Stasi: Trump Not The Only Republican Candidate Demeaning Women

Posted by | August 9, 2015 23:00 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics

Donald Trump may be nasty in his personal attacks, but that doesn’t make him the only Republican candidate demeaning women and Linda Stasi writes:

Mike Huckabee once said that it’s “a statistical reality that most single moms are very poor, under-educated, can’t get a job, and if it weren’t for government assistance, their kids would be starving to death.” His statistics, in reality, turned out to be pure pig arse!

Then there’s Jeb Bush, who is pro-life but who as Florida governor waived a veto on what he called the “Scarlet Letter Law” (later replaced), which advocated public shaming as the cure for unmarried women who chose to give their children up for adoption. It required them to give their names, ages and the names of sexual partners for newspaper ads that would run every week for one month!

Ted Cruz reportedly said in a debate at Harvard that God should “give women a hymen that grows back every time she has intercourse with a different guy, because that will be a ‘visible sign’ of the breach of trust.” He never said what “God” should do to cheating men.

And yet, there are thousands of women (and men) who will not only still vote for them, but support them!

In 2012 just 44% of women voted for the Greedy Oil Polluter party. Repubs 21st century peak. All Women Voters total 53%. POTUS Obama was reelected by 55% of Women vs 44% of women for Mitt’nRyan. Many registered repub women no longer vote for their misogynists. http://www.ropercenter.uconn.edu/polls/us-elections/how-groups-voted/how-groups-voted-2012/

Just to be clear, I’m not trying to poke fun at anyone (well, out of the voters I mean).
I just seriously don’t get it.

    I find it all bewildering.

    So bloody true!
It’s something you hear more from Repukes than from the Dems, if you ever heard some from Dems.
The thing is, Repukes are not just verbally demeaning women, but they are actively & ferociously legislating anti-women laws in GOP controlled States and federally.
So, it’s really so surprising, frustrating and disgusting that there still are lots of women supporting the Repukes.

Oh, Ms marie, you really should read you some Dorothy Parker!
Last night I was doing just that, and a couple of her poems come to mind and I wish I had written them down.

Here’s a few of her lines I’ve memorized that, while not being on topic, are nice to read anyways. I may not be entirely accurate because they are from memory:

“You can lead a horticulture but you can’t make her think.”

      and,

      “I like a martini,
      Two, at the most.
Three, and I’m under the table,
Four, and I’m under the host.”

I’m sure these insensitive *snicker* and demeaning *giggle* remarks will get a lot more coverage now that the fair and balanced people are on board.

I’ll bet these are the same guys who claim it’s the woman’s fault if she’s attacked, brutally beaten and gang raped while walking to her car after work. Lord knows she was just asking for it, dressed in nothing more than a full length coat, scarf, hat, mittens and boots.

    • The Original Just Me August 10th, 2015 at 23:35

She should have worn a Burka.

      • burqa August 10th, 2015 at 23:48

        Sounds good to me.
