Free Beacon Derides Hillary For ‘Learning’ And Evolving

Free Beacon Editor-in-Chief Matthew Continetti

When you begin an editorial with the lyrics to a Boy George/Culture Club song, like Matthew Continetti’s editorial about Hillary Clinton and switch the gender, you know his desperation has reached a critical point.  The son-in-law of Bill Kristol, who was given his editor-in-chief  job at The Free Beacon (no, it’s not a site like the Onion, although it looks very similar) is enraged that Hillary Clinton is able to adapt to changes in society as a whole, so he labels her a “chameleon.” She doesn’t suffer from Draconian Biblical syndrome, like the members of the GOP Klown Kar, and learns as she goes, but that does not mean she shares a reptilian brain, like his party members.

Since Bill Clinton was an almost-right-leaning centrist president, he assumes that Hillary has the same modus operandi.  Of course Matty would think that she does, as the GOP wife would never challenge her husband’s ideas, the GOP wife knows HER place. Hillary, however, is not the same person as Bill.  She wants softer penalties for drug offenses, she’s fully supportive of Marriage Equality and she is far more liberal on the issue of immigration.   Even Bill has evolved, but the whole idea of evolution is anathema to a Republican.   The bitter tone is unmistakable.

They say Obama’s audacious. What’s truly remarkable, though, is his potential successor’s blatant contempt for the politics of principle and conviction—her unique ability to adopt, quickly and seamlessly, the most expedient position at any moment, to flaunt her temporary stance with the righteousness and self-regard of a longtime committed activist.

He goes back 29 years to find ammunition against Mrs. Clinton.  If a Democrat ever did that to a Republican, they would say it was shallow and reaching.  Continetti’s desperation is evident when he summarizes his convoluted, jealous rage:

Like a Terminator she is fixated on her mission—though the Terminator has more personality, greater charm. There’s an assumption behind all her latest moves, a programming code that determines the automaton’s behavior: that the country’s demographics and culture have changed to such an extent that a winning campaign needn’t do more than identify and mobilize core supporters by assuming the various poses most likely to drive them to the polls. There’s the chance the code could be garbage.

What he really wants to say is that he’s very jealous.  Jealous that the Democratic Party can learn and evolve while his Republican friends, like his pop-in-law, Bloody Bill Kristol, must cling to racist stereotypes and idiotic dogma they’ve misinterpreted from ancient Biblical text.  Hillary is not a ‘chameleon,’ she is a representative of the public she will serve.

The original Terminator movie came out in the mid-eighties. The teenagers who initially saw it are now middle-aged.
That’s what passes for cutting-edge pop culture in Republican circles.

Another intellectual moment carefully crafted for CNN courtesy of our most aspiring author of ” The Persecution of Sarah Palin. ” Various pets throughout the country if not the world are grateful for the chance to peruse such wonderful and exciting reading, rendering an opinion frequently if not messily. All that effort gone to waste, in more ways than one.
