Republicans May Regret Hosting Pope

Republicans may look back and not be happy after the Pope addresses Congress at their invitation.

When House Speaker John Boehner extended the invitation, he said Francis’ teachings “have prompted careful reflection and vigorous dialogue among people of all ideologies and religious views.” He may not have appreciated just how radical the Pope’s teachings are.

In a sharp departure from his predecessors in the Vatican, Francis’ statements on such issues as climate change, divorce, homosexuality, and abortion have rankled conservatives around the world. The pushback on some of his more progressive interpretations of Catholic teachings has also angered many Catholics, triggering what the Washington Post described as a “conservative rebellion” within the church.

It will be kind of hard for them to sit on their hands. They will have their hands covering their ears while sticking out their tongues and crossing their eyes.

I’m sure the GOP will be shamed and disappointed.
Not in an insulting way, the Pope will likely say truly Christian values that are very different to the GOP and the right wing Christians.

The R.W. hates him for being what they know they’ll never be…a true Christian,

  4. amersham46 September 18th, 2015 at 00:10

GOP will accuse him of being a socialist while most Christians endorse his openness and frankness on many topics

If that is a snide reference to Netanyahu I want to say I honor both the pope and Netanyahu. Both are men of great integrity who are following their convictions. Netanyahu handled his end of the deal controversy maladroitly, I agree, but I also agree with his position. Netanyahu is trying every way he can to prevent a second holocaust. Do you condemn him for that? Or maybe that wouldn’t be so bad in your opinion….and the opinion of some of the other leftist pseudo-liberals who often post on this site? Both the Pope and Netanyahu want peace but nobody is daily threatening to wipe the Vatican off the face of the earth.

If you are in the clergy and you are pissing off boner, that means you are preaching the correct version of the Bible.

Castro said this in 1973. He was being sarcastic.
