And she’s the only female in the race.

…a 13-year-old dog named Diamond is running for mayor of the upstate New York town just north of Albany.

Diamond, of course, isn’t the only candidate in the race for the mayor’s seat. Current mayor Gary McCarthy and challengers Roger Hull and Chris Gibbs are all on the docket. However, Diamond is the only dog in the running.

Also, she’s the only woman.

Diamond isn’t the first nonhuman to run for mayor of Schenectady. Sparky the cat ran in 2007, and another cat named Roger ran in 2011.
