Ellen To Caitlyn: Your Fellow Republicans Won’t Support You

Posted by | September 9, 2015 12:00 | Filed under: Media/Show Business Politics

Ellen DeGeneres reminded Caitlyn Jenner that her political party does not support the choices she’s made.

“It’s not a bad thing,” DeGeneres said regarding Jenner’s political beliefs. “The only thing is, a lot of Republicans — I don’t want to speak for everyone — want to vote against all of the issues that you as a woman and you as a trans person person would want someone to support.”

“I agree with that in some cases,” Jenner responded, before DeGeneres interjected by naming same-sex marriage. Jenner called it “gay marriage” before responding.

“I have to admit, I remember 15 years ago, whatever it was, this whole gay marriage issue came up — at first, I was not for it,” the reality show star said. “I thought, ‘I’m a traditionalist. I’m older than most people in the audience, you know? I kind of like tradition, and it’s always been a man and a woman. I’m thinking, ‘I don’t quite get it.’

“But as time has gone on, I think, like a lot of people on this issue, I have really changed my thinking here to, ‘I don’t ever want to stand in front of anybody’s happiness,’” she continued. “That’s not my job, OK? If that word, ‘marriage,’ is really, really that important to you, I can go with it.”

“It’s funny, ’cause you’re still kind of a little not on board with it,” DeGeneres replied.

“No, I’m on board,” Jenner insisted. “It is gonna be, pretty much, the law of the land. So I still feel like, I’m OK with it.”

It’s much, much easier to change political party than sex change.
Surely it’s so obvious that by supporting Repukes, you’re going against your own self interest.

You sorta hafta wonder, if she can’t see that, how bright is she? Like all the poor white people in the South and Midwest who keep voting for the people who want to cut their benefits. That’s why they call it voting against your interests.

That is kind of silly isn’t it? Backwards beyond belief.

Do you do crosswords?? If you do…the Sunday Times is always a challenge….every so often I would run across a puzzle where the clues and answers were …obtuse…strange??? Not wrong just odd..without fail the author would be a woman.. a wonderful illustration of linear vs non linear thinking…

I have done crosswords but not the ones that refer to films back in 1932, I do crosswords that I at least have a chance to know the answers. None of the newspapers ones seemed to be dumbed down enough for me to do. My grandmother would do all the newspaper crosswords up till her last week here, she lived till 86 and could still recall memories clearly.

You think you’re clever, you’re the first one to come up with that? I’ve heard variations on that since I was a kid (unlike you, I’m not afraid to use my real name here).

Because despite war, pestilence, economic instability, climate change resulting in drought,, firestorms, floods and mudslides, the item of overwhelming importance to the GOP is a persons sexual orientation.

Reminds me of a joke from many years ago.

On the first day of third grade, Sister Mary Honolulu told her students that, as a way of getting to know each other, they would all tell the class what they wanted to be when they grew up. Little Sally says, “I want to be a nurse.” Billy says, “I want to be a baseball player.” (it was in the 50’s) Jane says, “And I want to be a prostitute.” Sister says sharply, “What did you say?” “I want to be a prostitute.” “Thank God,” said Sister, “I thought you said you wanted to be a Protestant.”

  6. JohnJ September 9th, 2015 at 13:46

She is very rich and concerned about increasing the size of her pile of money, just like her ex. That whole “family” can not get enough, just like all hoarders.

THAT is why she is a repug.

  7. rg9rts September 9th, 2015 at 14:14

Being a Republican member of the LGBT community continues to be an exercise in self-flagellation.

  9. CandideThirtythree September 9th, 2015 at 22:09

My 13 year old granddaughter calls people republicans when she is mad at them, I asked her why and she said that her parents won’t let her cuss and republican was the worst thing she could think of.
