Buchanan: Davis Defiance Like When I Urged Nixon To Fight Integration

Posted by | September 24, 2015 13:00 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics

Pat Buchanan likens Kim Davis’s defiance of a court order to his advice to Richard Nixon to defy a court order on desegregation.

“When I was in the Nixon White House, I urged the president to defy court orders mandating court-ordered busing from counties into cities, which were tearing apart cities and towns,” Buchanan said. “(I told Nixon to) defy the court and work with the Congress of the United States to really circumscribe the jurisdiction of the court under Article III, Section II of the Constitution.”

“In other words, it would be a constitutional confrontation, you’re exactly right,” he continued. “I don’t disagree with that, if you believe your position is correct.”

He’s still alive? I thought he had wasted away in some home years ago.

Buchanan must be jolly given that his fellow travelers in the GOP no longer feel compelled to murmur their hatred of blacks and now gays. Heck, they shout it from the rooftops now.

He’s right. Davis’ defiance is like urging Nixon to fight integration. Wrong side of history, and both cases depend on the belief that faith gives you the right to violate others’ rights.

The problem is that when you’re a moron believing your position is correct is proof that it isn’t.
