Abbott & Costello Heirs Sue Over ‘Who’s On First’

The children of Bud Abbott and Lou Costello are suing the play “Hand to God” for copyright infringement.

During a scene in “Hand to God,” lead character Jason tries to entertain girl-next-door Jessica by re-enacting the timeless baseball repartee with his sock puppet.

“When Jessica asks him if he came up with it himself, Jason at first lies and says yes, to uproarious laughter by the audience, who recognizes the sketch very well,’’ according to court papers…

Lou’s daughter, Chris Costello, said, “The legacy of my father is important to me and my family, and we felt that this lawsuit was necessary to protect us.”

Guilty…As a kid I used to chase my sisters around the house saying “Slowly I turn, step by step, inch by inch….”

    Who are Abbott and Costello?

If you are not being snarky, google the routine. For it’s time, it was quite funny and became a signature routine for the comedy duo.

As I see it, they really don’t have any claim to this. It should be in public domain by now. The only thing they want to protect is any revenue they can gouge from their famous parent’s genius.
