Fiorina Defends Torture

Carly Fiorina is defending waterboarding and other forms of torture that she believes w need to keep us safe.

Positioning herself as a steely advocate of aggressive counterterrorism programs, Republican presidential candidate Carly Fiorina offered a vigorous defense of CIA waterboarding as a tactic that helped “keep our nation safe” in the aftermath of 9/11.

“I believe that all of the evidence is very clear — that waterboarding was used in a very small handful of cases [and] was supervised by medical personnel in every one of those cases,” Fiorina told Yahoo News. “And I also believe that waterboarding was used when there was no other way to get information that was necessary.”

A Senate report last year portrayed waterboarding as “near drownings” that were tantamount to torture and concluded that the agency’s often brutal interrogations produced little actionable intelligence. But Fiorina rejected those conclusions, calling the report “disingenuous” and “a shame” that “undermined the morale of a whole lot of people who dedicated their lives to keeping the country safe.”

Fiorina’s remarks drew an immediate rebuke from Naureen Shah, director of the security and human rights program at Amnesty International USA, which last week filed a complaint with the Justice Department requesting an investigation into why prosecutors have not reopened a criminal probe of those responsible for waterboarding and other abusive practices — such as “rectal feeding” and rectal searches — based on new details documented in the Senate report.

“It’s outrageous for anybody to claim that torture was limited or that this is the way the U.S. should have conducted business after 9/11,” said Shah about Fiorina’s comments to Yahoo News. “This is completely rewriting the history of what happened.”

Medical personell, oh you mean the psychos who said anal force feeding is humane and necessary as well as a host of other torture techniques that the nuremburg trials said were illegal, torture and worthy of prison.

If you ever had my wife’s cooking you may well change your mind about anal feeding

      • tracey marie September 28th, 2015 at 17:29

        okay, that was funny.

        • whatthe46 September 28th, 2015 at 20:43

not when his wife finds out.

    • bpollen September 30th, 2015 at 04:49

The only people who think being force-fed anally have never BEEN force-fed anally. You might find that DrPills wife’s cooking isn’t quite as bad as advertised.

First of all, I question the validity of her statement that waterboarding was effective in keeping us safe. But even if the statement is 100% true, is effectiveness the only consideration?

If we have identified an individual as a likely source of critical information, would it not also be effective to demand that he tell us what we want to know or we will kidnap and execute his 3 year old daughter or his elderly grandparents? Or maybe we will go full Old Testament and execute all children 5 years old or younger in his village. I mean if effectiveness is all we need to concern ourselves with, what would be the problem?

I don’t think an amoral person can ever understand a moral arguement. This is a person who laid off 30K employees in one fell swoop.

What have we become? I can’t seem to remember but who said “the great satan?” Who were they talking about?

How is creating more enemies making us safer?

    • Roctuna September 29th, 2015 at 19:12

The final logic of their torture policy is that we have to kill them all. That equals endless war and endless profit. Nothing to do with safety.

Carly must be envious of Cheney’s anal rehydration technique, because ‘No Actionable Intelligence was learned by ILLEGAL Waterboarding Torture’-U.S. Senate & CIA Confirmed: WASHINGTON (AP) — A U.S. Senate investigation concludes waterboarding and other harsh interrogation methods provided no key evidence in the hunt for bin Laden. http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2014/03/31/senate-report-cia-torture/7140143/

Those who are formally trained in interrogation techniques consistently agree that the so-called “enhanced” methods that were commonly employed by the CIA during the Bush/Cheney years were totally inappropriate and tactically inane.

These techniques are commonly used by foreign extremist groups and dictatorial regimes that are trying to get prisoners to confess to crimes that the interrogators know were not committed, i.e., they are not interested in obtaining information, their goal is the confession itself.

In other words, water-boarding is an excellent interrogation technique if your goal is:
    a) a false confession
    b) retribution
But if your primary objective to obtain useful intelligence, it’s going to be counterproductive.

Fiorina tortures everybody that listens to her and if she was waterboarded she’d just melt like the wicked witch of the west with those damned winged Oz monkeys flying out of her butt.

Boy, nothing more welcome than chickenhawk failures giving advice about how to conduct war. Like with the “I’m not a scientist” shtick, the “I’m not a soldier, but I don’t hesitate to explain to the qualified professionals how they should do their job.” I feel I also have to point out, she is not a politician, but doesn’t hesitate to claim expertise. She also is a miserable failure as a CEO, but doesn’t hesitate to tell you that she is an expert at that too.

Seems almost a prototypical female Republican candidate for Prez — doesn’t know diddly and sociopathic lying comes naturally.
