Rand Paul–Native Americans’ Problems Due To ‘Lack Of Assimilation’

Rand Paul’s campaign for the GOP nomination is just about kaput, but that didn’t stop the Kentucky Senator from trying to do a Donald Trump imitation on the subject of Native Americans during an interview.

Paul was being interviewed by right wing radio personality Laura Ingraham, and they both expressed their opinions on “separatist” minorities.  Senator Paul thought it was the opportune time to let loose with this remark:

I think assimilation is an amazing thing. A good example of how, even in our country, assimilation didn’t happen — and it has been a disaster for the people — has been the Native American population on the reservations. If they were assimilated, within a decade they’d probably be doing as well as the rest of us. But instead, seclusion and isolating them — we took their land, and then we put them all on small quadrants of land….READ MORE at LiberalAmerica

what part of “native Americans” is hard to understand?

    • anothertoothpick September 7th, 2015 at 12:20

Tracey the one good thing trump has done is flushing this re-DICK-u-lous libertarian crack pot idea down the toilet. An idea that is totally hogwash.

Little Randy had some “visions of grandeur” until trumpey showed up

      • allison1050 September 7th, 2015 at 12:46

        Doesn’t he just!

  2. anothertoothpick September 7th, 2015 at 12:16

He has got this things backward. It was the invaders that should have assimilated in the Americas.

It was the vile, murderous europeans that violated the law of assimilation. The natives here where doing just fine for the first 10,000 years until the plagued drenched pilgrims showed up.

I wish these politicians would show a little respect to the history of the country that they want to lead.

He obviously didn’t read what someone else wrote for him. Or if he wrote it himself, he still didn’t read it.

There must be some serious brain defect in Goper anatomy, as they are able to twist facts, logic, and common sense into completely absurd conclusions, all to support their bigotry, avarice, and anti-intellectualism.
Gee Randie, the while folk came to this hemisphere, slaughtered the native population, enslaved them stole their land, sent them to barren reservations, and you blame them for lack of “assimilation”…??
These people are beyond redemption, education, and any efforts to make them civilized beings.

  4. Tommie September 7th, 2015 at 12:27

This guy who had a problem with civil rights and then turns around and said “assimilation is good”! Will somebody please wake me up from this nightmare?

    • allison1050 September 7th, 2015 at 12:45

wakey wakey why the hell should we suffer without you? ;o)

  6. Suzanne McFly September 7th, 2015 at 13:11

Yeah, those damn Indians. Why didn’t they assimilate to the Europeans way of life when they decimated the Indians and their way of life in their own land? Who the hell understands these nuts?

    • anothertoothpick September 7th, 2015 at 14:36

You won’t believe this susan but trump once spoke to me.

He said “get out of the fucking way”

      I charish the moment.

      • Suzanne McFly September 7th, 2015 at 16:56

At least he didn’t try to make you lick his shoes. I would of let my mouth get me in trouble if he said that to me, some trouble is always good I believe.

Picture if you will New York City, Manhattan in front of the Waldorf fall of 1970.

Very crowded sidewalk as usual in New York we where working our way back into the hotel because we had our rooms there. We were just coming back from Joe Namath’s bar the “Bachelors Three”. All of a sudden this entourage comes storming out of the revolving doors.

We did not even know who Trump was until the door man told us. But he looked right at me when he said those words. I was thinking “what the fuck did I do”.

Arrogance is simply ignorance with money.

Christie would have told you to sit dawn and shut up

  7. Mike September 7th, 2015 at 13:14

You self serving prick, how dare you speak as though you know anything about living on a reservation. Without the minuscule piece of our Native lands you allow us to call our own, we would have been dead and gone a hundred years ago.
FU with a totem pole right up your a$$

  8. labman57 September 7th, 2015 at 13:31

If them Injuns refuse to adapt to our way of life, then they should go back where they came from!

  9. Merlin September 7th, 2015 at 14:41

” If they were assimilated, within a decade they’d probably be doing as well as the rest of us.”

Rand probably thinks that about everyone who doesn’t wear black and have a squirrel on their head!

  10. Warman1138 September 7th, 2015 at 17:20

It just boggles the mind to think that Paul actually convinced enough people to vote him into an office much less got talked into letting him try for the presidency.

    • Larry Schmitt September 7th, 2015 at 17:40

You could just as easily substitute any of the other GOP names there.

  11. Dwendt44 September 7th, 2015 at 17:58

I have the impression that he thinks the same thing about the blacks that we enslaved and brought thousands of miles from their own country and continent.

    • Larry Schmitt September 7th, 2015 at 18:00

He thinks they were happy because they had their meals provided and useful work to do. I mean, they sang all day, right?

      • Tommie September 7th, 2015 at 19:42

        Sweet chariot!

        • Larry Schmitt September 7th, 2015 at 20:04

And they even had a ride.

  12. Tommie September 7th, 2015 at 19:46

You tell ’em Mike, these fools act like they care about minorities and understand what we go through! A$$holes!!!

  13. lynchie September 7th, 2015 at 20:14

How do you assimilate when you are systematically murdered and herded like cattle to a reservation where even tumbleweeds can’t thrive. We killed millions of buffalo and took every shred of their culture away. Yeah assimilate this you fuck stick.

  14. amersham46 September 7th, 2015 at 21:00

Paul ,,,,, please go away ,,, far far away

  15. bpollen September 7th, 2015 at 23:29

Pay no attention to the attempted genocide, germ warfare. cheating and theft by the same government agencies assigned to protect their interests, the attempted extermination of their languages, removal of children from Native homes to teach them in white run boarding schools, five hundred years and more of discrimination, having your land taken for white use, and being forced to go to the most inhospitable places available… It’s just indigenous peoples failing to choose to “fit in.”

Does being a self-certified putative opthamologist REALLY give you expertise in OTHER cultures’ experiences?

  16. CandideThirtythree September 8th, 2015 at 03:01

Oh don’t pick on Paul, he has a birth defect…he was born without the irony gene.
