Kim Davis Back, Questions Legality Of Licenses Issued Without Her Authority

Posted by | September 14, 2015 09:30 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics

Rowan County, Kentucky Clerk Kim Davis is back at work today, but wants her name off marriage licenses issued to gay couples and says those marriages may not be legal.

Choking back tears this morning at a news conference before her return to work, a defiant Davis said she is faced with a “seemingly impossible choice … my conscience or my freedom,” referring to her opposition to same-sex marriages.

She added: “I’m no hero.”

Despite her assertion that her deputies don’t have her authority to issue marriage licenses, Rowan County Deputy Clerk Brian Mason said he will continue issuing them today.

Davis also told reporters this morning that she wants the licenses to indicate that they are being issued under federal authority.

I’ll just add this, sister isn’t doing her friggn’ job earning her $80k standing outside giving a press conference but there again her son wasn’t earning his pay either while standing outside with his mommy. And still no one cares about her personal opinion.

      absolutely.
this is the problem a lot of companies have with the WHITE Konservative Kristians.
do we pay them for all day long religious get togethers or tell the other workers they’re doing their ‘job’ – which as you’re pointing out, they don’t.

I wonder if she continued to get paid while in jail. In the military, that’s known as “bad time” and you accrue no pay or leave time.

I’d be amazed if she wasn’t paid.

I bet she did too. You or I wouldn’t if we did time in jail.

I have heard that an authorized deputy can do anything that she can do according to the KY law, and her getting all verklempt about it doesn’t make their legal actions invalid.

this is the kind of loophole that insurance companies live for. The missed dotted “I” or the uncrossed “T”.

part of her ‘release’ for contempt was that she not interfere with the upholding of the LAW – which she has just now done. My ‘conscience’ or my ‘job’? – which one is the paycheck being issued for?

Davis is one ugly hateful person that can’t shut up, much less do her job.
