Benham Defending Davis: Gay Marriage ‘The Death Rattle Of America’

Posted by | September 6, 2015 07:00 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics Radio Interviews Religion

Former Operation Rescue head Flip Benham is supporting Kentucky clerk Kim Davis in her attempt to stop gay marriages. He defended her on my radio show Friday night.

Rev. Benham, who is in Kentucky right now to attend events to rally around Davis, said that there will be more people like Davis who will believe they are not violating any laws. Rev. Benham also told Alan why he thinks gay marriage “is an oxymoron,” why you can’t defend gay marriage as a civil right if it’s a “sin,” and why gay marriage will lead to “the death knell of the individual.”

Fire and Brimstone baby. The fundies are crawling out from under the rocks, of ages.

    • allison1050 September 6th, 2015 at 08:44

Barry Goldwater warned of this very thing.

  2. allison1050 September 6th, 2015 at 07:42

I just have to wonder how many of these ugly screamers are closet gays/bisexuals and are really just fighting it.

Gay Marriage ‘The Death Rattle Of America’
They have said that EVERY time freedom and liberty has been extended to EVERY minority since the beginning of the the nation.

    • allison1050 September 6th, 2015 at 07:44

They’re just a bunch of Drama Queens.

    • Robert Smithson September 6th, 2015 at 08:24

Freedom and liberty via the liberal way is nothing more than taking it from one part of the population and giving it to another, and once again this happened via unelected Judges.

      • StoneyCurtisll September 6th, 2015 at 08:52

        Sore loser.

      • Hirightnow September 6th, 2015 at 08:59

What was taken from you when gay marriage was legalized?

        • Larry Schmitt September 6th, 2015 at 09:01

Their right to discriminate against the icky gays of course.

          • Hirightnow September 6th, 2015 at 09:02

            Oh,right.
I keep forgetting that’s in the Constitution.

      • OldLefty September 6th, 2015 at 09:16

That’s EXACTLY what WE say about Freedom and liberty via the conservative way, which is more like the Taliban way.

Thou dost project too much, Methinks.
Neurotic projection is perceiving others as operating in ways one unconsciously finds objectionable in oneself.

By the way, the majority doesn’t get to vote on the basic rights of the minority.

As for; “forcing this whole thing upon the entire nation.”????

Did they outlaw strait marriage, forcing EVERYONE into gay marriages???

        When did THAT happen?

        • Larry Schmitt September 6th, 2015 at 09:36

Yes, haven’t you heard? You’re going to have to divorce your wife and marry the guy down the block. You have until Tuesday. You’re registered at Ace Hardware. Your wife will be marrying your best friend’s sister. Many happy returns.

          • Red Mann September 6th, 2015 at 13:52

Yes, my wife and I will have to divorce after 49 years and find gay partners. Oh the horror!

      • Larry Schmitt September 6th, 2015 at 09:41

Why should it be allowed to “work its (correct spelling) way through the states”? Why should residents in some states have more rights than others? We’re supposed to be one nation, not 50. The Supreme Court did what they were supposed to do, they ensured equal rights for all.

      • anothertoothpick September 6th, 2015 at 10:12

What if you lived in a state with one set of marriage laws, and your company moves your job to a state with different Marriage Laws?

We have had this argument over and over about a million times with the righties and they just can’t seem to grasp it.

      • arc99 September 6th, 2015 at 10:15

when I get to decide on your right to vote or own a firearm, you get to decide on whether gay people get married.

unelected judges ended Jim Crow segregation in this country. it is the job of the courts to strike down laws that violate the United States Constitution.

sorry if equality for everyone of all races, religions, ethnicities and sexual preferences offends you. move to Iran or Saudia Arabia.

        • Red Mann September 6th, 2015 at 13:51

“your right to vote” is under attack from the right all over the country.

      • arc99 September 6th, 2015 at 10:23

may we assume that if somewhere in this country, a Muslim worker at the Department of Motor Vehicles refused to issue a driver’s license to a woman, due to his deeply held religious beliefs, you would be here defending that person and ranting against “unelected judges” or as normal people call it, the United States Constitution.

        • Larry Schmitt September 6th, 2015 at 10:29

Of course, he would be willing to go to jail for her right to “live according to her religious beliefs.”

      • BigDumbWhiteGuy September 6th, 2015 at 10:34

What constitutionally protected right has been taken away from those opposed to same-sex marriage?

        • Larry Schmitt September 6th, 2015 at 10:35

Not even their right to continue to hate the gays, if that’s what they want to do. They just can’t act on their hate, or use it to justify denying them their rights.

      • Red Mann September 6th, 2015 at 13:49

Wow, what a total misrepresentation of reality. What color is the sun in your world?

        • fahvel September 7th, 2015 at 03:12

it’s very very dark and leaves his character in a cloud of misery and ignorance and hate.

      • whatthe46 September 6th, 2015 at 19:17

the only people who seem to want to shove anything down everyones throat are the RWNJ “christians” and their phony religion.

  4. GOP=Cuckservative Neanderthals September 6th, 2015 at 07:51

Let the victimization of the poor, defenseless Christians continue! They were spineless cowards when the Romans threw them to the lions and they haven’t changed since!

  5. Larry Schmitt September 6th, 2015 at 08:59

Why doesn’t someone challenge these blowhards to offer proof that merely providing equal rights, including the opportunity to marry, will be the “death knell” of anything, including this country, civilization or the individual? They are allowed to spew these pronouncements without providing any proof. And there is no such thing as “sin” in the secular world, which is the one that government operates in.

    • Red Mann September 6th, 2015 at 13:48

“Proof? We don’t need no stinking proof!”

  6. rg9rts September 6th, 2015 at 09:25

So will income equality …voters rights..

  7. Budda September 6th, 2015 at 09:58

…a sin….what the hell does that have to do with Constitutional law?

  8. anothertoothpick September 6th, 2015 at 10:02

Stay in Jail Miss Davis. You are right were you belong.
And the world is a better place now with the sun shinning slightly brighter.

  9. Suzanne McFly September 6th, 2015 at 10:14

If we just ignore the crazies, will they finally fade away?

    • anothertoothpick September 6th, 2015 at 10:16

      That is what Galileo thought.

      • Suzanne McFly September 6th, 2015 at 10:46

Well I have no problem having similar thoughts to this great scientist. If you said I was thinking like palin, I would find a doctor who still gives lobotomies.

    • Larry Schmitt September 6th, 2015 at 10:20

They haven’t yet, they just become republican presidential candidates.

      • Suzanne McFly September 6th, 2015 at 10:47

        I can wish though.

    • Red Mann September 6th, 2015 at 13:47

No, they are being driven by a well-oiled machine that is using them to deflect from their power grab.

      • Marla R. Stevens September 7th, 2015 at 16:04

Precisely. It may even extend to a criminal conspiracy on the part of Tony Perkins and Mat Staver, organizing criminal activities nationwide in a coordinated attempt to nullify the Obergefell decision as well as civil rights laws in general.

  10. Larry Schmitt September 6th, 2015 at 10:22

Dana Milbank has another spot on column on this. I highly recommend it. https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/lawbreaker-kim-davis-and-the-lawless-ted-cruz/2015/09/04/fd63c660-5333-11e5-9812-92d5948a40f8_story.html

Flipper Benham on Davis’ 3 divorces: ‘why you can’t defend remarriage as a civil right if it’s a “sin”. The only thing these theocracy-now bigots are upset about is conservative majority SCOTUS equal marriage decisions, eliminated their last cash-cow scam.

    • Larry Schmitt September 6th, 2015 at 11:04

What they don’t get is that in the civil, secular world, there’s no such thing as sin. It’s either a crime or it’s not. Being gay isn’t a crime, marrying someone of the same gender isn’t a crime, and neither is divorcing and remarrying, or Davis would have been in jail a long time ago.

  12. Red Mann September 6th, 2015 at 13:46

We seem to be in the middle of the Sixth Great Awakening, the rise of the Morons. Waves of stupidity and ignorance are washing across the land in great waves from shore to shore, sweeping away intelligence, rational thinking, common civility; attempting to drive us back to the Good Old Dark Ages.

  13. Mainah September 6th, 2015 at 14:03

How is it that they all use the Dred case? How is that anywhere close to being the same thing? These people suck at debate and analogies.

    • Chris September 7th, 2015 at 09:21

Because their personal savior Huckabee uses it, and he’s the dumb person’s idea of what a smart person sounds like.

  14. William September 7th, 2015 at 09:53

Unlike adultery, gay marriage didn’t make Gods top ten no-no list

  15. cecilia September 7th, 2015 at 13:59

let’s hope it’s the death rattle of the insane parts of America

  16. GOP=Cuckservative Neanderthals September 7th, 2015 at 21:48

I would like to hear what her defenders would be saying if she was black or Islam refusing .
