Los Angeles Votes To Store Guns In Locked Containers With Trigger Locks

The Los Angeles City Council past a law to make it less likely a stray gun can cause damage.

Under the ordinance, handguns will need to be disabled and kept on the owner’s person or within close enough proximity that it is in the owner’s control.

The measure aims to prevent guns from falling into the hands of children who may accidentally fire the weapons.”When a gun is not properly stored in the home and a theft occurs, that gun is much more likely to be used as a crime gun out on the streets and then we’re all affected by that,” L.A. City Councilman Paul Krekorian said. “People who want to keep their guns at home may do so, but they will be expected and will be mandated under law to engage in safe storage practices.”

“I am tired and I know you all are too of reading of grieving parents who have lost their children through unintentional and totally preventable shootings,” said Laurie Saffian with Women Against Gun Violence.

Of course the NRA is butthurt. Because putting a framework in place for imposing penalties on the irresponsible and provably negligent is beyond the comprehension of psychopaths.

Uh oh, common sense never goes over well with the right or the NRA.

Here we go again with Mommy and Daddy government interfering in people’s personal lives. This is good news for the criminal element knowing that the homeowner will be unable to bring his/her weapon to bear in a reasonable amount of time.

you know what else promotes gun violence? when police departments sell confiscated guns putting them back on the streets….they need to stop doing this if anyone is going to believe they have any interest in reducing gun violence…but hey LA…”good on you mate” for putting on your big pants and doing something…Cheers, Maggie
