Wonder spoke during a free concert at New York’s Central Park.

“As much as we have made some incredible strides, we have also really gone to this crazy place, like them against us and us against them,” he said. “We really need to do that thing called fixing the planet, by fixing each other, fixing ourselves. That includes everyone, me and us, in the spirit of love.”

Wonder, who has long championed tougher gun laws, continued, “We have gotta find a place, we as Americans of all ethnicities, we’ve got to put an end to it . . . What we have to do, whether you’re NRA or whatever, is find a place of everyone being accountable for every gun we have here.”

I met Stevie a while back…a friend of a friend sold their house to him (Alpine NJ) and he played “Isn’t She Lovely” on her piano and sang in the living room.

Nice! I met him in New Orleans. It was his birthday and I went to a club for it, where he played for 4 hours. After we left, he gave us a ride home in his limo. He took out his afro comb thingy and started playing it like an instrument and sang in the car. Best night ever!

There were only 8 of us in the room at it was one of the most memorial events of my life…

That sounds really neat. Have you ever seen his wife?

            • Mike August 19th, 2015 at 20:08

Yolanda was his wife at the time, but she wasn’t there, so no, I have never met or seen her.

                Neither has he.

                OK, that was bad.

I grew up in the Detroit area and am 18 months older than Stevie. The first song I remember was “Contract On Love” c1962. I was hooked. I doubt that many outside of the area have ever heard it but I believe it was his first release. With each new release he only got better.

Cherish that time with him (duh!) because you got to sit in a small room and witness what is one of the greatest musicians of our time.

Really bad joke…:) but the anecdote made up for it about “Contract On Love”

I came late to the game with “Innervisions” and “Songs in the key of Life” …just the same I think he’s not only a great musician but a great man.

When a blind man can see the problems we have with gun control, you might want to pay attention.

    Even the blind can see.

This isn’t an abstract debate. In Iowa, the visually impaired are legally allowed to carry firearms in public provided they have a permit. In Texas, laws have been passed to help the blind hunt.

STEVIE WONDER IS A HERO, A HUMANITARIAN AND AN AMAZING MUSICIAN he understands that it is the law makers who have rolled over for the NRA and have allowed all these guns to be out there…with no monitoring,…..he knows that the state has put the guns into the hands of the people who have murdered with them….and it’s time we told the state enough is enough and it’s time for them to live up to their promise of the second amendment…two words…state..”well regulated” you aren’t doing it and it’s your responsibility….that’s what the second amendment says…

Most arguments for having guns are invalid.

Japan has reduced gun deaths to about two per year compared to 30,000+ in US.
