O’Malley: You Should Be 21 To Own A Gun

Posted by | September 14, 2015 10:00 | Filed under: Politics

Martin O’Malley would like to make it illegal to own a gun unless you’re at least 21 years old.

Under O’Malley’s plan, set to be announced Monday, buying or possessing handguns or handgun ammunition under the age of 21 would be illegal. Current federal law bans the sale of handguns to anyone under 21 and, in most cases, possession of handguns and handgun ammunition under the age of 18.

In a fact sheet detailing O’Malley’s gun violence prevention plan, his campaign says banning handgun possession by Americans aged 18 to 21 would reduce shooting deaths and suicides.

“A full quarter of gun crimes are committed by individuals 21 years old and younger, based on data from 13 states; and guns are used in 38% of suicides among young people,” the fact sheet reads, citing data from the pro-gun control Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence. “O’Malley will work to set a federal minimum age of 21 for handgun ownership and possession.”

Aparrently Marty is under the impression that gang bangers like Tyrone Harris, (AKA Ty Glocks) acquired his guns legally

I see how your opinion of gun ownership changes when the skin color is different. No surprise there huh? You racist coward. Being a racist is easy when you do it as a nameless faceless troll from the safety of your keyboard, isn’t it?

      • whatthe46 September 14th, 2015 at 14:56

        exactly.

      • Red Eye Robot September 14th, 2015 at 15:05

I could care what color Tyrone Harris is, the fact is he is 19, and was out on bail for car theft and possession of a stolen handgun when he SHOT AT POLICE in Ferguson. Is the problem. Tyrone did not obtain any of his handguns, (That he posed with in many pictures on Facebook), Legally. There is no provision in any law that allows for people under 21 to legally purchase a handgun. There is no provision in any law that allows someone under 21 to carry a handgun concealed even if by some provision of the law they were in legally entitled to own a handgun.

O’Malley is playing ignorant dupes like yourself like a $2 violin. He is telling you he wants to make something illegal which is ALREADY ILLEGAL. Tyrone Harris already violated the law Marty wants to pass. In addition to attempted murder of a police officer. On the federal level, he can be charged with illegal possession of a gun by a felon, Use of a gun in a crime by a felon, which are punishable by 10 years in federal prison AND $250,000 fine. And because he shot at a cop that prison sentence is mandatory 25 years.

So tell me, what gap is Marty’s law going to fill?

          Easy on the fact’s

I call bullshit. The subject was age and gun ownership. YOU decided to bring race into it.
You are a coward and a racist.
You continue to take every single subject and inject race into it whenever you can.
          again……
from the safety of your keyboard, and with complete anonymity.

So how is Ty any different than the armed vigilantes at the Bundy ranch aiming their weapons at law enforcement officers?

Oh they were white right wingers.

      • whatthe46 September 14th, 2015 at 14:56

you answered your own question. and he won’t respond by the way.

      • Red Eye Robot September 14th, 2015 at 15:34

Vigalanties that didn’t shoot anyone? Another mythological creature, like Unicorns, Cthulhu, The Loch Ness Monster, and the Intellectually honest liberal, Tyrone Harris was on bail for Car theft and possession of a stolen handgun, (He was 18 at the time), He was illegally carrying a concealed weapon, (which he could not even legally possess), He shot at police officers.

Now if people were breaking the law at Bundy ranch why hasn’t Obamas Department of justice tracked these people down and charged them with breaking some law or another? There are hundreds of photos all over the internet. Surely these people wouldn’t be that hard to track down? Why are Obama and his Attorney General protecting these white right wingers? Why didn’t Eric Holder go after these white right wingers? Why did the BLM & FBI back down at Bundy ranch? Were they protecting these white right wingers too? Why hasn’t Cliven Bundy, The Head White Right Winger In Charge, been arrested? Are Obama & Lynch protecting him too?

    Nope, nope, nope.

o’malley’s plan doesn’t prevent access to those weapons to those 21 and under…because you would still have bureaucracies that are refusing to do background checks…you still have gun shops and dealers selling to anyone…so o’malley would just be making it so people could by guns for minors, for children in the same manner that over 21 buy beer for minors for a small fee or portion of alcohol. it’s not going to reduce gun violence

    • Mr. Garvey September 14th, 2015 at 15:05

Gun shops and dealer’s don’t sell to just anyone..

      • maggie September 14th, 2015 at 15:26

yeah they do…anyone who can pass a background check that takes just minutes…because bureaucracies don’t want to/are not required to do the work involved in investigating someone’s background more thoroughly ….not to mention the clusterfk of 25, 000 laws where the rules are anything goes…..get rid of gun shops and gun dealers…let the state do the selling…let them do the classes, licensing, renewals, insurance and monitoring…we don’t have a well regulated system…and that is what the second amendment requires

        • Mr. Garvey September 14th, 2015 at 15:30

Background checks can take up to three days or longer if you have a record.

If you don’t have a record then you are cleared… Simple process.

          • maggie September 14th, 2015 at 16:43

“can take up to 3 days….” “up to” or it can take five minutes…background checks are not thorough there need to be other qualifications and having to go through state sponsored class, (say that takes a month of weekends..or six weeks…. licensing etc gives bureaucracy much more time to be thorough while allowing a gun owner to become much more educated, responsible….not just about how to fire a fire arm but the philosophy behind having one…the issues, the responsibilities….all paid for by the person purchasing the gun..that’s how it’s paid for…and getting rid of the clusterfk of laws that allow gun owners now to do things that no advanced democracy in other countries would allow their citizens to do.

  4. Mr. Garvey September 14th, 2015 at 15:08

Boy O’Malley… That’s going to hurt the military recruitment…. Can’t have any under 21 yr olds running around with handguns..they can’t be trusted…

  5. Robert Smithson September 15th, 2015 at 02:33

The man who did such a terrible job as Mayor of Baltimore and Governor of Maryland should refrain from proposing any new gun laws. He enacted the most draconian gun laws Maryland has ever had and it is clear they are not working. Only the ability of the law abiding citizen who wants to own a gun has been affected, not the gangbangers.

  6. granpa.usthai September 15th, 2015 at 10:31

2nd Amendment don’t say nuthing about havin’ to be 21.

what we need are more 5 and 6 year olds with NK Nukes in their backpacks hard wired to a pressure release switch!

that’ll sure as hell prevent anymore massacres at grade schools!
