Add Rick Perry to the 2016 Republican mix.

If he enters the race, he will start under dramatically different circumstances than this time last cycle, when conservatives clamored for the governor to get in the race.

In 2011, Perry was seen as perhaps the most formidable challenger to Mitt Romney because of his popularity among social conservatives and southern Republicans, but he floundered in debates and struggled to get fundraising traction outside of Texas. He finished a disappointing fifth in the Iowa caucuses and angered some establishment Republicans by backing Newt Gingrich over Romney after he withdrew.

He’s still a long shot. For now, he barely registers in the polls, and he is expected to enter a far more crowded 2016 GOP field.

    Come on aboard Mr. Perry, we enjoyed feeding you a dose of reality last time and this time the kids gloves are off. First timers in primaries are treated kind of nice, but this time around you better be prepared. You best have upped your knowledge game and write down the talking points on your hand if you have too. Those glasses don’t make you look smarter, they reek of desperation. Flavor of the month (barely) status by default last time, at least this time make your month mean something real. BTW did God speak to Anita again?

    Perry is a lot more than just a long shot, he has no shot. He is doing this to fill bank accounts and the dumbest schmucks with the least amount of money will happily give him their life savings.

    Three reasons why Perry should not toss his hat in the POTUS nomination ring again:
    1) He’s already convinced most Americans that he’s a buffoon.
    2) When he asked God if he should run, the Good Lord did a face-palm and sighed.
    3) I can’t remember the third reason …
