Huckabee: America Won’t Survive Gay Marriage

Posted by | September 26, 2015 15:00 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics Religion

Welp, I guess the country is over now.

Earlier this month, Mike Huckabee spoke to Trinity Baptist Church’s “ Calling America Back to God Rally” in Van Wyck, South Carolina. Huckabee criticized the Supreme Court’s marriage equality ruling as illegitimate, saying that the court “cannot overturn God when it comes to the definition of what marriage is.” “They can no more redefine the purpose of marriage then they can redefine the laws of gravity and say that we can all go floating everywhere we go and don’t need to take cars anymore,” he quipped…

“We cannot possibly survive if we defy any standard that God has given to us,” he said, before calling for a “spiritual revival” that will cause God to “give us the political reformation that we need.”

If god created marriage and defined it, how do you explain atheists and believers of other religions getting married? Simple. Marriage was created by people, and they can define it any damn way they please. God has nothing to do with it.

shhh. you’ll give them a headache trying to understand logic.

      • majii September 26th, 2015 at 19:06

It would be nice if those headaches they’d experience could knock some sense into them. I’m worn out from witnessing their nonsense. I’m a Christian, and I don’t understand why they’re so filled with fear because the Bible teaches that fear is not of God. That they claim to be Christians and fear everything tells me that they have some real doubt about whether the God they worships can really protect them.

        • Red Mann September 26th, 2015 at 19:57

I’m a recovered Christian and what people like Huck, Perkins, Fischer et al practice is a perversion of Christianity and is driven by their overwhelming fear, fear of, well, everything, change, The Other, things that go bump in the night. They are like frightened little children crying out for their daddy to come and save them from their imaginary boogey men.

Similar idiotic sentiments were expressed by social conservatives when the judicial decisions of the SCOTUS in the 1950’s and the legislation passed by Congress in the 60’s strove to provide civil equality to African Americans in every state of the nation.

I think the Huckster is trying to convey a hidden message to us.
“spiritual revival” anagram is “I lie survival part”.

These hypocrite ‘conservatives’ suffered another defeat a couple days ago when the New York City Council approved no school for ALL students on a few critically significant Muslim Holidays.

The same folks that cheered when 4-times married #1 hypocrite Kim Davis got to remove her name from the gay marriage certifs are now having a major spasm over ‘creeping Sharia Law’ in the nations largest city. This is what they wanted, no? Religious Freedom? lol they just screwed themselves, Muslim Holidays will make their way to Arkansas, Arizona, Texas, Alabama, and every other rightwing state. They’re gonna have to defend it or their ‘religious freedom’ argument falls apart.

    • Larry Schmitt September 26th, 2015 at 16:53

No they want “religious freedom” only for “christians” because this is a “christian nation.” How many times do we have to say it?

      • LoisB September 26th, 2015 at 17:04

…and a specific kind of “christian nation”; White, evangelical, Southern Baptist.

        • Roctuna September 26th, 2015 at 17:12

Even Pope Frank knows the problem “[W]e must be especially attentive to every type of fundamentalism,” he said, “whether religious or any other kind.” He went on to warn against the dividing of people into camps of “the righteous” and “the sinners.” The current talibaggers running for President are all about fundamentalism and shallow thinking.

  5. LoisB September 26th, 2015 at 17:03

We’ve managed to survive in the U.S. with you here, Huck, so I am 100% sure we won’t be taken down by same-sex marriage. If we are destroyed, it will be because of the hatred spewed by you and your kind toward everyone who does not fit your view of what “Americans” should look like, should worship, should love, should marry so why don’t you go in your closet and pray to your god to forgive you. Maybe if he/she does, you can join the rest of humanity.

Does Huckabee know gluttony is a sin?

    • Roctuna September 26th, 2015 at 17:23

He’s still a shadow of his former gynormous self. He was quite a sinner then, and now.

      • bpollen September 26th, 2015 at 21:45

You think his weight loss plan was the Hypocrisy diet?

      • Mike September 27th, 2015 at 00:48

Proverbs 23:2 proclaims, “Put a knife to your throat if you are given to gluttony.”

If he were a real christian fundy he would have offed himself like he was supposed to years ago.

  7. Tommie September 26th, 2015 at 20:01

I wish i can get a hold of him and bet him that we would survive!

  8. amersham46 September 26th, 2015 at 21:01

America is struggling to survive Mike Huckebee

  9. Jack E Raynbeau September 26th, 2015 at 21:31

Present this God, Huckabee, then well talk.

    • granpa.usthai September 27th, 2015 at 00:47

oh you of such little faith.
just a week or so ago Huckie identified God as being like Kim Davis.
an overweight crossdresser that’s really stuck on himself.
next time, open your ears that ye might hear, but it’s OK to close your eyes ’cause it’s said a man cannot look upon God and live.
(sorta like Medusa -except I don’t think Kim need worry about being raped in a temple and P-ing off Pelee).

      • lynchie September 27th, 2015 at 09:01

        Kim pisses off the pope

  10. bpollen September 26th, 2015 at 21:43

You really can’t use as your source a totally undocumented assertion that an unproven deity has made ANY determination of any interpersonal relationship, in order to legally counter a Supreme Court decision. Witnesses, even expert witnesses, must be available for cross-examination by the opposing side.

    • lynchie September 27th, 2015 at 09:00

sorry god went on vaca to cancun. I am afraid he had some cabana boys over more drink, drinks

  11. liberalMD September 26th, 2015 at 22:15

He may be right. But southern Baptist preachers also said that America would not survive the abolition of slavery. So we may be in for a very long life after all.

    • granpa.usthai September 27th, 2015 at 00:38

that was before they made tax free holy investments in textile manufacturing facilities with tax free profits.

  12. granpa.usthai September 27th, 2015 at 00:36

America, a foreign land that Jesus never even came to cannot survive if two people want to commit to each other, while Israel (the land where Jesus trod) can?
    WTF Huckie?
I just happen to think it’s the MIXED FIBERS thingie. I mean, God wiped out Sodom, Gomorrah and the other cities of the plains ’cause they was greedy little F’s that pranced around haughty in God’s face daring him to take their MIXED FIBER clothes off – and that was nigh on 1,000 years before any laws was written.
Yep. as one who fully qualifies per biblical standards to be a PROPHET OF GOD (sunrise in east, sunset in west) I’m purt near sure America’s end will come ’cause these churchgoers is hell bent bound and determined to wear MIXED FIBERS in front of God no matter what God’s laws says about it.

  13. jybarz September 27th, 2015 at 01:51

Fckabee is getting more a religious fanatic.
He’s no different to the Talibans.
It’s their religious beliefs or the highway.

    • whatthe46 September 27th, 2015 at 01:54

and that’s why he’s cheering for kim the bitch.

  14. William September 27th, 2015 at 02:13

His base is getting smaller and smaller.

  15. fahvel September 27th, 2015 at 03:59

is there any joy in the lives of people like this piece of detritus? He must peek around every corner checking whether his god is watching him play pocket pool.

    • lynchie September 27th, 2015 at 08:54

He knows there is no god. That is an act for the mouth breathers. He goes home watches kiddy porn with Josh, helps his son hook up the battery to the family dog and gets his girlfriend to the abortion clinic.

  16. Chris September 27th, 2015 at 08:38

    Memo to Huck:
We’ve had gay marriage for over six years here in Iowa.
You know this from your many travels to our great state.
NOTHING has happened to society here in six years, has it?
Heterosexuals continue to marry, separate, and divorce as they always have.
Heck, this is even more verifiable than climate change which you continue to deny.

And, oh, by the way, you still don’t stand a chance of being president. Again.

    • rg9rts September 28th, 2015 at 06:02

Ernst and King… LOL…..Grassley for good measure

  17. lynchie September 27th, 2015 at 08:51

We will survive fine if we can just get rid of you.

  18. allison1050 September 27th, 2015 at 09:33

I wonder when he’s gonna pack up the little woman and his overgrown boyz and move?

  19. AmethystTear September 27th, 2015 at 11:48

I have no problem with religious convictions. I’m Christian myself. The fact is not allowing gay marriage was very much against the constitution and also very much against religious freedom. There are several religious denominations that were okay with doing LGBT marriages and saying it can’t be done was also trampling their religious freedom. Huckabee is a massive hypocrite and also assumes that his Christianity is the only Christianity along with the bigotry he demonstrates to all the other religions. To me, someone who is so unclear about separation of Church and state and the pursuit of happiness should never be president.

  20. Laura Freedlund September 27th, 2015 at 15:43

So they “cannot overturn God when it comes to the definition of what marriage is.” – Why not, Huck? You and your sect of false Christians have overturned EVERYTHING your God commanded you to do in order to focus on the perceived sins of everyone but yourselves. You’ve completely redefined Christianity to mean hatred of the human race, stinginess and greed, murderous contempt for those your God has placed in authority over you, division, oppression of anyone not exactly like you…basically everything your Lord preached against. You’re an antichrist, and your hate speech and hypocrisy is getting real old. You have no ideas, no vision, no heart. Enjoy burning in hell, Huck.
