Far Right-Wing Republicans Set Sights On McConnell

Now that John Boehner is out, far-right Republicans may continue their takeover attempt by going after Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.

(AP Photo/J. Scott Applewhite)

…Boehner’s move seemed only to embolden the hardliners. Several on Capitol Hill and off suggested that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., would be their next target, and the group Tea Party Patriots began circulating a petition calling for his removal.

McConnell had pledged that the GOP Congress would show voters that Republicans can govern in the runup to the 2016 elections. But conservatives complain that the GOP takeover of the Senate this year has not yielded results, and now a House run by less-proven leaders may test McConnell’s promise once more.

“Mitch McConnell is infinitely worse as a leader than Boehner. He surrenders at the sight of battle every time,” said Rep. Matt Salmon, R-Ariz., one of the rebels. “We made a lot of promises to the American people that if we took the Senate that we would do certain things and those things have not been accomplished.”

” those things have not been accomplished.”

Those things! Try NOTHING. That is exactly what Mitch and the rest of the reslugs are worth! Nothing. Go away.

  2. Larry Schmitt September 26th, 2015 at 20:13

Was one of those promises to the American people to f*ck things up as much as possible? Because that seems to be your target.

  3. KABoink_after_wingnut_hacker September 26th, 2015 at 20:22

Ideologues and the wingnut lunatic fringe have taken over the republican party and they aren’t interested in governing our nation at all.
This could be a very destructive time for America or it could be a great opportunity as we watch a once great political party implode under the weight of all the hate-filled bigots, misogynists, corporate shills, racists, religious freaks and dirt-ignorant fools they’ve courted and recruited for the last 6 decades.

The Why is, the allied forces defeated Germany in WW II. The German government, military, industry, and people were defeated BUT, the NAZI Party just went underground and started their retaliation against ALL Allied Nations.

        Serpent’s walk?

        • The Original Just Me October 4th, 2015 at 18:21

I have never heard of this before now. I did Google Serpent’s Walk. Amazing, I have only read a couple of reviews but this sounds dead on except the time line is 70 years instead of a century. My answer to you is; BINGO, DEAD ON ACCURATE !

    • Robert Smithson September 27th, 2015 at 08:00

Because we have seen where the Democrat left has taken us. We are not respected around the world and are now almost 19 trillion dollars in debt, and the Constitution is routinely ignored.

      • Chris September 27th, 2015 at 08:31

You do realize that you are agreeing that the Republicans are trashing the US with your response, right? You don’t read carefully.

And you do realize that two of your three reasons are standard, unverifiable Republican boilerplate bs, right? Right?

      • Budda September 27th, 2015 at 08:47

We are better respected around the world now than under the Cheney administration; that debt thing you are so worried about was mostly created by Republicans (wars cost money with no return), your interpretation of the Constitution is not what counts.

Stop using logic and facts, it’ll cause a tiny tiny popping sound soon.

So you’re saying an America that’s adequately fed, paid, insured, educated, informed, safe, able to fully excersize the right to vote, sustainably using it’s resources and confident in it’s abilities would be a bad thing? Why?

      • Robert Kennedy September 27th, 2015 at 16:05

That’s just stupid. Polls around the world have shown that over 170 nations now respect us compared to 6 who did when Bush was president. Is there and chance that you will ever be right about anything? So far your record would seem to say no.

Which Constitutional amendments are routinely ignored?

      • SecludedCompound October 2nd, 2015 at 13:07

What? Ya didn’t get the fascist Tea-Party memo?
They will not stop until anything that is not a full blown Nationalist/Nativist/xenophobe fascist far right wing candidate is elected…
Do we have to relive the 1930’s-40’s again to realize theses people are sick and delusional?
Do we have to relieve history again to realize it was f-up the first time theses extremist forced themselves upon us?

They’re going to turn everyone into Liberals just as Scientologists see sane people as “suppressive people”

Liberals are their enemy, Fox News,Drudge Report, Brietbart and Newsbusters told them so.

    • Robert Kennedy September 27th, 2015 at 16:01

The reason for all this foofaraw is that Republicans don’t learn history or just ignore it and so are working for defeat again. If it were only the Republicans that suffered it would be a positive thing, but they drag the rest of us down with them.

  18. Robert Smithson September 27th, 2015 at 07:56

The Republicans are quite a difference from the Democrats who are all on the same page – the extreme left.

  19. lynchie September 27th, 2015 at 08:50

I love how the GOP was creaming themselves after the TeaParty started attacking the Dems, going to their Town Halls and screaming for their rights. Now the worm has turned and the party realized it ain’t a worm it is a god damn anaconda. I am happy to see all the sad old bags of puss get tossed out like dirty diapers. The new breed have no clue how to govern, how to run a government, how to negotiate with other countries on trade, how to deal with terrorist threats, how to represent their constituents, how to provide the services the people in the u.s. want. They know hate, jesus 24/7, bigotry, racism and we as a country very well may be going to the mattresses as they said in the godfather.

    • olcurmudgeon September 27th, 2015 at 10:57

“I love how the GOP was creaming themselves after the Tea Party started attacking the Dems”
The Tea Party was created by the GOP and Fox News and the leadership given to Glenn Beck and Americans for Prosperity. The stole the name from a small Libertarian group that supported Ron Paul.

They tried to include Dems in the beginning claiming that the Tea Party is just as much angry Dems as Republicans.

Their cult is turning on the leadership.I’m glad to see they will help destroy themselves .

      • mangum1 September 27th, 2015 at 13:57

Glenn Beck is a Mormon like Matt Salmon

  20. Equinsu Ocha September 27th, 2015 at 10:54

I’d hate to have to pick between parties. All either wants to do is tell how the other is wrong and stupid and the reason for our problems. Doesnt that get old? Can you write anything else? Can you make an attempt at comprise? All I ever read from either side is whats bad in the world and how it’s”the other guys” fault. Theres absolutely no personal responsibility anymore. Theres always a justified reason for you to be a f-up nowadays.

    • Obewon September 27th, 2015 at 12:30

You missed the point: Republicans are cannibalizing their own party, purging anybody who isn’t a constitutionally illiterate GOP anarchist, insisting on a government shutdown, violating the 14th Amendment, etc.

      • Equinsu Ocha September 27th, 2015 at 13:16

Believe me, I didn’t miss the point. Your boy above proved my point.
I voice displeasure over an issue. Displeasure is then misconstrued as an attack. I am then insulted for my lack of knowledge on commenters imagined interpretation of my comment…further alienating me from this particular commenters’ political affiliation after which I am again insulted implied as uneducated.
Now tell me why I want to help to fight for YOUR cause?!
You may have replied with thought, but dillweed above just proves that he’s here for an argument, not open dialogue.

        • mangum1 September 27th, 2015 at 13:56

“boy” amazing how you use that term for a black man, go fck yourself.

        • stormkite September 27th, 2015 at 18:22

Seems unlikely you’d have wanted to in any case, any more than I’d consider supporting your boys….

But you do have something of a point – campaigns are rarely reflective of anything except what the marketing genii behind them consider most likely to get their critter into office. They’re not generally useful for purposes of figuring out which candidate will be the best office-holder. It’s one of the problems in our system.

News magazines love the opportunity to put an attractive celebrity on the cover – it sells more magazines. Talking about significant issues in the sales pitch causes people to change channels or put the magazine back. Campaigns go negative early and hard because history shows that it works as a tactic, and the point of campaigning is to get elected. Another problem with picking leaders by popularity.

The only problem is that there isn’t really any better or fairer way to DO it.

        • Cave quid dicis September 28th, 2015 at 10:03

            That’s hilarious.

    • arc99 September 27th, 2015 at 12:43

Personally I am pretty sick of this BS about there being no difference between the parties.

The essence of a political party consists of the base that supports it.

Go take a look at Anomaly’s story about George Zimmerman and the supportive tweets he is getting for reposting a photo of Trayvon Martin’s dead body. Then come back and apologize to the regulars in this forum for the nonsensical bullsh*t that both parties are the same.

After you are done squaring things with this forum, please review the current roster of Supreme Court Justices, noting the party of the President who selected each justice. Then after all that, if you still honestly believe that there is no difference between the parties, I do have a bridge that I have been looking to sell. I will give you a great price and I accept PayPal.

      • Equinsu Ocha September 27th, 2015 at 12:55

Who said they were the same thing? I’m sick of the blame game which is an action, not a characteristic or trait. Seems like you’re a little itchy on the trigger. Square yourself bro.

        Kick rocks. Theres your apology.

        • arc99 September 27th, 2015 at 13:21

Your convenient rationalization is in my opinion, completely unconvincing. You said this

“”All either wants to do is tell how the other is wrong and stupid and the reason for our problems.”

Now you create some artficial distinction between trait and action.

A quote attributed to Aristotle says, “You are what you do”.

If you want to explain how the observable actions of a person do not in any way portray the traits of that person, have at it…

        • tracey marie September 27th, 2015 at 16:35

          • Equinsu Ocha September 27th, 2015 at 18:29

Wrong. It’s very important however the attitude of attacks on here and sites of opposition are the very reason for gridlock. It’s always someone else’s fault. It’s always the other guy….

“It’s always someone else’s fault. It’s always the other guy….”

and history proves it IS Republicans fault. Trickle down –worked well didnt it?, interfering in personal lives through women’s health care and gay marriage –which also btw, is the GOP trying to use govt to force everyone to adhere to their religious beliefs –a flagrant violation of the 1st amendment

They spent the last 20 years blatantly lying (and on nearly every issue within the last 15 years) in lock step and with the help of the corporate media.
They protect anyone with an ‘R’ next to their name regardless of their supposed principles.

Where have you been since 1988 and Buchanan’s “culture War ” speech?

there is always gridlock when the corrupt are exposed –they love it because people like you start blaming both sides

now –go compare the GOPs oh-so-awesome policies are concerned compared to the Dems when they had control, 111th congress as well as the Dems in previous two admins. that tried to get ppl to understand we had been lied into war only to be shut down by the MSM and blamed by the GOP labeled as unpatriotic –and then unsupported by American voters as proven by Kerry’s defeat in 2004.

you dont care about details and history or you would already realize its NOT both sides.

              • Equinsu Ocha September 28th, 2015 at 14:00

Awesome. I’m sorry my frustration at the political process is somehow offending you. Perhaps that’s fake offence, clearly you’re just a troll.

Dems have actual proposals , republicans have smear campaigns because their platform fell flat on its face in 2008

There is a difference though, Republicans are, in fact, always wrong and Democrats are usually right. There is no equivalence.
