Dad Of Killed Soldier Confronts Hawkish Senator Tom Cotton

Posted by | June 6, 2015 07:30 | Filed under: Politics War & Peace

Fred Boenig, whose son died fighting abroad and who has other children in the military, had the opportunity to confront one of the most hawkish Senators, Tom Cotton of Arkansas.

Boenig asked Cotton how long it’s been since the last U.S. military combat zone death. Cotton did not know, and Boenig told him the number of days, before asking, “When do we hang up the Mission Accomplished banner and when do I get my kids to come home safe again?”

Cotton said there’s “no definitive answer” and offered Boenig his condolences, before they had this exchange:

COTTON: In the end, I think the best way to honor our veterans is…

BOENIG: …is to have more killed?

COTTON: …is to win the wars in which they’ve fought.

Boenig also brought up a recent meeting Cotton had with defense contractors and said, “It’s very clear where your views are, sir. My views are keeping our kids safe, which include my children.”

Like most right wing nut jobs, they usually shy away from any intelligent question.

too bad every parent of every dead boy and girl doesn’t do the same – the usa is squandering young lives with no rational objective in view other than controlling the flow of petrol.

My niece recently enlisted and now just spews hatred towards the US civilian population and anti-war people in particular. She followed her husband into the military …a husband who has quit every job and field of study he has ever tried….more than a half dozen in the 3 years I’ve know him. She has left him and returned him several times after he promises to never beat her again. She has found a home where she can abuse others as she has been abused and where abuse is recognized as well deserved…even her own. It’s a mindset that has enriched so many in power…especially the upper echelon of the military who move from the pentagon to the MIC with guarantees of wealth beyond imagining. I am trying so hard to hold my tongue in the face of her disdain and hoping that she returns to the sensible woman I once knew. With this view of the average American, is it any wonder that they view anyone and everyone as the enemy and deserving of whatever firepower they can rain down on them?

    Tom Cotton’s foreign policy philosophy:
    War is good for business.

Obama could have pulled the troops out anytime he wanted. He had a Veto proof Senate and House for two years and did nothing.. Why doesn’t he get 100% of the blame.. Senator Cotton wasn’t even in office in 2008-2012.. Liberals should look at their Master and blame him not 1 of 100 Senators that doesn’t even have authority to pull the troops out of a war zone…

yet, you will not hold the commander in (cough gross) chief, at the time, to blame for the fucking lying ass reason for being there in the first damn place. you think to correct the monstracity of what the bush admin. did, would have taken a fk’n month? get off your ignorant high horse and look at reality. who created ISIS? bush/cheney! that’s the fuck who! so don’t you dare blame our President Obama, for the dumb sh!t, your ignorant non-thinking lying pos “commander in chief” dummy and money hungry bastard of a vp did.

Fred Boenig’s son was never “killed fighting abroad” despite what the article falsely claims. He murdered himself by shooting himself. Suicide case that occured during Mr. Obama’s presidency four years before Sen. Cotton was even elected.

“It’s very clear where your views are, sir. My views are keeping our kids safe, which include my children.”

He’s at least half right. If the GOP starts another war, Cotton will keep his kids out of the military. If we attack the wrong country and they retaliate, he’ll take his children and move to another country. One thing I’ve noticed about right wingers is they’re tough talkers, but notorious cowards.

Why falsely claim that Boenig’s son was a “killed soldier”? He was not killed, he killed himself. A suicide case.

Why claim the “son died fighting abroad”? He did no such thing. He shot himself.
