just fun to bat morons around like a kitten would a dead mouse.

  16. MyDogsAreSmarterThanYou November 19th, 2015 at 09:50

Yes, actually, it does account for population differences. Here, let me break it down Barney style for someone who has obviously never taken a statistics class.
Say we have two populations, one consisting of 100,000 people, and another consisting of 1 million people. The population of 100,000 experiences 10 homicides per year, and the population of 1 million has 90. Now, an uneducated dolt, such as yourself, would look at those numbers and would say “Wow! I better not go live with that group of 1 million people, because they had 9 times as many homicides as the other group.” But if you account for the disparity in population size, by breaking down the populations into comparable groups (a convenient number might be, oh I don’t know, 100,000?), then we can see that you are actually more likely to be a victim of homicide in the smaller group than in the larger one. Because 10 instances in a population of 100,000 is more than 9 instances per 100,000 people.

    • Kyle November 19th, 2015 at 10:42

It does not account for a total population. It does accurately describe crimes per 100,000 people, but it is based on the total population of people living in a given country. A French homicide rate at .6 per 100,000 figure is achieved calculating in their 66 million people population. You cannot compare a population of 320 million people against 66 million, even using per 100,00 and say “why can’t we be more like them?” It is only representative of that specific countries population. It would be accurate if you were comparing say, two cities or even states within the country. A homicide occurs in France .6 times for every 100,000 people in a population of 66 million. In the US a homicide occurs 3.2 times for every 100,000 in a population of 320 million. 100,000 is just the denominator, nothing more. This isn’t difficult.

To really dumb this down: France has a population of 66 million people. The homicide rate is .6 per 100,000. So, they have 660 so called groups of 100,000 people. In the US we have a homicide rate of 3.2 per 100,000 with a population of 320 million or 3,200 groups of 100,000. See the difference. You’re comparing a grape and a watermelon and saying “why can’t the watermelon be more like the grape”. It’ll never happen. The size difference is too great to compare. The groups can’t be comparable when the entire population is factored. Which is how they come to the rates in the first place.

      • MyDogsAreSmarterThanYou November 19th, 2015 at 10:51

No really, you’re wrong. You are less likely to be a victim of gun violence in France than you are in the United States. It’s really basic stuff.
You’re somehow, however stupidly, attempting to say that one is more likely to be a victim of gun violence in France that one is in the United States, simply because France has a smaller population. Hey, Honduras has an even smaller population than France, they must be really safe, right? I mean, after all, they only have about 80 groups of 100,000, so their homicide rate must not mean all that much.
I implore you to go find a statistics professor. They will be more than happy to inform you that you’re dumber than dirt. Though they may use nicer words.
