It seems like a Blessing that this woman was Honored by the President before she passed away. That would be quite a memory to take to one’s grave.

Emma was born in 1905 Anno Domini.

That is back when people talked like that.

She sure must have seen an awful lot in those 110 years. I would have liked to talk with her.

My grandfather lived into his late 90’s. He was a WWI vet and was wounded in combat in France. I used to sit and listen to him for hours.

    Rest in Peace Emma.

        Well said…and true. Sometimes.

My grandfather who saw combat in WWI would talk about the war, but my father who was in WWII (Okinawa and the Pacific) was like a locked book. I mean he did not ignore questions…but he would not elaborate too much.

The good news is I was able to get all my fathers service records from the Navy department.

Some people love to share and others not so much. The ones who share though can give you information you never would’ve even thought about if you hadn’t spoken to them. My grandfather died before I was born but he served in WW2 in Africa. My Mom said he got in trouble for bringing a monkey back on his ship. I love hearing stories about him, he sounds like a perfect grandpa and I would love to have heard his sea stories.
