Democratic Bill Bans Guns At Airports

Posted by | June 17, 2015 11:30 | Filed under: Politics

Rep. Hank Johnson of Georgia’s bill would ban guns before security check points at airports.

Johnson’s bill, called the Airport Security Act of 2015, would prevent anyone besides police officers to carry guns in areas before security checkpoints, regardless of whether or not they have a license, The Hill reports.

“Airports are the gateway to commerce throughout the world and the front door to the communities they connect for millions of passengers who visit the United States each year,” Johnson said in a statement. “It defies logic that we would allow anyone other than law enforcement officials to carry a loaded gun within an airport. This bill is simple common sense.”

As it stands currently, some guns are allowed to be carried on planes if they’re unloaded, locked and packed into checked baggage. TSA regulations prohibit guns from being packed in carry-on luggage.

According to Johnson’s office, the bill would “expand Homeland Security’s jurisdiction to include non-secure areas of airports and would take precedence over any city or state laws that allow weapons in any airports nationwide.”

The legislation comes following an incident involving a man who legally carried an AR-15 inside Atlanta-Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

People who open carry guns are bloody show offs and look so stupid.

  2. tracey marie June 17th, 2015 at 13:10

Those who feel the need to open carry any weapon on their person at all times are paranoid and insane.

  3. allison1050 June 17th, 2015 at 13:23

    Caught holding his “manhood”. ;o/

  4. Bunya June 17th, 2015 at 14:10

Let’s see if I understand this correctly. You can carry a fully loaded automatic weapon into a crowded airport, but you can’t bring bottled water onto a plane. Makes perfect sense.

    • whatthe46 June 17th, 2015 at 14:15

that about sums up the stupidity.

    • Justavet June 17th, 2015 at 14:29

Hey dummy, automatic weapons are illegal, unless you have a federal license to own. Now answer me this, how many incidents have there been of someone being shot inside a US airport? I will tell you. One, and it was by someone who illegally had the gun. How about worrying about liberal judges and district attorneys not sentencing and prosecuting illegal gun use to the full extent of the law?

      • Bunya June 17th, 2015 at 15:20

Hey dummy, automatic weapons are still readily available. And one shooting death inside a US airport is one too many, but pales in comparison to the over 30,000 people killed annually by guns. I say we get guns out of the hands of civilians so we don’t have to worry about idiots like you packing heat.

        • Justavet June 17th, 2015 at 16:05

Typical liberal moron, Automatic Class 3 firearms are not readily available and require a special license to purchase. Show me where one has been used or show me how one can be purchased. Your problem is you don’t know the difference between a full auto and a semi-automatic. I have used a full automatic but, that was in the military. In fact, there has been only one or two incidents in the past 35 years of an automatic weapon used by a criminal. And guess what? That was illegal. As to your 30,000 number. 20,000 are suicides. Funny, the suicide rate in Japan is higher and there are virtually no firearms in the hands of the public. Now explain to me how the highest murder rates in the country are in cities which have the greatest gun control laws? Do you know what a criminal is most afraid of? It is a citizen with a gun – they are not afraid of the police or doing time. I bet you would be a crying little b””ch if someone put a gun in your face. I have the will and means to protect myself.

LMAO you have all the hallmarks of a liberal and as us on the right say, “liberalism is a mental disease.” Have a nice life (well as long as some bad guy doesn’t get to you). do you have afall out shelter to hide in during the daylight hours and a tank to cruise the streets in at night?

              • StoneyCurtisll June 18th, 2015 at 19:52

” Have a nice life (well as long as some bad guy doesn’t get to you”)?

You can add paranoia to your resume..

          • Bunya June 17th, 2015 at 17:04

They may not be readily available, but they ARE available. The fact that there were two incidences in the past 35 years, is still two too many. And guess what? The criminal was still able to obtain a semi-automatic.
            .
And I’ll bet you’d be crying like a little bitch if someone held a loaded killing device to your face. I’ll also bet if someone snuck up behind you and held a gun to your temple, you wouldn’t have time to reach for your firearm.

              • Bunya June 17th, 2015 at 17:18

I can overlook PTSD, but he sounds more like a maniac running around with a fully loaded killing device.

              • fahvel June 18th, 2015 at 10:15

                very well said SC!

            • Justavet June 17th, 2015 at 18:47

They are – where? Well if you count the ones that Obama sent from Libya to Syria, I guess you could say that. Do you have any idea how many people are killed by other devices? Maybe we should outlaw cars, they kill about 34,000 people a year. Or, perhaps we should outlaw baseball bats?

And as to your last comment. It is better to be able to reach for a firearm when a criminal has a gun on you than a phone – or, haven’t you figured that out yet?

              • Bunya June 17th, 2015 at 21:08

                1) Cars weren’t designed to kill. They were designed to get someone from one place to another in comfort and in the least amount of time possible. Guns were designed for one purpose only – to kill.

                2) If someone is behind you, holding a gun to your head, good luck reaching for your firearm and living to tell about it.

                • whatthe46 June 17th, 2015 at 22:21

why can’t they or better yet, why do they insist on attempting to compare the two or three or four? it’s so damn stupid. none of those things were designed for distruction or death. a fricken gun is!

            • TuMadre June 18th, 2015 at 01:45

Probably not. But another 30 people around you, owning guns responsibly, would keep the death toll at a minimum.

          • tracey marie June 17th, 2015 at 21:35

I bet you sleep wrapped around your gun

      • StoneyCurtisll June 17th, 2015 at 17:08

Your profile says you are a Vietnam veteran…

We almost won every other war the US has been in, except the one you claim to have been in..
Do you feel any personal responsibility for the US losing the only war you claim to have been involved in?..
Or are you going to blame someone else?..(like liberals).
        Just asking.

        • Justavet June 17th, 2015 at 18:40

Well first of all it was JFK and LBJ that got us into Vietnam. Secondly, you obviously don’t know history (as most libs don’t). The US signed a peace accord with N Vietnam in 1972 It was a Democrat controlled House and Senate which refused to send aid to S. Vietnam thus assuring the defeat of the S. Vietnam military. Those are the facts, jack. And, punk I was in the war and have the scars to prove it. What ever did you do for your country? Just answering.

          • OldLefty June 17th, 2015 at 19:02

Americans got involved in Vietnam in 1950.

Nixon’s sabotage of the Vietnam peace talks was confirmed by transcripts of FBI wiretaps. On November 2, 1968, LBJ received an FBI report saying Anna Chernnault told the South Vietnamese ambassador that “she had received a message from her boss: saying the Vietnamese should “hold on, we are gonna win.”

As for : “you obviously don’t know history (as most libs don’t).”

There’s that old, con projection again.

Neurotic projection is perceiving others as operating in ways one unconsciously finds objectionable in yourself.

          • tracey marie June 17th, 2015 at 21:34

so you failed as a man to win a war, got it.

          • allison1050 June 17th, 2015 at 22:00

Not to but in but I am, I have taken some into my home as a matter of fact and a couple were in the TET Offensive. And WHO was president and WHO was running state?

            • Justavet June 18th, 2015 at 10:14

Allison, I didn’t bring up my service – one of your liberal idiots did. He said we lost the war – we didn’t. As for TET, yea I was in then with the First Cav, in the Battle of Hue at the time. You don’t know me and neither do you know the history of it. Especially if you read it how it was revised by liberal historians. If you weren’t there, you will never know. I do thank you for taking in my brothers (if in fact you did). You can return now to your regularly scheduled propaganda.

              • tracey marie June 18th, 2015 at 15:14

you brought up your service and being a {snicker} man with your comments and your name.

Many times from what I read yesterday.

              • allison1050 June 18th, 2015 at 15:15

Go back over your comments dear, you mentioned it several times as a matter of fact. By the way, we did indeed lose that war whether you want to believe it or not we did. Dear I can walk you back to when you were still playing cowboys and Indians when it comes to that particular war so don’t start with me, it’s not a good day. I did more than you’ll ever begin to know for “your brothers” when they returned broken in mind and spirit, you know the men you walk by on the street and pretend aren’t there…they are there. And also have taken care of them while I was working in hospitals also. Are you really a vet or just a pretend vet that sat on your ass safe and sound somewhere…Turkey, Germany, Italy or Spain…maybe here at home?

I’m going to end this nonconversation with you.

                • Justavet June 18th, 2015 at 17:21

You are a horses a $$ and yea I served when I said I did and where I did and my profile had nothing to do with the conversation until it was brought up by one of your liberal buddies. For your info I am a life member of the DAV and Vietnam Veterans of America…..which has done more to ensure that America’s fighting men and women were not treated like we were when we came home (you were probably one of the one’s shouting baby killer at the airports). I also respect someone for serving, no matter where or when. Don’t start with you? Why would I? I don’t associate with your type. BTW, I have helped more vets (of any era) with claims and homelessness than you ever did, or ever will.

                  • allison1050 June 18th, 2015 at 17:31

That’s why they need their big guns.

                  • Suzanne McFly June 18th, 2015 at 17:29

Well the fact is, is none of them have ever had a woman around so they have no understanding of who we are. People like them are always afraid of what they are unfamiliar with.

                    • CandideThirtythree June 19th, 2015 at 02:18

Another person here told me something about ‘character structure’ when we were discussing why so many of the mass shooters looked alike so I looked that up. I am going to have to read more about that because it was never covered in any of my classes.

Sounds like these MRA guys fit into the ‘Unwanted Child’ character structure. So that would fit with your hypothesis about them never having women around.

Since most people get over it and grow up to be normal, that would mean these MRA types totally lack character and just refuse to grow up and get on with life.

                    • Suzanne McFly June 19th, 2015 at 11:49

This guy reminds me of Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris from Columbine. They look like young white kids who may of not of been the most popular and maybe lacking attention at home. There is definitely similarities and we need to put more money into mental health, but before we do that, I think we need to quit handing out gun permits without background checks and waiting periods.

                    • CandideThirtythree June 19th, 2015 at 12:33

That was the first thing I thought when I saw him too. It was as if schizophrenia had molded their features from an early age. The disease manifests itself between the ages of 15 and 25, most often in boys even though females can be afflicted on the rare occasion. I think it is more common than doctors are letting on. The reason that I think that is that in my experience with my own students, I often thought admins were too quick to label a child as ‘bad’ and parents too often ashamed to admit something was wrong with their child. I taught special education students and I saw too many being medicated for birth defects that could never be medicated away.

The parents seemed to be in deep denial even when the condition had life threatening consequences. For instance the student with Prader Willi syndrome who could have died from over eating because they have no gag reflex yet the parent did not disclose this. That haunts me still, when I found him under the table with all of the other student’s half eaten plates of food. He could have died on my watch! That was just one of many many cases over the course of my career.

Anyway, I am afraid that even with free mental health services there would be many parents would not admit that something is wrong with their child just because they see it as a reflection of their own being. They see their children as an extension of themselves. Maybe free yearly mental health screenings? Then you have to worry about the abusive parents not wanting to be found out, like Jeffrey Dahmer’s parents.

It is maddening to even contemplate then add the availability of guns purchased by these dimwitted parents… UGH!

                    • Suzanne McFly June 19th, 2015 at 12:59

I have been subbing for a little over a year, I have worked with multiple students who are in the special ed program. I deal mostly with autistic students. Because I am a substitute, I am not allowed to be told the specific issues this child is dealing with but I am given a behavior sheet and follow along the guidelines presented. I understand the HIPPA privacy rules and how it protects these students privacy, but I am there as an educator not a predator. How can I properly address the situation if I have no knowledge or experience that specifically addresses this situation. I have become familiar with many of these kids and often they just want me to hold them or be around for them to see a familiar face. They are looking simply for love, I hope the love is also given when they go home.

As far as guns given to people with mental issues, that won’t change if we don’t fix these fabricated beliefs about the 2nd amendment. I firmly believe if James Madison knew what kind of guns we would eventually create, he would of written that amendment with some sort of guidelines.

You don’t need to be afraid in order to exercise your rights to own a gun in the event that a democratic government goes tyrannical.

        • TuMadre June 18th, 2015 at 01:42

Firstly, that doesn’t refute his point. I’ve included an image to let you know how good your argument is.

Secondly, you don’t need to be afraid to exercise your rights, and you implying otherwise is intellectually dishonest.

EVERYBODY says that those who they disagree with can’t tolerate the freedom of others.

                It’s meaningless.

                • TuMadre June 18th, 2015 at 08:10

Except it isn’t. I’m not advocating for taxes you don’t approve of, unless you are against universal goods.

                  • OldLefty June 18th, 2015 at 08:28

                    Of course it is.

We don’t line item our taxes.

Everybody calls expenditure on what THEY approve of ” universal goods”

One person’s “defense” spending is another person’s corporate welfare.

                    • TuMadre June 18th, 2015 at 18:34

You’ve put words in my mouth. I believe in public ownership of the Universal Goods. Universal Goods can be defined as, “something that everybody uses.” Basic Schooling is one. Electricity is another. Water/Sewage is another. Roads are another. Healthcare (yes, I actually agree with Dems on this one) is another. I also believe the internet to be a Universal Good (between the wealth of information, and the nearly endless list of jobs that only take applications online, how could it not be?). Military Defense is also a universal good, so long as it is limited to protecting your borders from foreign threats.

That said, certain things (like Electricity and Water/Sewage) shouldn’t be entirely socialized. An Aircraft Plant that uses 1MW per hour shouldn’t be subsidized by the people who use 1kw per day. Instead, you pay for what you use at a flat rate, plus a TINY bit extra to pay for the Power Plant Workers, and to save for replacing equipment as it is needed. But electricity shouldn’t be owned by people who want to push the price as high as they can, either.

If anyone wants to argue what I’ve listed as Universal Goods, they are free to.

                    • OldLefty June 18th, 2015 at 19:00

You’ve put words in my mouth. I believe in public ownership of the Universal Goods. Universal Goods can be defined as, “something that everybody uses.” …..
                      ______

                      Ok. I stand corrected.

                    • TuMadre June 18th, 2015 at 19:15

I hope this means that we found some common ground.

If so, I am glad for it.

                    • OldLefty June 18th, 2015 at 19:17

                      Ok.

              • CandideThirtythree June 18th, 2015 at 14:46

Then you should take your hate of liberals where it will be appreciated, over to Redstate or Fox Nation. I am sure they will be impressed by your word salad posts and your republican math and your vacuous graphics.

Being a troll is a very nasty habit, stirring up hate benefits no one but the sociopath who is feeding on negativism, you really should stop before the habit becomes too hard for you to break.

We don’t mind honest debate here but we do mind the visiting team coming over to piss in our dugout.

                • TuMadre June 18th, 2015 at 17:25

I’m not republican. And no matter how much you chant it, it won’t become true. I’ve already listed quite a few positions in which I am 100% opposed to them. Perhaps it is just that you can’t stand not being in an echo chamber?

                  • CandideThirtythree June 19th, 2015 at 02:27

Well then, why don’t you go over to their sites and tell them what you hate about them?

The fact that you are here on a liberal website trolling is all the proof we need that you are a republican…the word republican is an epithet here just like the word liberal is a derogative the way you use it.

And you are a republican on steroids, just here to make a nuisance of yourself.

                    • TuMadre June 19th, 2015 at 02:31

You once called me out for using the same image more than once. I’m calling you out for dismissing me as a “Republican,” “Republican on steroids,” and a “troll,” despite the fact that I’ve proven time and time again that I am not one.

“The fact that you are here on a liberal website trolling is all the proof we need that you are a republican.”
Firstly, not trolling. So, since I’ve established that, I guess I’m just a Republican because I’m here? Does that make you one, too?

And I’m sorry that I’m a nuisance. It seems, that for some people, the truth can be a nuisance sometimes.

                    • CandideThirtythree June 19th, 2015 at 03:18

You have NO truth…it is your never ending LIES that we object to and the fact that you keep repeating the same LIES over and over, Ad nauseam!!!

We do not suffer fools lightly, and you are insufferable!

You RWNJs have thousands of websites, why do you insist on foul our nest?

Why do you insist on trolling here? Why don’t you go troll the republicans? Oh that’s right….because you ARE one!

                    • TuMadre June 19th, 2015 at 03:25

If they are lies, then please point them out. Specifically. Refute them. Specifically. I’ll even keep it easy and on point for you here. Refute this picture, specifically.

Tell me how it is wrong. Specifically. And if you want to prove me as a republican, I would like you to show how I am one. Considering our interactions in this thread (and one other), I’m pretty sure that you cant.

Between the two of us, the only one who is acting foolishly is you. If you are going to say, “LIES,” you had better be willing to prove it. You’ve proven nothing to me in any interaction that we’ve had.

I have no idea what RWNJ’s are. And I insist on your nest because your nest happened to be the website that Disqus recommended with a topic I wanted to talk about.

“Troll!” “Republican!” “Republican on steroids!” You are beginning to sound like a broken record. Once again, my profile is wide open, and nothing I have said is unreasonable. Nothing I have said is meant to offend (and even if I was, offense can only be taken, never given). You need to calm down, and think with a cool, rational brain, rather than scream at any dissent in your echo chamber.

                    • CandideThirtythree June 19th, 2015 at 03:39

So now you want to give 13 year olds guns and you think we are crazy?

OK, have the thread, your word salad posts and pure, unadulterated insanity are too much for me, you win. You just keep slinging poop at the walls to see what sticks…all is all you are capable of doing any way.

                    • TuMadre June 19th, 2015 at 03:45

Feel free to dispute it, rather than putting words in my mouth. You asking a question doesn’t dispute anything. In fact, I actually read that question in Al Sharpton’s voice.

Nice insults, by the way. At least you changed them up (finally). Too bad that seems to be all you have; ad hominems and name-calling. I even gave you the argument pyramid, buddy. Armed with that, I though you would at least rise up to “contradiction.”

Anyways, I’ll take this post to mean, “I can not refute anything you say, as my arguments are all appeals to emotion, rather than reason. That said, I want everyone to know that this argument makes me upset.”

It’s a shame. I thought you had real potential to actually debate when you first responded to me. You seem intelligent enough to. Alas, all that intelligence swept aside in favor of raw emotion….

                    • CandideThirtythree June 19th, 2015 at 05:56

                      You are dismissed troll.

                    • TuMadre June 19th, 2015 at 06:03

You’ve been trying to “dismiss” me for quite some time, without actually providing anything yourself that I can examine. Feel free to shut me up with some facts.

                    • TuMadre June 19th, 2015 at 04:04

As a final thought, I would also just like to counter your loaded question, so that way you can see how ridiculous you sound coming from my end.

You asked, “So now you want to give 13 year olds guns and you think we are crazy?”

Here is my emotionally loaded question, in response: “So you WANT a 13 year old and her brother to be brutalized by two robbers?”

See how intellectually dishonest, and demonizing that is to the person who is making the point? You phrased the question so that there was no way that I could answer it without looking like a bad guy. It is a nasty, dirty trick that people use to cover the fact that they have no defense, and you should feel ashamed for using it.

                    • CandideThirtythree June 19th, 2015 at 05:56

There was nothing dishonest about it, the fact that you can’t see that makes you one of the bad guys.

There are countries in the world with very very low crime rates and the reason that the crime rates are so low is because of social justice, aka socialism, something you do not believe in.

I have nothing to feel ashamed of, I am not the one who drank the Kool-Aid and decided to join up with a bunch of conspiracy theorist and crack pots…that is something that you would be ashamed of if you had the sense to realize just how stupid you look and what a fool you are making of yourself.

                    • TuMadre June 19th, 2015 at 06:02

I could counter with some sort of half-assed response, and say that Briton is one of these countries that you have spoken of, but now Britain also needs to card people for knives, and lawmakers are considering dulling the tips. But that would only allow you to wiggle around some. Care to name any of those countries? Care to give me their ethnicity breakdowns? How about their gang populations?

                    • TuMadre June 19th, 2015 at 06:08

I’m sorry, I seemed to have glanced over a sentence, and upon proper review, did you just say that Social Justice is a good thing?

I want to make absolutely sure that’s what you meant to say before I respond to that.

                    • TuMadre June 19th, 2015 at 21:25

You haven’t answered my question yet, so I will ask it again. Are you saying that Social Justice is a good thing?

                • TuMadre June 18th, 2015 at 18:36

It seems that any real challenge of what you are saying isn’t seen as debate, but rather as “pissing in your dugout,” as you so crassly stated.

                  • CandideThirtythree June 19th, 2015 at 01:42

You are no challenge, you are just a troll, you are just here to destroy honest debate.

We got Karl Rove’s memo to you people, they one were he instructed you rabid republicans to invade liberal websites, and make no mistake you are not a libertarian, you are just a republican on steroids.

Peer reviewed studies have all come to the same conclusion, trolls are nothing but sadists…like you!

                    Abstract
In two online studies (total N = 1215),
respondents completed personality inventories and a survey of their
Internet commenting styles. Overall, strong positive associations
emerged among online commenting frequency, trolling enjoyment, and troll
identity, pointing to a common construct underlying the measures. Both
studies revealed similar patterns of relations between trolling and the
Dark Tetrad of personality: trolling correlated positively with sadism,
psychopathy, and Machiavellianism, using both enjoyment ratings and
identity scores. Of all personality measures, sadism showed the most
robust associations with trolling and, importantly, the relationship was
specific to trolling behavior. Enjoyment of other online activities,
such as chatting and debating, was unrelated to sadism. Thus
cyber-trolling appears to be an Internet manifestation of everyday
                    sadism.”

So take your sick self to the doctor and leave us alone.

                    • TuMadre June 19th, 2015 at 02:10

I’m not destroying anything. As far as whatever Karl Rove said, it is complete news to me. But then, I don’t tend to follow Republican News. You may notice that I’ve only posted on “flat tax,” which is something that most Republicans don’t seem to want (including Rand Paul, who isn’t proposing a true flat tax).

And you can keep calling me a troll, and/or a Republican, all you want. It doesn’t make it true, and it has nothing to do with the argument at hand.

But then, I guess when someone is used to being able to call someone a Republican, and have that shame them somehow (as if that makes their arguments instantly defeated), simply because their views don’t match up with the Democrats, you figure that it won’t hurt to keep trying here.

Too bad it isn’t working. My points are not Republican points (they would argue with me as well), and I am not here to troll. My profile isn’t private, and I’ve not trolled anyone anywhere with it, including here. Perhaps you should open your mind to the possibility that there are more than two types of people, because for all that the liberal party likes to tout diversity of body, you certainly seem to have a problem with diversity of thought.

sometimes they are so desperate you just need to tell them to shut up, when i saw you were trolled days after the fact, I saw red.

                • CandideThirtythree June 18th, 2015 at 15:17

Thanks tracey, I always know that you have my back and I really do appreciate it. :-)

Hey dummy, automatic weapons are illegal, unless you have a federal license to own.

That’s not true, of course. Fully automatic weapons require special licencing, but semi automatic weapons do not. Bunya did not specify which type of automatic weapon he was referring to, though through context it’s pretty clear he was referring to semi automatic weapons.

Your confusion is understandable (if your ad hominem is not) as gun enthusiasts would only refer to fully automatic weapons as ‘automatic’. Bunya using a less preferred label (though still technically correct) certainly doesn’t make him a ‘dummy’, it just shows he probably doesn’t spend much time reading Guns & Ammo in his spare time.

<-+++ my best friend's step-aunt makes $70 hourly on the laptop. She has been out of work for 7 months but last month her pay was $18355 just working on the laptop for a few hours. She actually started four months ago and pretty much immediately began to make more than $542… Every week.
