Bill Blames Republicans And News Media

Posted by | September 26, 2015 22:00 | Filed under: Politics

President Clinton blames Republicans and the political news media for too much focus on Hillary Clinton’s email woes.

“I have never seen so much expended on so little,” Mr. Clinton said in a taped interview with CNN’s Fareed Zakaria that will be shown on Sunday. The network released excerpts on Saturday afternoon.

“She said she was sorry that her personal email caused all this confusion. And she’d like to give the election back to the American people,” Mr. Clinton said. “I think it will be all right. But it’s obvious what happened.”

Mr. Clinton likened the current inquiries into Mrs. Clinton’s emails to scandals as far back as the Whitewater land deal that plagued his 1992 campaign and the early years of his administration.

“This is just something that has been a regular feature of all of our presidential campaigns, except in 2008 for unique reasons,” Mr. Clinton said, without elaborating on why he believed President Obama did not face similar Republican-led efforts to derail his candidacy.

“It always happens,” he added. “We’re seeing history repeat itself.”

“The other party doesn’t want to run against her. And if they do, they’d like her as mangled up as possible,” Mr. Clinton said. “And they know that if they leak things and say things, that that is catnip to the people who get bored talking about what’s your position on student loan relief or dealing with the shortage of mental health care, or what to do with the epidemic of prescription drugs and heroin out in America.”

Mr. Clinton also faulted the political press corps, which he said was determined to see a competitive contest. At the beginning of the year, he noted, Mrs. Clinton “was the most admired person in public life.”

“What happened?” he added. “The presidential campaign happened. And the nature of the coverage shifted from issue-based to political.”

Wow, it’s a guy standing by a roped off area. What next!

      • whatthe46 September 27th, 2015 at 16:06

a guy standing behind a rope is so awful Ms. A. why don’t you people understand that? waaaa waaaa. good grief.

      • stormkite September 27th, 2015 at 16:47

It’s a guy with a camera being kept six or eight feet away from a politician walking down the road. It seems the politicos want to be visible and able to walk without being smothered by guys with cameras, and the only way for that to happen is to barricade the press guys, who can’t stay back on their own. (They really can’t unless they want to be unemployed; there’s always someone jumping in front of them to get a closer shot… and then another guy jumping in front of THAT guy, and another guy…. if you stay back, to be polite, you get nothing but the backs of other people’s heads, and the people who came to see the candidate get to see the photographers’ and reporters’ asses and nothing else. )

          That’s just horrible:-)

          • whatthe46 September 27th, 2015 at 16:59

            laughing.

          • stormkite September 27th, 2015 at 17:21

Yup. He can’t POSSIBLY do his job from that great distance, and really, it’s not like the public has any rights anyway – they should all be at home watching the ads on teevee anyhow. (Aside from the republicrap we’re hearing now about “abuse of the press,” the only real problem with the moving ropes is that the rightwingers will try to use them to trip the non-faux people, just because they’re that kind of micropenis asholes.)

      Touché.

But Hillary doesn’t come close to egregiously hating the press like your current frontrunner as evidenced by yesterday’s performance:

If Hillary said crap like this, you’d be one hundred times more outraged.

Bush and trump do the same thing, do you have a point?

Controversy, regardless whether it’s true or false, is media’s daily bread.
It’s buttered left or right… it still feeds the public no matter.

…and did it derail Bill’s campaign?

    • robert September 27th, 2015 at 05:40

it would be unconstitutional for bill to get the vp spot and besides hillary is a public figure. if you don’t want the press ? don’t run for office

      • Red Mann September 27th, 2015 at 15:51

Well, Robert, press is one thing, a deliberate campaign of distortions and blatant lies is another. The right has been using this technique for a long time now, appealing to the lowest instincts of their base. This is necessary for them since they have nothing positive to run on.

        • whatthe46 September 27th, 2015 at 16:04

          exactly.

        • robert September 27th, 2015 at 17:03

i know that, i was responding to the op since it will be impossible for bill to play a roll if hillary is elected.

      • Robert Kennedy September 28th, 2015 at 14:31

He could be Veep, but if she were to die the presidency would fall to the Secretary of state. But I want Bernie to drub her.

        • robert September 28th, 2015 at 21:01

if bill lived in another state ? that might be possible, I completely agree that bernie is the best option

  4. allison1050 September 27th, 2015 at 04:58

Well Bill, I’m sick of hearing and reading about the no nothing emails myself. But it’s easier to discuss nothing by the media rather than issues that are of concern to the people.

    • rg9rts September 27th, 2015 at 06:34

Anyone heard any plan by the gopee for their vision for the future…oh yes…kill ACA and go to war

      • allison1050 September 27th, 2015 at 07:41

That would be # what now 55 or 56?

        • rg9rts September 27th, 2015 at 07:56

          I lost count

          • allison1050 September 27th, 2015 at 09:41

I think most people have. If I could have just a tiny bit of the money they wasted I’d be set for life with change left over!

The press admitted that there is a conscious campaign by them against her…the objective being to get her to make a Jeb or Mittwitt style gaff…I’m surprised that the gopee has time to concentrate on her….seeing how much they enjoy calling out each other

Bubba Clinton trolls the right wing hard again, and he wins! They NEVER got over the fact that they thought they finally had Bubba Clinton on the ropes with the impeachment, only to FAIL miserably when the REPUBLICAN Senate acquitted him, so they have to preemptively impeach his wife, which is PATHETIC!

  7. Budda September 27th, 2015 at 08:39

He is correct about the press/media. I blame them for a lot myself.

  8. Chris September 27th, 2015 at 13:07

I agree with President Obama: Bill Clinton should be named the Secretary of Explaining Stuff.

I don’t think that HRC’s slide in the polls has much to do with her use of a non-government, private email account/server to avoid FOIA, but everything to do with her running a top-down, entrenched insider campaign tailor-made for the DLC-era 1990’s, complete with triangulation galore, at a time when us little folk have had quite enough of the supply-side-lite scam of DLC/TurdWay/”New” Dems’ NeoFeudalism.
