Yes, it’s Donald Trump, doing well with evangelical Christians. Jonathan Merritt at The Atlantic posits why.
The answer seems to be the growing anti-establishment sentiments held by many evangelical Christians. (After all, the Tea Party movement draws “disproportionate support” from their ranks.) Not only are conservative Christians solidly Republican, they are also fierce traditionalists who feel that their values are increasingly under assault by modern society.
They like a candidate who will stand up to “the media”—whether Jorge Ramos or Megyn Kelly—because they feel reporters don’t give them a fair shake either. They are drawn to a candidate who hails from outside the Beltway—even if his hometown is the elitist island of Manhattan—because they think the Washington establishment has abandoned them. And they appreciate someone who makes no apology for using politically incorrect rhetoric—even if this includes a bit of profanity or misogyny—because they believe society is increasingly intolerant of many of their sentiments, too.

Trump, and to a slightly lessor extent the rest of those in the short bus, offer simple solutions to complex problems, if not unsolvable ones. That appeals to the simpletons that support him/them.

simplest solution to ANY problem is a hardwired pressure release switch detonator connected to a Czar Bomb. While you may never know the final results that were solved, you can RIP knowing that you, the problem at hand (no matter how complex) the city you’re within 100 miles of and any other lifeforms will be itty bitty tiny green glowing particles in the upper stratosphere so it really won’t matter!

Yeah, his response about military issues “I will be the best President ever for the military”…….about women “Women love me”…….about minorities “The Latino/Asian/African American groups love me”……answers nothing and has the nerve to assume this will work to appease any group.

It doesn’t take much to compare the Trump spectacle to others in history. A demented, narcissistic speaker appeals to the worst in a culture, spreads fear and foments anger toward those who are “different” and blames them for all the problems of the day. While calling for National Pride and a return to some kind of lost “greatness”, the leader eventually mobilizes all power and esconses himself as dictator, with dire results for the country and sometimes the world.
