James Holmes Gets Life In Prison

Posted by | August 7, 2015 19:38 | Filed under: Top Stories

James Holmes will not get the death penalty for killing 12 people in a Colorado movie theater.

Prosecutors, emphasizing the human toll and indiscriminate cruelty of opening fire on a happy crowd of moviegoers, argued that he should join the three other men on Colorado’s death row. They argued that toll he exacted was so great, and the indiscriminate rampage so horrible, that death by lethal injection was the only just punishment.

But defense lawyers said it was not hatred or a desire for notoriety that propelled Mr. Holmes to plot and carry out the massacre, but a deepening form of schizophrenia that infected his mind with powerful delusions that killing people somehow increased his “human capital.”

and i agree. this is also why the DP should be abolished all over this country. murder one get death, murder 12, get life. hell, serial killers take a plea. just look at Rader aka BTK. aside from the fact that too many have been released because they were actually innocent. it’s fk’n disgusting.

        The American just-us system…
Sometimes it works, most of the time it goes to the highest bidder.

Good. An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind. Let this f**ker rot in prison!

      Well stated.

An eye for an eye would be letting the murdered victims relatives form the firing squad.

      But… But…

Hans: An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind.

Billy: No, it doesn’t. There’ll be one guy left with one eye. How’s the last blind guy gonna take out the eye of the last guy left?

He will be in jail for about 60 years and will never get to walk freely again, sounds just to me.

Wow – such a massive lack of compassion and xtian charity for this massively and possibly irreversibly mentally ill young man who deserves to be in one of the mental hospitals that was closed in the 80s (so that the for profit prison system could make money off them by incarcerating them in a violent prison complex).

Let’s not even go into what happens to people like him at the hands of corrupt inmates and the inevitable even more corrupt low-paid for profit prison employees.

I know it’s very hard to have empathy for a murderer but this guy is mentally ill first and foremost and the mentally ill do not belong in a prison – especially not in a horrific American for-profit hellhole.

A guy I met a few years ago who is the son of a man an acquaintance used to date had just come home to live with his father after having been incarcerated in an OK for profit prison. Food was awful, he said. Said he was losing lots of weight because it was so horrible.

Then, they put him to work in the kitchen and he found out why it was so awful.

Boxes they were being fed from were marked “not for human consumption.”

He said it was owned by Wackenhut.

And this is a man who can fend for himself. SURE – he has some issues – and one of them got him a prison sentence – but he’s not a monster and he does not deserve what he got in that prison.

No one does. Even cold blooded killers who do it for sport do not deserve that. It’s as uncivilized as the murderers and their murders.

eDIT: some people do deserve to spend life in prison. It’s far worse punishment than being put to death by a murderous revenge-seeking government.

and it’s less expensive as a general rule.

This guy has a deepening form of schizophrenia that infected his mind – so of course the cure for that is to get his hands on a fully loaded Smith & Wesson. Welcome to NRA country.

Holmes was clearly out of his mind. Sanctioned state murder would not have been justice. However, the corporate death penalty for manufacturers of automatic weapons and their enablers (i.e. the NRA) would have been just.
