Carson Would End Medicare

Posted by | October 24, 2015 20:00 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics

Ben Carson would end one of the most popular programs in the history of the country.

…Carson told CNBC that he would “replace more than just Obamacare with his plan for health savings accounts. He also wants his plan to replace all health insurance except for catastrophic coverage. He even wants it to replace Medicare—the extraordinarily popular health program for the elderly.”

Carson uses all the words a focus group would recommend:

“When people are able to see how much more freedom they will have, and how much more flexibility they will have, and how much more choice they would have,” he explained in our interview, “I think it’s going to be a no-brainer.”

When any politician starts telling you how much better you will be with them in control, put your hand on your wallet.

    • FatRat October 24th, 2015 at 20:44

      Amen.
      Or as Emerson said:
The louder he talked of his honor, the faster we counted our spoons.

    • Allison Renée Alworth October 24th, 2015 at 22:18

And he says it’s about freedom – the freedom to go bankrupt from medical bills if medicare doesn’t exist.

      • Hirightnow October 24th, 2015 at 22:32

Makes you wanna burst into a chorus of “God Bless America”, don’t it?

  2. Larry Schmitt October 24th, 2015 at 20:07

“When people are able to see how much more freedom they will have…” Freedom to go broke when they get sick.

  3. Larry Schmitt October 24th, 2015 at 20:08

The only no-brainer I see is you, Carson.

    • KABoink_after_wingnut_hacker October 24th, 2015 at 20:34

      X2

      • Hirightnow October 24th, 2015 at 21:34

Oddly enough, the plot of the film “X2” involves someone of diminished mental capacity being used to control and subjugate group of people….

  4. jybarz October 24th, 2015 at 20:13

He definitely needs to do brain surgery on himself.

  5. Oska Themighty October 24th, 2015 at 20:16

Carson is an ass… I wouldn’t vote for him

  6. robert October 24th, 2015 at 20:24

he would “replace more than just Obamacare with his plan for health savings accounts.

I hate to beat the same drum but here it goes….Replace them with what ?

    • Larry Schmitt October 24th, 2015 at 21:20

He didn’t realize that was part of the deal. Does he have to do all the work for you?

      • robert October 24th, 2015 at 21:22

if ben wants to be president ? Yes he does have to explain what he plans to replace it with

        • Hirightnow October 24th, 2015 at 21:31

What, you have something against jumping into the deep end and winging it?
Why, that’s what made America great!

          • robert October 24th, 2015 at 21:34

maybe that’s why they say ” sink or swim ”

the gop still thinks cinder blocks make the best flippers

            • Hirightnow October 24th, 2015 at 21:39

The trouble with “sink or swim” is, if you stand by and watch it happen without helping, pretty soon you’re going to need a new water supply, or at least a net to fish the body out, instead of catching it before it hits the water’s surface like any decent person would.

              • robert October 24th, 2015 at 21:44

good paragraph for ben to read. Let me know what he says ?

                • Hirightnow October 24th, 2015 at 21:47

If I could have a few minutes of Ben Carson’s time, I’d probably spend it either laughing in his face or giving him looks of pity.

  7. Obewon October 24th, 2015 at 20:24

Carson’16~ dumb as a box of rocks. 61% of Americans think Medicare is currently worth the costs. As many as 78% of Democrats and 57% of Independents say it is worth it, but just 45% of Republicans agree. http://www.cbsnews.com/news/poll-most-americans-say-medicare-is-worth-the-cost/
Still dropping like a rock: Just 23.8% of voters remain GOP. http://elections.huffingtonpost.com/pollster/party-identification

    • cogitoergodavesum October 24th, 2015 at 22:37

I’d go out on a limb and say that 100% of Republican Presidential candidates disagree.

  8. allison1050 October 24th, 2015 at 20:28

Ben Steppin’ Fetchit Carson wouldn’t do jack!

  9. Tommie October 24th, 2015 at 20:37

Hopefully, that should end Carson, a lot of old folks depend on that, the old republicans should be nervous, unless they can afford private insurance!

Googled one quote about “to the maximum”. Wow!

Even if you accept evolutionary theory–developing a more sophisticated organism in this theoretically “logical” fashion, then there should be a continuum of organisms. And why did evolution divert in so many directions–birds, fish, elephants, apes, humans–if there is some force evolving to the maximum? Why isn’t everything a human–a superior human? Darwin specifically stated that his theory hung on the discovery of intermediate forms, and was sure that we would find them. More than a hundred years later we still haven’t found them. Even the earliest fossils don’t show such intermediates.

Take the simple case of ape to human. It should be easy to find abundant fossil remains since, according to evolutionary theory, this is the most recent transition. If we can find so many fossils of dinosaurs, which are further back in the evolutionary scheme, we should have plenty of evidence of intermediates between apes and humans. But we don’t have them.

Carson can be debunked by a cartoon in less than three minutes. lol

Your Youtube link has “lol” at the beginning. When I remove it, the video plays, but like a mirror image. The images are reversed. Weirdest thing I’ve ever seen.

        • Larry Schmitt October 24th, 2015 at 21:14

I finally learned something useful from the Youtube comments: Yeah, some video posters mistakenly believe that if a video is flipped or cropped or sped up or slowed down, etc, that it will somehow magically not be a copyright infringement anymore, or that the copyright holders won’t be able to find it or that Youtube’s supposed “filter” won’t know that it is a copyrighted work, etc.

        • FatRat October 24th, 2015 at 21:16

I think I got the link fixed. Didn’t notice that lol ran into the URL. The uploaders on youtube will alter the video, so it is harder to be taken down. Audio played faster or reversing the image.

anyone who receives Medicare and votes for Carson is an idiot, with apologies to the idiots of the world.

there are about 12million registered voters in Florida.

over 3million receive Medicare benefits. but let us look on the bright side. if Carson is the GOP nominee, I doubt we will have to worry about counting hanging chads as he forfeits 25% of the vote in a key swing state.

    • Hirightnow October 24th, 2015 at 21:15

As a Floridian and part-time idiot, I accept your apology, and raise you $5.00.

      • Larry Schmitt October 24th, 2015 at 21:18

But only a part-time idiot, since you’d never vote for this guy.

        • Hirightnow October 24th, 2015 at 21:21

          Wait…he’s actually RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT?
And here I was, thinking he was just a Pat Paulson knock-off…
Gods, he IS nuts; Paulson was doing it for laughs!

          • Larry Schmitt October 24th, 2015 at 21:22

But Paulson was intentionally funny. This whole campaign reads like an Onion production.

            • Hirightnow October 24th, 2015 at 21:24

Wikipedia has a quote that he used to give to questions about social issues:

“I feel that it is too directly bound to its own anguish to be anything
other than a cry of negation, carrying within itself the seeds of its
own destruction. However, to get to the meat of the matter, I will come right to the point, and take note of the fact that the heart of the issue in the final analysis escapes me.”

STILL makes more sense than 80% of what Mr. Carson says.

              • Larry Schmitt October 24th, 2015 at 21:27

I’m not sure you realize that what you thought you heard is not what I meant.

          • Mainah October 24th, 2015 at 21:46

Yes it is! My kids said I remind them of Nicole Watterson.

            https://secure.static.tumblr.com/87c85ca4024f77391d1b28487a5ef037/xmstuzp/RNLnd51s6/tumblr_static_tumblr_static__640.jpg
            and they were right.

            • Hirightnow October 24th, 2015 at 21:53

I used to think that “kids these days” were going to be a lost cause, because they didn’t have Warner Brothers cartoons to help them with the subtlety and irony and straight-up weirdness life had to offer…
Then the 80s ended, and things got better (Rocko’s Modern Life, Ren and Stimpy…).
Now I see I had nothing to worry about; these little SOBs are going to be more wordly-wise before 10 than I was at 40, thanks in part to some great cartoons that would have given censors network child psychological advisers an embolism.

              • Mainah October 24th, 2015 at 22:02

Oh the people making these cartoons are really understanding that kids are wicked smart. They just remade Alvin and The Chipmunks and they said “it’s about time for a Shyamalan twist.” Even my oldest was like “what the what?”

I’m a cartoon junkie … I’ll admit it Dr. Doofenshmirtz. How’s retirement going now?

                • Hirightnow October 24th, 2015 at 22:17

Well, I though puttering around was going to be, you know, relaxing and all, but I realized that puttering was what I had been doing for my entire life, you see, so, I sort of “retired” from retirement and now I’m kind of concentrating on this new plan I have using a GOP-inator to put people into a hypnotic trance by repeating baseless lies and innuendo over and over again until they’re all mindless zombies ready to do my will, at which point I will RULE THE TRI-STATE AREA and…
W-would you excuse me? There seems to be someone knocking on
my door, even though I can’t actually see anyone through the peep-hole..funny,I don’t recall knowing anyone short enoughnot to be seen through a peephole, unless it’s…no, he usually shows up AFTER I build…..

              • whatthe46 October 24th, 2015 at 22:16

“…network child psychological advisers an embolism back in the day.” that’s so hilarious!

                • Hirightnow October 24th, 2015 at 22:24

It gives me great joy to know that those precious little minds they were trying to nurture though their formative years are today giving us some of the most warped, skewed, and otherwise insane (albeit intelligent) animated shows.
Is that a whirring sound I hear from the “child-psychiatrist” section of Oak Lawn cemetery?

          • Mainah October 24th, 2015 at 22:28

I know, right? As if your everyday, ordinary citizen is going to A. Have that particular book right handy B. Be calm enough to use it C. Have the proper items to perform such a procedure while having the heart attack … Lord forbid, say out away from your home, while walking through the part, while walking down the road … etc.

He needs more than haldol. I’m thinking a huggy jacket in a super comfy wall to wall to ceiling to door padded room. Preferably soundproofed.

            • whatthe46 October 24th, 2015 at 22:34

i agree with everything except the “padded room.” it should be concrete with sharp and rigged stones of all sizes imbedded into it. let the fool run into for all i care. and a first aid kit with everything needed to attend to his cuts only it’s under padlock. and since he’ll be in a straight jacket and can’t get to it, all the better. the bastard. record it as well, i could do for a great laugh at his expense. yes, i don’t like this pos at all!

    I find that disturbingly self-referential.

  15. labman57 October 25th, 2015 at 01:57

Spin 101: Numerous polls have demonstrated conclusively that the vast majority of the American people are against privatizing Medicare. Which, of course, means that there is a minority that support this policy.
So how does Carson and his fellow tea-chugging conservatives spin it?
“Americans fully support our plans to phase out the current Medicare system … and even if they say they don’t, they really do … they just don’t realize it”.

Dr. Ben has fallen into an old trap — he has begun to believe his own reality-devoid rhetoric.
