Romney: Trump’s Comments Hurting The Republican Party

Posted by | July 4, 2015 19:00 | Filed under: News Behaving Badly Politics

Mitt Romney said Donald Trump’s comments are “a severe error” that’s hurting the Republican Party.

“I think he made a severe error in saying what he did about Mexican-Americans,” Romney said.

When asked whether more Republican 2016 candidates ought to join him in speaking out against Trump, Romney responded “I think a number of them have.”

This question likely came as a response to George Pataki, who was the first candidate to call out to his rivals to denounce Trump’s statements for their “divisive rhetoric.” Ted Cruz has previously indicated that he stands with Trump’s sentiments, but contenders like Rick Perry and Rubio, Romney’s own guest, have also indicated their dissatisfaction with Trump’s repeated defense of his statements.

News Alert for Romney ! News Alert for Romney ! Trump’s comments are not the only ones that are hurting the Republican Party. They have a whole Clown bus full of commentators that are going at it.

I agree with Mitt on this point — Trump’s racist comments have further damaged the already-listing GOP brand.
But Donald being Donald really doesn’t give a sh*t. If it helps him stay in the media spotlight, it’s all good.

Romney has no credibility on this issue, or any other, because when he was running for POTUS in 2012, he joined right in in demonizing certain groups of Americans and in bashing the president. If he had wanted to establish credibility, he would have deviated from the rw talking points in 2012, but he chose not to. Dude was so far out of touch with reality that he didn’t have a concession speech prepared and was forced to craft one on the fly. Fireworks and party essentials were ready in Boston, and he was sure he’d be enjoying them but discovered otherwise, then he, Ryan, and their families and friends were in such a state of shock that they couldn’t do anything, except cry and lick their wounds. He was then so petty that he cancelled his staff members’ credit cards before the could get out of Boston.

After running after and kissing Trumps ring during the last election, Romney has some nerve to say Trump is hurting the repuke party this time. Like the Tparty, Trump is their monster that THEY created, I hope he eats them alive.

I’m no fan of Romney, but I completely agree with his sentiments about Trump. Trump has to realize that he’s nothing more than an attention stealing joke, at this point.

Just as Mittens was during run in ’12 calling for “self deportation” as I recall.

The GOP base loves what Trump is saying, he speaks for them…
Why else would he be polling neck in neck with Bush lll for first place?
Just shows ya what type of people we are going to have to vote against in 2016..

  10. fahvel July 5th, 2015 at 01:43

mitt will smooth it all out with his brilliant political acumen and his benign facial expressions.

Wasn’t it Mitt who said he couldn’t have Mexicans doing his lawn while he was running for office but it was ok before that?

I think that the world knows how republicans feel about anyone who is not white…unless they are a useful idiot of course but as soon as they are not useful any more they kick them to them curb like they did Allen West.

  12. Gindy51 July 5th, 2015 at 06:48

You’re right, Mitt. Trump is hurting the GOP because he is exposing everything you asshats actually stand for.

  13. William July 5th, 2015 at 07:53

    I feel your pain Mitt.

Saying stupid sh!t DOES hurt the party.

“There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what…who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims. …These are people who pay no income tax. …and so my job is not to worry about those people. I’ll never convince them that they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives.”

Anytime the gopee clowns open their mouth they hurt the party

  15. tracey marie July 5th, 2015 at 09:29

“Severe” seems to be mittens go to word, he did say he was a severe conservative.

What I find ridiculous is mittens thinks it hurts repubs chances to win elections, not that the comments are” severly” wrong because they are xnophobic and hurt America.

    • thinkingwomanmillstone July 5th, 2015 at 09:39

That was my first thought…he’s worried about the damage to the party and not the damage to the people being denigrated.
