U.S. Airstrike On Afghanistan Hospital Being Investigated

The airstrike killed 9 staffers and 7 patients at a Doctors Without Borders hospital.

The United States still is trying to determine what caused Saturday’s destruction and deaths at the Doctors Without Borders hospital in the northern Afghan city of Kunduz, U.S. Defense Secretary Ash Carter said.

“While we are still trying to determine exactly what happened, I want to extend my thoughts and prayers to everyone affected. A full investigation into the tragic incident is underway in coordination with the Afghan government,” Carter said…

Three of those patients were children. The circumstances weren’t immediately clear, but the U.S. military conducted an airstrike in Kunduz at the time, and the incident is being investigated, U.S. Army Col. Brian Tibus said.

Specifically, the military is investigating whether a U.S. AC-130 gunship — which was in the area firing on Taliban positions to defend U.S. special operations troops there — is responsible, a U.S. military official said on condition of anonymity.

The attacks, which injured at least 37 other people and left part of the hospital in flames and rubble, came on roughly the sixth day of fighting between Afghan government forces — supported by U.S. airpower and military advisers — and the Taliban, which invaded the city early this week.

    What a horrible thing to happen, this is what war does. Death, destruction and trillions of dollars lost because of machismo and fear. Think of all the good war dollars could do for this country and others. Sigh, will we ever learn that war is not a game.

    For some reason i don’t feel my freedom or security has been protected at all, in fact i’m not sure it was even under threat in the first place. The bombings have to stop, the war has to end.

      I have been earning upto $5000 to $8000 each month since LastAugust by working online on my laptop for 5 to 8 hours daily. previously I thought the job will be tough but contrast to opinion it was too easy sometime I myself wonder how easy the job is for such a big money if You too are interested then Visit…

    We should get out the asap. The money being spent for these wars, can be better used in this country.
