Politico: Boehner’s Future As Speaker In Doubt

Posted by | September 8, 2015 10:00 | Filed under: Politics

An increasingly non-resilient right-wing solidifying Republicans as “The Party Of No” is what is causing John Boehner difficulty.

…consider what he faces this fall: a quixotic but determined fight to defund Planned Parenthood, a potential government shutdown, a deadline to raise the federal debt ceiling or risk default, and a contentious showdown over highway spending. Boehner’s aides say they expect a vote to oust him, formally known as a motion to vacate the chair.

Boehner allies privately acknowledge the daunting challenge. “Who knows?” one ally said when asked if Boehner could beat back a coup attempt. “I don’t know. I don’t know how you change this dynamic.”

He has the job as long as he wants…there isn’t another idiot on the planet that would take that slot…its easier to be a cat herder

    • Larry Schmitt September 8th, 2015 at 10:58

      Not if they’re republican cats.

      • rg9rts September 8th, 2015 at 11:04

You don’t know cats…they are independents

        • Larry Schmitt September 8th, 2015 at 12:24

I thought you were gong to tell me they were democrats, but independent makes more sense.

People own and train dogs. Cats own and train people. I came. I purred and I conquered

          • rg9rts September 8th, 2015 at 13:26

Dogs aren’t to shabby in the people training department

            • Larry Schmitt September 8th, 2015 at 13:34

But they don’t use people the same way cats do.

            • The Original Just Me September 8th, 2015 at 13:40

They do real well in the training Dept. at about 3 in the morning when they want out to go potty.

Make that Republican Rats and Trump has the Piccolo.

  2. Tommie September 8th, 2015 at 10:48

Hell, even the Republicans are calling for him to quit, love the way they stick together!

The same tactics are being used to take over our government as was used in Germany in the 1930’s. Boehner might not seem to be doing the right things but he has been holding the Far Right Wing Nut Cases at bay. If he goes, you can expect total craziness in the House. That is a weak way to defend him, which is something I do not wish to do, but he sure does beat the alternative.

      The lesser of several evils.

      • The Original Just Me September 8th, 2015 at 13:10

Yup, I think we are at best, stuck with him until Jan. 2017.

  4. Mike September 8th, 2015 at 11:44

Louie Gohmert for speaker…let’s make congress the laughing stock of the world.

    • Dwendt44 September 8th, 2015 at 12:18

      You mean it’s not already?

      • Larry Schmitt September 8th, 2015 at 12:53

That one fell right in your lap.

        • The Original Just Me September 8th, 2015 at 13:08

          Right On.

      • The Original Just Me September 8th, 2015 at 13:07

        I agree with Larry.

    • Larry Schmitt September 8th, 2015 at 12:54

No, I couldn’t take that. We’d be seeing his sh*t eating grin even more than we do now. Surely there has to be some stray dog they can elect instead.

      • The Original Just Me September 8th, 2015 at 13:09

Check the local Dog pound. There has to be something better out there.

        • Larry Schmitt September 8th, 2015 at 13:34

Maybe they could find a pit bull, and it would bite somebody. No, then the dog would get something worse than rabies.

A mouth full of Bull Crap does leave a bad taste in your mouth.

    • Robert Kennedy September 9th, 2015 at 01:35

It already is. When a clown like Boehner is one of the most rational members of your party you are already in the Twilight Zone.

  5. Foundryman September 8th, 2015 at 13:47

I hope they do kick him out, it doesn’t really matter who they choose as long as he gets to go back to his district as a failed speaker. Maybe, just maybe then he’ll get voted out completely, or quit.

    • whatthe46 September 8th, 2015 at 15:27

well, i hope someone takes a picture of him crying.

      • Larry Schmitt September 8th, 2015 at 15:28

        That image would live forever.

Boehner deserves these attacks on his leadership because he stood by and let these nuts take over the GOP and said nothing. He swore them into Congress with a smile on his face, and now, the TPers in the House are nipping at his heels like rabid dogs and trying to take a bite out of his hide.

    • Robert Smithson September 9th, 2015 at 00:27

No, he deserves these attacks on his leadership because he did nothing to fight Obama’s policies. The Republicans have had the power of the purse and that could have been used to stop Obama’s shenanigans, yet they did nothing that the voters who gave them the majority wanted them to do. So hopefully it’s bye, bye to the crybaby.

One has to at least respect the Democrat left, they fight like hell for what they want even when they do not have a majority.

      • Robert Kennedy September 9th, 2015 at 01:33

THe big difference between Obama and the Republicans is that when they agree Obama is wrong, like on TPP, but when they disagree Obama is right every single time and every Republican filibuster was, in fact, a treasonous action.

Informally known as Go home, you’re drunk.

There is no Constitutional requirement for the Speaker of the House to be a sitting member.

why not bring in Newt Gingrich as their new speaker. Love him or hate him, he like his most famous predecessors in recent history Tip O Neil and Sam Rayburn, Gingrich knew how to do the job.

    Boehner clearly does not

  9. Robert Smithson September 9th, 2015 at 00:22

One of the worst Speakers of the House ever. The only way he might survive is for the Dems to support him, and then he will be considered a Democrat himself.
